Built a new computer in September, 23. More than enough to run 4k videos without problems. VLC was very laggy with 2160p+. This helped 100%. Thanks so much. THIS IS THE FIX. (assuming your video card/PC can actually handle 4k graphics)
@@thelam1129 4K is GPU intensive ,so... yeah our PC cannot handle it. But still I think it will run a bit laggy even if hardware is not up to the mark.
Worked for me but for those who think this video is uploaded in bad quality. it is not, but I had to change the settings in UA-cam because it was automatically choosing a resolution of 360 I chose 1080 and then it was very clear.
Also if you are video recording in 4k on your cellphone, make sure you are not recording with the HEVC codec. Even though I tried these tricks it would still lag. I disabled the HEVC codec on my phone and now it playsback properly on my laptop.
Have made the changes suggested in VLC. But my issue is still the same......I am playing 4K video on my pc and same video also on my 4k tv. On my 4k tv the video looks much smoother (eg when turns are made with the video camera), but on my pc these turns look very fast and you almost think you are turning the video recording way to fast. But on my tv the result looks much smoother. Not sure what to do about this for PC? I have a I9 processor, 32gb, 4k monitor, rtx2060 super. Any ideas?
@@millecinematics the settings won't work for everyone you need to try a different combination of them. If it doesn't work, it's your computer hardware that is not sufficient for what you're trying to run.
I ended up reverting to a previous release of vlc (30.0.16) on ubuntu 22.04 from vlc (30.0.18) and everything was fixed no tweaking needed. 18 was pegging the cpu usage almost 100% and 16 uses 25%. Hope this helps someone.
1:38 My friend, this did not work for me, because at this point 1:38 things are different from when you made this video. Would appreciate if you could look into this, and make an updated video. Thanks, in advance. And here 2:12, double click does nothing.
My Dude! been using VLC for viewing 4K drone and Go Pro footage. Always choppy. Was thinking it was SD Cards, Recording settings, HDD speeds..... nope. VLC issue. Thank you!
Any one know how to fix "seek/skip forward lags"? When I use short seek/skip or medium seek/skip shortcut keys the video takes a while to move to next 5-10 seconds. However, there is no lag with the audio when I skip. This is happening with only downloaded videos from websites such as UA-cam or Metacafe.. anyone know how to fix? The above didn't work! Please help, thanks 🙏🏻
It worked, Mine was set to automatic so I tried to disable the hardware-accelerated decoding in input/codecs but it was still lagging, so I tried to leave it alone in automatic and it worked. Thanks
Thaks Men!! I always thought the mp4 file is uploaded damaged by the persaon or it was my laptop! But it's actually the VLC Media Player SETUP 🙂 Many thanks..Dhanibaat
Tried all you suggested, but still not working. My problem is when I play 8bit video it's working and when I play 10 bit video it's not. It's lagging and choppy and the moving objects gets blurry and mushy. Could you give me any advice? Thanks ( by the way my video editor program, plays everything perfectly but not vlc)
idk why a choose to look for a different media player and have problems with how it looks in hdr, rather just look for the solution of why it was geting laggy in vlc haha, you saved me a lot
Thanks for this. Flashing has stopped but I still get a black screen with a slight flashing of the VLC cone. Audio but no video. Can you help further? Many Thanks
I just followed the steps but now I can't play any DVDs anymore. I tried to go back and change everything back to the original settings, but that still didn't help. Do you have advice how to play my DVDs again? I restarted my computer each time. Thanks in advance.
Please help I tried this but nothing works, so issue is if I am playing a larger size file and jump to a point it just does not load, I have GTX 3060 and ryzen 3500 and video is saved In nvme drive, I do see that in task manage the vlc is reading the file but then I again try to seek it just freeze, however if I normally play a video it works perfectly fine. Please let me know how i can fix this
Doesn't work for me, not all videos have issues just the odd video stutters especially when skipping 10 secs, audio still going then video catches up. Will use Win Media Player which has no issues.
Thank you for the video. My issue is when editing videos, there is time lag between pressing 'STOP' button and the actual stop in recording. The recording goes on for another second or two after pressing the STOP button. Is there a way to prevent this? Thank you in advance.
I was having issues with a AVI file the VLC couldnt run well but after I the change of setting and removing hardware accelerated decoding it started to work. 2015 macbook. Thanks
OK - all Options on VLC Player adjusted as shown and checked twice . Result is better than befor but NOT PERFECT . 2160 p still stuttering . ( ONLY 25% GPU Load - 10 % CPU - ALL= GREEN !! ) 1080 was and is OK with VLC . EASY SOLUTION : USE WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER for 2160. ALL iS PERFECT !!
