It does look nice. I painted a 79 Mack R Model Semi Truck years ago for my dad. We sanded and sanded, patched rust and went through hundreds of man hours getting it right for paint. My dad was cheap and didn’t know much about paint. We used some red metal primer he had from a job, that went on decent. He then went to the local farm store and bought a gallon of IH Red. I painted the red with minimal runs, that’s where the fun started, the paint and the primer never adhered to each other and 2 days later, you could scrape the red off with your finger. So it had to be power washed all back down, sanded back to bare metal. We then went to a friend who was a professional body shop, we purchased an epoxy primer, sealer and single stage top coat. I followed his instructions exactly and it turned out awesome for a shop paint job. That was a tough lesson learned. Thanks for the Videos, it’s sure going to be a huge difference from before and after.

I used to get teased by my Dads friends because when planting or harvest was over i would bring the tractors and even the combine and wash and wax them. So when i see you spiffing up the old Masseys it makes me remember some awesome times in my life with my dad and ofcourse Massey fergusions. Btw Cole the cornstar has a Massey 2745 for sale. Its a long way away from you but they have one.

JT you put a big smile on my face when I saw you using the aluminum foil. It also works very good for plugging holes that insects and rodents nest in. My east property line is in the middle of an irrigation canal and the mud daubers destroy everything precious like paint guns electric motors and anything else they can shove mud into so even short-term storage I plug holes with foil. It also helps keep the rat shit out of the places they love to shit in. Another favorite of mine when storing or masking is Saran Wrap. Now that I have sore elbows from patting myself on the back Its time to Call the tractor what it is becoming. "Not Nasty Ferguson". Thanks for the lesson on the epoxy eyelids. My lungs are in such bad shape I don't spray paint anymore but great information to know. Thanks as always for bringing us along.
Excellent video JT :) also yes that moisture rough year I had to prepare and paint was 2013 year at my work was not easy to it was so much humidity in air in day and do everything at night for 3 months July to September ! Was doing full size 1986 Ford Extended cab pickup F150 XLT gas model completely new box plus frame to cab to was task ! Primer took so long dry and sand up was worst also sorry say did 2 times! Plus paint was 2 tone color too do ! Box new came to Canada from California was 2 fuel tank type too ! But was worst one since 1994 when starting in Restoration vehicles too and so many need be done by deadlines dates! Yes primer or paint in eyes and agree to that had happened also lucky was to cleaning out too fast plus happened to me ! But easy clean to what do use old clean rag with WD40 and Warm Hot together also wipe light of plus have light air to and wash with Dove hand soap till see perfect no fuzzy seeing do that couple times and have shower head Spraying rub soap head to toes to with wash cloth soft ones! Yes may need do 2 times or more ! But wash with eyes close and blink couple times too till all gone primer and paint off ! Learning all this by professional primer and paint person too !

Great job! I repainted my 1135 back in 97 when I used to rebuild semi’s for a living. My late father and I actually rebuilt the engine in my department ( frame and mechanical side), then in the evenings I had it over in the body shop area, and then in the paint booths. It took about 3 weeks of weekends and evenings to complete it. I used automotive paint to repaint it, it was way superior to the original paint they used at the factory. It was a ton of work!! One thing I learned was that the aftermarket decals are junk, don’t waste your money on anything but factory ones. If you can still get them they are worth the price versus aftermarket ones that will crack and start peeling in a short time. One more thing.. If you use lacquer thinner on the window seals , make sure you go back and put something on them to condition the rubber because it’ll dry them out and promote checking. But you may already know this.
So far I’ve had good luck with the decal kits I’ve purchased from eBay. They’re heavy vinyl, got them on my 1155 and 1805. I’ve gotten some before that were considerably cheaper and they were indeed junk 😆. It’s a big job to get one of these painted up and nice!

Put axle grease on your tires when you're paying the rims. Any overspray will attach to the grease and once you're done you can simply wash off the grease
When I was a junior in high school I pulled our class float in the homecoming parade. My dad was a welder for a Massey dealer and they let me use a new 1155. After the parade I parked the tractor and float in the parking area and a friend of mine came over to me and said your either good or lucky come here. I got out of the cab and on the right side of the tractor was a new 1977 Ford 4X4 from the parade and the axel mount duel axel stuck out about 18” or more and was only about 1/2” from the new Ford pickup. I was lucky…

I think I just maybe able to get on the diesel grey but petrol one got loader on it. 165 don't know if I will be able to get into. L.o.l wish I could get back at it I got lots to do. But having to get my son to do most off it. He cand do my trucks but not worked on tractors. I'm hoping for a good summer so I can go up get them done with my boy. the only new tractor my family ever bought was the other red kind in 1972. no pride in that paint job. every hose and belt, ignition part was covered in paint. you are doing the tractor a great service with your masking :) does your wife know that those sheets are the ones great aunt Agnes gave to you for your wedding? 😂
Like the use of foil. Oven ready Massey right there. I put a straight through stainless pipe on my UK based 1135, sounds much better, and better visibility too.
Maybe a small dehumidifier would help your painting area, I've seen what one can and you would be amazed at the results. Keep up the good work, love your videos.
Hey JT, painting tires,NOT. Take some Dawn dish soap, make a watered down mix to brush on the tires. When it dries, then paint away. When the paint dries the soap will release the paint on the tires easily. It works great to keep the mortar from sticking to windows when you are putting bricks on your buildings.
@@billsauberlich7337 we were always told not to wipe the end of the grease gun on the tires. Maybe the painters are using a silicone base product. Any way the job of getting it off seems daunting compared to a quick hosing. The soap mixture will quickly release once it is rewetted.
Another little trick I seen on another yountube site? Take a paint brush and brush dawn dish soap on the tire before you paint the rim? Then you can just wash off the soap? Thanks for the videos
My MF253 has had paint on the hoses and hard piping since it was new. I guess they didn’t,t worry about things like that. They didn’t worry about drips either.

JT, can you fix my nasty ferguson 3pt lift problem 😂 Their use to be a tractor salvage where i live years ago and they just paint over the grease caked on their tractors. Owner said people buy em.😂
The gun is a ATD HVLP primer gun. Basic, simple and cheap! Gets the job done. I use DuPont/axalta imron 2.8 primer. It’s a polyurethane that is good on all bare metal/cast/aluminum ect. Not actually 100% sure it’s any of an epoxy, but it is the industrial primer and usually anything good for bare metal will have some epoxy in it.
I have an old DuPont ag code book and have it mixed at my local parts store. I use a single stage urethane on the frame and base/clear on the sheetmetal

salut meilleurs voeux pour 2024. une astuce pour la peinture des roues tu met de la graisse sur les pneux et sa s en vas tous seul au laveur haute pression apres tu peu faire de meme pour les vitres c est un vieux peintre qui m avait donner l astuce il y a longtemp
