I have a KF8 and was able to improve the coffee by changing the grind size. I dont know if you have the option to do this on the KF7, but it was just a small slider above the handle on the brew unit.

KF7 does have this option as well, but it still wasn't producing the cup I expected. Thank you for commenting!

Great review! Would you recommend the kitchen aid over the new Philips 5500 lattego? I’m looking to spend no more than $1200, so what would you recommend. I do care about the flavor of my espresso/cappuccinos/americanos. Oh and the grind settings have to be changed on the inner panel while you’re grinding I believe on the kitchen aid.

I would still recommend the Kitchen Aid over the Phillips, yes. And yes you can adjust grind size on the Kitchen Aid - and you should. You need to find that "sweet spot"

Do you know what the maximum dose of coffee for this machine is? Most Gaggia machines max out at 11.5 grams, while Jura goes as high as 16 grams. Coffee is generally measured in grams, btw, not ounces.

Good point. If you google x ounces to grams, it should pull it up for you.

It’s about 15-16 grams. The original manufacturer is Eugster/Frismag, they also make Melitta’s home superautos, Nivona, Miele, and Jura

I’d imagine with super automatics they err heavily on the side of grinding too coarse?

I'd wager youre correct on that one.

Have you been able to get a better tasting cup out of this machine? I’m really disappointed that you found the coffee tasting bad.

I haven't. Several bags of beans later I still wasn't blown away. It's a shame.. such a fantastic product, but the brew components need a redo.
