for anyone wondering. seems like the major difference comes down to the lcd screen. aces aspire 5 slim uses ips, while asus vivobook 15 uses tft panel.. thats where its a deal breaker or not. tft panels suck sweaty bud holes. this aint the early 2000's

And its not random issue that appears in some of them. thats how they are right of the box. but is this the case while reviewing your own aspire 5 slim? is their any fixes for that issue?
@@risingabovelife3996 Sorry to say but I dont have a lot to weight in on with this. I have used about 35 of these units (reviews units, client setups) and I haven't had issues with the audio. I can attest the audio quality isn't stellar but most laptops, especially eco laptops aren't. Either / or, I'd recommend a good pair of headphones with most laptops.
Hey, I owned Asus (F751) and own Acer (E365) laptop. The Acer matte screen is much, much better than the glossy Asus screen, the latter which was almost giving me headaches, that's how bad it was. Not sure but I think they're both TN's so Asus was just cheaping out on screens. I saw you already brought up the issue of the ACER having a better screen in one of the comments. So what's going on here? Are Asus screens still as bad as when I had that laptop? Do you think they can securely allow themselves to cheap out on screens because they have consolidated their reputation as "the gamer laptop with the best specs" with the community?
These are great questions. I'm not sure what ASUS problem is. A majority of their laptops have some of the worst screens in the industry even on their high end gaming laptops. My guess is they had a bad source of screens OR they are trying to go as cheap as possible to make up for the rest of the specs. It's slowly becoming a deal breaker for me and my clients however.

Wireless printers work through your network. As such, its all software based. Both of these run WIN10 and shouldnt have an issue printing to a wireless printer.

Am I too old school? I would buy the Acer because it has the Ethernet port... always good to have that option in my opinion. I had both experiences where the wifi in my laptop broke and then the wifi in my modem broke so I love having the Ethernet option without having to buy an adapter for it
Haha, sorry Andy, yes that's a bit old school thinking. Most laptops are ditching Ethernet these days especially now that Wifi-6 is practically as fast as Ethernet. Not to say you're wrong, but Ethernet isn't long for this world in the mobile field!
Ryzen 3 will choke under heavy load with production software. But I'll recommend the ACER all day long as this point. If you have budgetary constraints and can't uprade to an i5 or Ryzen 5 - the 3 will be fine but keep in mind lot of effects will bog it down.
I'm confused on the Vivobook. There is a version on Amazon which comes with an NvME SSD and a 1TB Hard drive. Wouldn't this suggest that they all should support a add-on hard drive. That's kind of a deal breaker for me, as I currently have an aging Dell Lattitude E6530 with dual drives (via DVD Drive Converter). I can't bring myself to buy the Acer, as the flex in the keyboard, the screen, and the overall laptop makes it seem like a toy, or a budget Chromebook to me.
I know you compared the Acer 5 with the Asus vivo 5 but wondering since I can only get the Acer 5 with the ryzen 3 3200u /vega 3/12gig ram but I can get a ryzen 5 3500u /vega 8/8 gig ram with the Asus. does it still come down to screen quality?

@@Anne-eq4zx You're not going to get a "gaming" laptop for under 400 euro. That said between these two machines you can't go wrong - I'd probably get the ACER. You may want to see what Dell or Lenovo offers in your stores as well.
the acer is better for gaming bc it has the ryzen 3 cpu which comes with the vega 3 graphics. the ASUS one comes with the core i3 cpu which doesn't come with a good gpu like the ryzen does. if you get the acer for gaming tho you're gonna need to add another stick of RAM which is super easy.
@@gilly4487 This is incorrect. Intel UHD 620 benchmarks higher than the Vega 3 / Ryzen 3 combos. Not by a whole lot, but i3 and UHD are faster than AMDs equivolent. That said, AMD offers better bang for your buck overall.

The screen is good on Acer because it is using IPS LCD tech where as asus is using the old school TFT LCD.

Oddly enough, not all Vivobooks have the extra SATA slot.
Could you use the ASUS for an audio editing app?
Yes, we demo'd audio apps on it. Worked fine. Bigger and higher fidelity files will take longer to render but processing is fine.

Yes. I think the screen is going to make or break it for a lot of people. Some of our clients don’t mind too much but others hate it.

between the high end Acer and the high end dell, it’s a tough choice. I think I’d go Acer over Inspiron but XPS over just about all of them.

No. You can do small things and 1080 but its not a serious editor.

Neither are gaming laptops. Both are going to perform roughly the same, but the LCD screen on the Acer is slightly superior.

Both are on very level grounds - if you get an ASUS with an OLED screen it will be a great computer.
