JT, awesome video and content as usual! Just wanted to say that you are in my top 3-4 favorite channels (Farm Craft, Diesel Creek etc..) Keep going brother, with your humor and the way you make videos you have the potential to get much bigger!!

Brings back memories of my childhood. My farmer grandpa had a '66 GMC 1/2 ton and the dash is just yours. Great to see you resurrect this old equipment. My dad used the truck on a regular basis and got REAL smooth shifts by double clutching it....

I’ve tried double clutching, and I think the boxes are so worn out that it doesn’t make much difference. Always seems to grind the main box going into 4 th unless I get lucky lol. Otherwise she just keeps going along 😉

Basically what you have is known as Holley 500 CFM the one you currently have looks like an old Ford Autolite 2100 but it was me I convert it over to EFI system maybe something like the ACE Deuces Wild 2 EFI Kit and add Inline Frame Mounted Universal EFI Fuel Pump with C5 Corvette Filter / Regulator which used in LS swap and add return line the fuel tank

It's been 30 years since I've been in the cab of a 64GMC. I had a 64 with a 401 36,000 GVW it had a 5-speed with a split rear. It ran awesome but its top speed was about 55 with a tail wind 😂 your truck looks awesome 👍 keep up the good work ✌️🇺🇲

Whew, what a nice swap to a bigger shot of fire juice, yep and it does run good. But I did not know how you memorized the shifting of the gears. I mean I learned on a 3 on the tree, have done a 3 and 4 and 5 on the floor. But never ,I say never have I driven a 20 speed. I was lost as soon as you pulled out of the driveway. You moved the levels in a pattern I would have trouble remembering. Anyway more power to ya, and Fluffy.

The first Semi I drove on our farm was a 1979 Mack R Model with a 2 Stick Mack Transmission, nice old truck, but felt like it had no suspension. Thanks for the videos, Have a good weekend.

Good job JT! Absolutely love your truck! I have 3 old trucks that are in the process of, well, repair in some shape or form. '66 IH 1700 with 345 is getting an updated distributor as the original one belongs in a museum. It also needs electrical work done to it. 1980 IH (old smoky) with 9 ltr needs a clutch. '84 GMC w/427 4bbl is getting its 650 holly rebuilt. Also getting new distributor with wires, coils, and plugs. Also getting new t-stats as it has no heat. Used to be a Penske-Hertz truck and it is my favorite as it comes with rear disc brakes. This means no nail-biters when a quick stop is required. Thanks 😊 for all of your content JT as I can relate to your "disease" extremely well. 😊

You forgot to set the new gasket that you are not going to use on the intake and then take it off and hold it against the bottom of the new carburetor just as a check. Also sometimes the air filters would be shorter than required and wouldn't seal in the housing. Glad to see you are not putting a Holley on there. Had one of them start on fire.

Nice old GMC. I have a 64 Chevy C80 Bought in 67 Same truck other than
Grill , Dash and engine. Mine was originally 409 changed to 427 in 1980.
Been a great truck still used today.
For what's it worth, I would suggest double clutching the Aux. And slow shifting motion down on both.
You don't want to get into those boxes if avoided, parts are getting scarce.
Rears should be 7.17 ratio 38K Eatons.
New Sub here enjoying your adventures.

Just curious but are you sure that gas cap is a vented cap ? I doubt that a truck that old had a sealed fuel system......If it needs a vented cap then it may be starved for fuel after running a short time......just a thought.

I’m fairly sure it is. Has a little hole in the center inside. It doesn’t fit real tight either 😉

Not long. Had the basics of it, just had to perfect it on the road. Couple trips to the elevator and easy peasy

I don't know... 500cfm... might be time for a 5 point racing harness. If the engine was healthy it ought to be making about 200hp & 375 lb ft of torque so that ain't too bad. It'll be interesting to see how the old girl does on the hills when loaded.

JT it looks like your truck has 30 degree turn radius not the 35 degree turn radius . She purrs.

Some thing we do not have, gasoline driven trucks, small or large, every motor is diesel, this includes farm tractors, came as a bit of a shock after watching JT's barn n grill, his Massey 165 had spark plug leads, whats the world coming to, they have been diesel from the start of time, 1964 or there abouts...........Need to know, I counted 12 gear changes, is that the norm for such a small truck?.....whats the world co.........well you know whats coming next...........

    • @jtsbarnngrill6873
      @jtsbarnngrill6873  6 місяців тому +1

Keep in mind, the truck is a 64 one the 165 is a 70. So …. The correct saying is “what has the world come from 😆. Most tractors were diesels but the older trucks were a lot gassers. That is a 5x4 trans, but I don’t use all the gears. 1st on the main is too low to be necessary, and I generally start the aux in 2 nd and then just 3-4 as I’m up shifting

Alot of Tractors still had gas engines even into the late 1970s. IH, Ford, Massey, even Oliver , and John deere made 1100 MF and JD 4020s with Gas and LP engines

On a small utility tractor a gas engine was a blessing on a bitter cold morning that you didn’t expect to need a tractor. They’d fire right up with decent maintenance.

You silly goofball, 5 gallon comes in pails not drums 😆. And I can’t read anyway, should I just pour it in the gas tank? Man, I’m sure lucky to have a nice fella like you to leave kind words on my videos ☺️
