For those curious about the flashing: It is NOT a rendering issue. Before registering the applications, he tries to run the removed win11 ones. Instead of launching, they just crash almost immediately.
You may see the fullsceen icon on apps developed for win 8 as Scanner. Not really suprised why it had backwards compabilitly because windows 10 was based from it at the betas, 11 is based on 10.
Really awesome you got this to work, it’s interesting how the fullscreen button is still embedded somewhere in the windows code, leftover from the windows 10 beta(s). Let alone that the apps work in the first place! One thing I wanna note is that the pacing of the video is wayyy too fast. The captions go by too quickly, and why did you speed up the most important part of the video (where the apps actually worked)?? Lol. I had to watch at 0.5 speed
The issue is on 10/11 they use a different type of UWP app that 8 doesn't support, in fact 8 doesn't use UWP at all. It was a different format back in windows 8, which is why they don't open.
about the fullscreen button: using the feature that allows you to cast a device screen to your computer also shows the button (i assume a remnant of 8.1)
My wish for 2025 is Microsoft to make an update to Windows 11 25h2, a new lookin forward system with all issues fixed like in Windows 8 and Windows Vista and now Everything is more clear than ever seen like in Windows 7 and Windows 10 Also they gave bought again the start screen again with metro apps, however the fluent design was made so they could gave a better shape to the icon frames now more rounded and their frames matching the color scheme of start screen like in Windows 10 v2019
@@WindowsDestroyer yeah. windows 8 all apps were uwp. windows 10 were also uwp, but in version 1809 i believe, they introduced winui. windows 10 used to not have it though so its apps are still uwp i believe. windows 11 has backwards compatability with uwp though, so thats why the 8 apps work on 11.
There are UWP apps but it dosn't have the SystemApps folder probably because microsoft had not made the taskbar and other stuff uwp unlike in windows 11

its cool that windows 11 has full backwards compatabillity with win 8.1 apps, including the menu and fullscreening

it would be a problem if it didnt tho

Its still possible to download some W8.1 apps from the Microsoft Store so yes obviously they run in Windows 11 just fine

All are essentially based on Windows 8.1 embedded. in fact the Windows 8.1 embedded logo is still in Windows 10 and 11 in one of the branding DLLs

Good video, I 'd suggest making your captiona appear for more time as since they are too fast and I can barely read more than 4 words
Yeah my mistake, edited it without caption and then realised that I made a big mistake by doing that

That wallpaper is a kde wallpaper. Idk which one but it should be easy to find.

aren't windows 8 metro apps and windows10/11 uwp apps different so windows 8 doesn't understand?
Maybe
You tried to open the settings with the desktop shortcut (which uses a url) rather than the app itself.
Idea. Swap the UWP apps between 8.1 and Windows 10 RTM/1507 aka Build 10240.
Sure
@ considering that 1507 has the entire metro start screen left behind, certain aspects of this experiment may work better on that build
