Kay, please give your brother a big hug, just because. (I would give just about anything to be able to hug my brother again!)
This video is helpful. Who couldn't use a dose or two of Jim's financial wisdom?

This is so important. People just don’t understand how to manage money and the possibilities. My son retired at the age of 36! Money knowledge is so needed! It is fun to see you do this different kind of interview.

What a wonderful topic Kay! My husband and I have been married many many years. I think this service would be a wonderful wedding gift for a couple.

Thank you Kay for posting this. Needed this now as my husband just passed away a couple of weeks ago. I have to adjust my spending since I’m now on a single retirement income.

Managing ok, and thank you, for this valuable video.

Hi Kay so sorry for late reply , I must have missed this first time round . What a really good idea Kay to talk about Money! and preparing for Retirement. Say Hello to your brother Jimmy , such good good advice and definitely needed much earlier in your life , rather than later. I was so lucky I married a good steady sensible man , just like your brother Jim , yes I thought it all so boring in my 20s but now that Im 66 and retired already for 1 year , I thank him everyday of my life for helping to keep me steady and yes we do go on holidays and have fun going out and with our grandson . Everything Jim said was so good and super sensible take note you younger ladies ❤️

Thank you so much for this timely advice. My husband and I went through this a number of times in our 30s, 40s and 50s. Each time the focus was a little different. I can't recommend this enough. I hope everyone who hasn't done so will take advantage of what Jimmy has to offer.

Agree so much on how the focus changes over time . The other thing not mentioned which is a certainty w/ time is the loss of a spouse & therefore , the way it affects one's finances .

Good idea for a video, Kay. My husband is drawing up a budget for his 94 yr old Dad right now as the Dad gives too much money away to his 60 yr old daughter who has been reckless with money all her life and now goes to her Dad to get more $. My hubby's Dad needs his money for his own assisted living and expenditures.
As for me, I'm 68 and my parents lived through the Great Depression so they drummed it into me from early on that one NEVER buys anything without having $ saved in the bank to buy it.
Sweet video with your brother. Just wish more people my age (retirement) would follow this common sense advice.

As a boomer of 70+ & also raised by Depression era parents , we were taught to " save for a rainy day " , live within our means , etc.

Excellent video. I started working with a financial planner decades ago, following his advice every step of the way to have a comfortable retirement. I've been happily retired for 10 years now. It does take planning and sacrifice to reach the goals you want. Following a budget helps greatly along with contributing regularly to a retirement fund such as 401k or IRA. Very much agree with him to not have credit card debt and live below your means and build up an emergency fund.

Me too! My mother-in-law encouraged us to eat at expensive restaurants when we had no business walking through those doors! Our finances improved when we did a Christian money plan. We need to get back on a budget to keep track of what we spend better.

People should also learn how protect their savings and avoid scams. Invest in well established (FDIC insured) institutions 🏦. Avoid small time brokers who push insurance, investment opportunities, etc. There must be a YT channel that covers all the newest scams. 🧐

This topic is oh so important. Your brother shares thoughtful advice, especially having an emergency fund. I wish when I was starting my career in the 1980's there were financial gurus who were guiding us. I started watching Suze Orman over 20 years ago and that is when I started to get serious about doing a budget. Thankfully, both my husband and I were in agreement. I am 67 and my husband is going to be 71 next month and we are completely debt free. We paid off our mortgage when I turned 65 (that is when I retired). It is an amazing feeling to be debt free. Dave Ramsey suggests that we stop buying our adult kids presents! I like that idea! We do a 52 week challenge where we start putting one dollar in an envelope the first Friday of January. The next Friday we put $2.00 in then the next Friday $3.00, etc. until the last Friday of December . We end up with about $1379.00. This is our pot of money where we decide what to use it for. Thanks Kay. P.S. I just need to be more intentional with my clothes shopping!

    Very good advise!
Good to plan ahead iam living overseas, not 🇺🇸, and getting a pension, but still remains that finances have to be planed.
I our county it's not so common to live in depth.
Also my parents tought me that.
But to manage finances wisely isn't always easy.
A good idea to have help or advisers at certain times in our lives!
You and your brother seems very trustworthy people!

Honestly...do you even remember the gifts you got? We went to drawing names & reducing the amount spent per person & have enjoyed the holiday even more. I think that young parents feel the pressure more because relatives, teachers, and friends all ask "What did you get for Christmas?" or friends host big birthday parties...& you want your child to feel special too. But it has gotten ridiculous & really not what Christmas or a birthday should be about.
