Ever since this trend started, (one side of your shirt tucked in, the other side left out) I have not once seen anyone (a real person) wear their shirt this way. But fashion ads continue to show this “trend”. I don’t think it’s flattering, it gives you a waist or the illusion of a waist on one side but not the other side? Personally, I think it looks stupid.
I wouldn't say that it looks ''stupid''. I think y'all are being a little harsh for no reason at all. If you don't like it, then don't wear your blouses that way, so why get ugly about it?
And dental care. I'd rather thrift my clothing (I find Lauren, Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, London Fog, Lands End for under $15), and spend my money on dental care.
I am less concerned about the cost of the clothes you style, as I keep returning because of your style tips and your gracious personality. You are such a positive force for good. Thanks so much Kay for your inspiration!!!
I can relate to the point you made about dressing for your real lifestyle as opposed to a "fantasy" lifestyle. It's finally hit me that I need to build my wardrobe with items that I will reach for every day. Thanks for the reinforcing point and one that is so relevant and important. 🙂
Hi Kay. I have recently found your channel, and I love it! I'm a pastor's wife as we'll, but I'm in my 30's. I've been updating my wardrobe recently since I've finished having babies, and I get so much inspiration from your tips and outfits! Your point about having clothes that fit your current lifestyle has been a game changer for me recently. I also love your approach of wanting to show up with confidence in your day. God Bless!
Hello Kay. You make some great points on dressing for your lifestyle. Indeed Frank and Eileen is pricey and and so is Ralph Lauren (a style I like very much), but what I do is take their ideas and looks and shop places like Talbots, Banana Republic and J.Crew that offer very similar styles and meet more of my clothing budget. I do try to only buy natural fabrics from these retailers as well.
Another trick, "Next to New" stores - Shop for quality brands and makes sure the condition is good. You will be surprised how well you can do. I found a designer raincoat at a Goodwill. You have to recognize quality and be prepared to spend some time looking.
Im wondering here on the fly: I wonder if we cut the labels out of our clothes, would we have a different opinion or an opinion at all on their quality? In other words how much do price and label infuence our opinion of quality garments? No answers required here but something to look at. For instance, I took a vintage bag to a leather repair shop to be mended. While there, I spied a Louis Vuitton bag on his worktable. "Nice bag" I said. "Well, cheap craftsmanship for the price they paid". This is no reflection on any brand featured here at all. Rather, the lesson is to look at quality of craftmanship before buying or keeping an item. Useful tips today as always.
UA-camr Jennifer Wang produces a number of videos on just this subject. What and where to look for quality revealing details , and why you should not rely on brands or stores to be consistently of a certain quality. Many of her recommendations are above a price I am comfortable with but her insight into what to look at has been useful.
Good to remind us that it does take effort to dress well. So many people think they don't have what it takes and then dress sloppily. They don't think that we ALL take the effort. Kay, love your videos and will always watch, that said- please ditch the 1 shirt side tucked and leave the other side untucked. I have not seen 1 woman wear this in the big city I live in...looks so messy. But I love the french tuck.
Agreed. I live in a place where we welcome 4M visitors per year (> Disneyland) from all around the world. They come with their fashion game ON and it's fun to observe. And never, not once, have I seen anyone dressed with one shirt side tucked in. Trust me, we see it ALL - the good, the bad and the ugly - just not THAT.
She is getting something from Fran and Eileen, kick back, discount, clothes or an outright paycheck. This is more a commercial than an "I want to help you" video.
It’s a sponsored video. Their clothes are lovely. I do better than many but couldn’t justify the cost of them. Take the ideas and implement them at your price range.
Yes, there is. I wouldn't pay $400 for a sweater, perhaps cashmere. I think Talbots is expensive, but not this much. Talbots has great sweaters, and I found great reductions towards end of winter.
Tip number 3 is so important for me! I have always had an outdoor/ active lifestyle but now with my husband having retired it has become more of that. it is making me rethink my clothing choices! Active wear for the gym and outside, sports bras, UPF and quickdry garments. I like to have a nicer shirt and other shoes that I can change up afterwards as we often stop somewhere after being out on our adventures. Style is an evolving process!
So true about buying for how you really live - I have some items in my closet that never get out to play because they're just too dressy for my retired lifestyle - I have seen advice to make a list of the things you do in a week - the bulk of your clothing money should be spent for the best quality you can afford for where you really spend your time, rather than on special occasion items you might only wear once and then never again. We really don't need that much clothing, but we need the right clothing for our needs - so much of what we have we don't really use so it's money wasted.
You always have the cutest handbags! To those objecting to your sponsor, everyone’s budgets are different, we can take inspiration from your looks and remember you need to make living too.
I appreciate all the work you put into your videos. I like Frank & Eileen clothing and have a few pieces in my closet that I enjoy wearing. Like anything else in life you take what applies and leave what doesn’t. Regardless of the items shown there is always a take away to incorporate into my life, budget and taste. I find that what makes fashion fun is seeing a piece I like and then trying to find similar items in my budget and color. You always look great in your videos and I have learned so much from you. Thanks!
Ooh, good idea to drape a long sleeved tee over shoulder (instead of sweater) in the summer! Much cooler, but with the look! I also love a popped collar on my button ups but my husband always comes around and flips it down, thinking I did it by mistake. Ha! Great tips today👍🏻
I love your videos, Kay. Thank you! I especially love when you remind us to buy clothes and dress for the life we actually have as opposed to our fantasy life or imaginary life. Ha! The first time I heard you say that it was like a light bulb went off for me. That’s me! Always wanting to be living in a dressier world. But I don’t live in a dressy world with a lot of opportunities to wear fancy clothes, so I’m learning to look stylish while also being casual. Thank you!!
Personally the clothes from Frank & Eileen look "old". Better options and prices at Ann Taylor Loft, Ann Taylor and Evereve. I have to agree with the half tuck, looks too undone.
Thank you for All of your really good advice . By following your advice I am finally dressing for ‘My Lifestyle’ I enjoy my wardrobe now and it is so much easier to reach in and bring something out I love wearing ❤️
P.s I’m loving the Front Tuck , as I’ve recently realised I am short waisted so if I do the full tuck in , it actually makes me look a bit squat , but when I do the front tuck it actually looks better . I know a lot of people don’t like the Half Tuck , but I do quite like it and it does suit me ( as it really suits you Kay) BUT! as I haven’t seen anyone where I live doing it I just don’t have the confidence to go out with it .
Thanks for all the great styling tips. So classy. Love the half tuck, full tuck & no tuck. Frank & Eileen clothing is lovely. I am looking forward to my first purchase.
Tucking in your top and wearing a nude shoe/sandal really adds polish. I love a half tuck in front, it looks finished. I never see the one side in the other out in our area. I don't like a dark shoe in summer, for longer legs a shoe that matches the skin tone. Thanks for the positive tips, your advice is sensible and doable!
Loved the video. You always look so pulled together and stylish. I looked at Frank & Eileen and they are a bit out if my price range for now, but lovely clothes. Have you ever considered doing a video on body proportions? I loved the red pants, white tee and white long shirt but I am having a hard time trying to figure out where things should hit me. I am 5’7”, so not really short and I have quite a few lbs to lose (working on it) but when I dress I feel like everything is sliding down. Yes I am in my 70s and nature/gravity is doing its thing. I have been for 3 bra fittings in the last year, and because I prefer no underwire, all the bras seem to “squash” the girls and not provide any shape. Anyway I was hoping, if I could figure out the proportions I might be able to look a little talker as opposed to chopped off. Just a thought. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I have stopped coloring my hair and boy has that put a turn into my wardrobe. Before I wore earth tones that just aren’t me anymore. Luckily grey is in fashion and I have been wearing this color along with more black and ivory. What I can’t figure out is what colors I can wear now with my grey and white hair color. Ant suggestions would be appreciated.
I recently had color analysis done because my hair is totally grey now also. I used to be a golden blonde. I found out that my color season is still the same, a spring. Your best colors don’t change with your hair color. Colors may go great with your hair, but wash your face out. I found that to be true. Hope this helps you.
I have stopped coloring mine as well! Absolutely 100% need to change my wardrobe to suit the cooler tones in my hair, as before I wore a lot of beiges and creams and more neutrals. Definitely liking brighter pinks (and all the pinks),purples/ lavenders, blues, white, black, and gray! And even cool tones of green. This winter will be slim pickings in my closet because of all my warm colors that just don't serve me well any more. Totally worth it, loving my Silvers and really excited to finish this grow out and see God's individual fingerprint of style on my head❤❤❤❤
The blouses are very beautiful, but way too much for my budget so I looked at the Tee, $120! Even if I was very wealthy, I couldn't splurge on this. That's just me.
Frank and Eileen is great. I shop on Poshmark a lot and have picked up 2 like new pieces and a huge discount. A linen shirt and popover top, 2 of their classic pieces. I love them and will be on the lookout for more. Also they do have a sale section and reloved section. ❤
Their clothes are beautiful but very expensive. I agree with paying for quality materials and workmanship but I'm not sure I could get myself to spend $400 on a casual dress. As for the half tuck button up shirt stye hack I think that will be like the MC Hammer pants of the 80's. You will look back at pics and videos and think "what was I wearing". Looks very unfinished and sloppy.
Totally agree- $250 for a button up shirt is .. I’m sorry .. ludicrous and certainly not in the budget of most people these days. I love Kay’s tips but the prices and non existent size inclusivity of these pieces show just how out of touch some are.
Agree on all points ! Reality check - when at a nearby large college town , I honestly did not see any gals of any age group doing the half tuck or the front tuck ! ( Same w/ frayed hems . ) 😂
I’m with you. I’ve found good quality in less expensive items and shoddy quality on higher-priced items. Sometimes it seems as though we’re buying a label that happens to have a garment attached. True style doesn’t come with a price tag.
Changing the subject - I'm disappointed with the plus size selection (so far) in the Nordstrom Preview. I found a couple items but very few of the items that Kay posted are showing in plus sizes. Any thoughts from others?
Hi Kay, thank you for these secrets and you’re right. But since I’ve grown, it’s hard, difficult to dress with pleasure. I’m trying to lose some weight… I’m a little bit down some days…Have a good week end.☀️🌸
Do you shop QVC? They sell stylish clothes fr petite to 4-5X. Not in every thing but lots of looks. I am very short. I have to get any dress that is petite shortened at the tailor. Most of us ladies have challenges finding the right fit. Give QVC a try you get 30 days to return if you do not like the piece. I also get my 5 1/2 shoes there.
I tried 3 times to sign up for the The Define Your Style...Refine Your Wardrobe style series headquarters but it would not confirm my decision to follow this program. I marked the selections but for some reason it kept telling me that I needed to check the boxes again and again. Just thought I would let you know I did want to join.
Hmm. There’s not really anything to join. Unless you’re trying to sign up for my newsletter. I’ll look into that. Try signing up here. eepurl.com/dv6yqz
(Melanie here) Hi Kay, I am looking for the video or email post when you had on some simple jewelry. There was a simple or delicate gold bracelet that had some pearls on it. It was recent. Can you help me locate that? I should have written down the information. Thank you.
I am one of your faithful followers, and I relate totally with your classic style look. HOWEVER -- I agree with the ladies down below that have stated the one side shirt tucked in, and one side out is not a good asymmetric look for anybody. It does not make your legs look longer or taller, or any part of your body appear thinner. And where do you think the first place the viewers eye goes?? Right to your middle, rather than your face, or travel up and down the garment. Sorry, but it looks like you went to the bathroom and forgot to finish the tuck job. Kay, I think you have so much taste and class in what you present. Please just stop!!
I think it is a little appalling that you would think it is appropriate to scold another grown woman about what she’s wearing or how she’s wearing it. You don’t have to like this style hack. That just really doesn’t bother me. If it bothers you that much that I wear it you may need to spend your viewing time elsewhere.
As a retired professional, I like most of your casual selections but, the half tuck shirt looks sloppy and unkept. Secondly, the prices of your recommended clothes are out of the range of most women. At my age I prefer changing styles more frequently. Talbots and Chico’s are my latest go to clothes companies.
Wonderful. I have a video lined up with Talbots in a couple of weeks. I enjoy being able to share things from a variety of retailers. I have many viewers who enjoy Frank & Eileen. I appreciate you watching today’s video. 💜
I hope she hasn't "sold out" to Frank and Eileen, but it is starting to appear that way. Maybe it is just this one video. Time will tell. She has moved to another level when she suggest $238 for a blouse. I find her less relatable.
@@DressedforMyDaywithKayHarms Yesterday, I was at Nordstrom and noticed the Frank and Eileen brand and came upon the striped button-up that you are wearing. They had the XS and I tried it on. Yes, the quality is absolutely beautiful, but as a petite woman, the XS was huge. Just letting you know that this brand doesn't work for us little ladies. You look wonderful in this blouse, though.
The clothes are lovely, but way too pricey for the average shopper. Maybe links to more affordable options would be beneficial to those of us who can’t afford $258 for a linen shirt.
This half tuck doesn't look stylish, it looks bad and it screams "I follow a fashion influencer!" Because nobody wears button up shirts like this. I've seen this ONLY on videos.😅

You deserve to feel good in the clothes you wear right now!
You are so welcome!🤗

Thank you Mary-Ann, ypur comment helps me. 😘💪
How do I arrange my closet?
Thank you so much! ❤
Thanks for being here!😊
I tried 3 times to sign up for the The Define Your Style...Refine Your Wardrobe style series headquarters but it would not confirm my decision to follow this program.
I have always enjoyed your videos but in this one you sound like a commercial for FranK and Eileen which tends to limit what you show.
(Melanie here) Hi Kay, I am looking for the video or email post when you had on some simple jewelry. There was a simple or delicate gold bracelet that had some pearls on it. It was recent. Can you help me locate that? I should have written down the information. Thank you.
Hi Melanie, I' think you're looking for this one: ua-cam.com/video/7wdGd6Sx2Qc/v-deo.html
@@DressedforMyDaywithKayHarms Thank you!
You look great in the striped shirt!
Thank you!😊
As a retired professional, I like most of your casual selections but, the half tuck shirt looks sloppy and unkept.
I love watching her but I find most of her clothing ideas are way too expensive. In today's economy, most can't afford to shop at the top sites.
Love their clothes, but way too pricey. So many influencers are going the high price route.
Too pricey, enjoy the videos, but sometimes you spend a lot of time promoting
This half tuck looks unfinished and sloppy. I travel all over the world no one does this. Your tips otherwise are right on.
❤❤
Congratulations on getting a Frank and Eileen sponsorship! Lovely brand of clothing. I do feel great wearing their clothing.
I totally agree! Thank you. I truly love everything about this brand. 😊
