Captain Jingles: Popsmokeslowdownhardtostarboardrudderamidshipsspeedupslowdownagainhardtostarboardrudderamidshipsspeedup. Helmsman: Sir, is there any other orders you'd like to give? Like to have the ship do a backflip?
I love it when you show some of your own gameplay Jingles. The videos are just better, you kind of explain the whole thinking process behind your actions in a way you just cannot for somebody else's replay. I did enjoy this alot and it could have been 2 hours longer I would not mind.
39:25 When the DD got too close to launch torps successfully it would have been awesome Jingles to do a flashback to a scene from 'The Red October', in the scene where Captain Bart Mancuso tells Ryan about 'Combat Tactics', in which Captain Marco Ramius closes the distance to the Russian Alpha, so that the Alpha's torps don't have a chance to arm themselves.
Great video Jingles! Your "fails" are very instructional and also encouraging. To know that *everyone* arses up from time to time makes the game far more enjoyable.
Yayyy! Jingles is playing World of Warships again! And he's playing the Cleveland again! Happy day! And everything you said about the Cleveland is 100 percent spot on. Stupidly long shell hang time (although supposedly the hang time was always that way, the big change was that WG buffed everyone's rudder shift time), great HE spammer, even better AP god when dealing with other cruisers. I managed to outgun a Molotov in a ranked battle today simply by angling better than he did and closing to within 10 km where he couldn't maneuver out of the way of my shells. Did all but 2k of his HP in damage to him, sank him to win the match. It was quite a fun brawl. A long time ago I was surrounded by 3 cruisers, and my friend (who was already dead and spectating) told me to look out! Three cruisers surrounding you! I laughed and said they were nothing to worry about, because one was almost dead and the other two were Nurnbergs. Killed the first, citadeled the living shit out of the other two, game over.
Sorry boys, but there was a forum post discussing this, and the conclusion was that there was no nerf to shell velocity, just a buff to rudder shift times.
My favorite torp stories. First I was starting off in the game and had the T3 Japanese destroyer and saw another destroyer of the same type coming in my direction, we start circling eachother and shooting then both of us fired a torpedo that killed us a few meters away from eachother. Other was when we were heading behind an island to take on part of the fleet and I saw that everyone was going in the same direction and so I circled the island and when I saw where I assumed the enemy ships were I started spamming the gap with torps, for the other team the options were fight a force coming in from one direction, or brave a few dozen randomly fired torps from a destroyer they couldn't see.
13:53 "Actually Jingles a theory is a set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested"
I once interrupted a friend of mine when he used the phrase "My theory is..." and argued about the definition of a scientific theory against literary theory for a solid hour.
Jingles, PLEASE do more videos like this. 40 minutes of just showing interesting WoW battles with your commentary is why I love your channel. One can tell that you had a good time doing it too, so how about some more? That and ship reviews with history lessons. Doesn't have to be a new ship either. Anyway, thanks for uploading.
The weird thing is that Suomy385 (the Hatsuharu torp derp at 39:00 ) does have more than 1300 battles thus far, with 220 of them in a CV, so how has he never noticed that torps don't do jack shit if you drop them too close to the enemy?
falloutghoul1 dude.... even when you aim your torps it shows you where they arm... he had all the necessary information to perform a correct torp attack but he made a bad play, which is suprising consiering his battle number...(why are you complaining about insults on the internet anyway xD)
***** That's true, however...you also know what kindof players play tier 10 tanks in WoT, right? Mabye he was like this "Im gonna get you bitch!" but then it didn't do anything...and then he went into "im always right and you're not" mode?
I get that jingles, been playing for about 4 days now and perhaps WoT knowledge helps a wee bit but I find myself usually in the top 4 on the board and really all I did was binge watch some of your videos and tried to absorb as much as I can-- so thanks for the great content and I look forward to you lighting me up like the 4th of July with HE XD
Jingles you could make a two long special and I would still sit and watch it! You're not just good at what you do you're one of the BEST! Keep at it and I promise the subscriber count will reflect this! Anyone who feels the same please share your favorite video on the social media of your choice!
I always start your videos thinking that Ill just watch a few minutes and then go play a round. And yet I finish every damn one. Cheers from California.
Also, the fire chance doesnt increase, In a volley of 4 guns, you get a total of 32% chance of fire, a volley of just the 2 upgraded guns only has 16% chance of fire.
It's pretty old, and I dimly recall the source. Either an Amiga game, or SNES. Okay. The source is mentioned in at least two other posts in these comments. It's the Space Crusade game.
@19:17 Louie, Louie, Louie, Louie~ie. Love that ship, it's the Dakkamancer of Tier 3 Kinda surprised though that it's captain was Salvo-ing. I've only ever used it as a machinegunner. (heck, only ever saw it being used that way too.)
The trick I've started using in the Mutsuki that helps is to use the captain skill that increases the speed of the torpedoes. The 10km torpedoes become 8km torpedoes which still give you a good cushion between your surface spotting distance and the torp range, but they are significantly faster. It's the only time I've found that skill to be useful.
Jingles! With the Mutsuki, use the Torpedo Acceleration captain skill. You do lose torpedo range (-20%), but you gain torpedo speed (+5 knots). This is particularly good with the Japanese destroyers. Let's take a look at the Mutsuki, then. With the second torpedo type, you have 59 knots speed with a range of 10 km. With this skill, you end up having 64 knots speed with a range of 8 km. This is much nicer! Since the unmodified torpedos are slow, you're not going to be hitting much at 10 km range anyways, not to mention that the extra speed will make it easier to hit at all ranges. With the Minekaze, you have 7 km range, so these 8 km range torpedos in the Mutsuki are a slight upgrade! Consider running it like this, I'm sure you'll find it easier :)
However, if you want to keep the captain into the higher tiers without paying doubloons you may not want to get the skill. The Shimakaze gets three choices in torpedoes with the worthless 20km Type 93 mod 1 torps that can be seen from the moon, 12km middle ground Type 93 mod 3 torps, and 8km warp speed F3 torps. Torp Acceleration on the 12km torps brings them to 9.6km range. It's usable, but they're still slower than the unmodified F3s. They can actually be too fast for island ambushing. Plus, having to close to ~7km for every single torp attack (not just the perfect ones on a completely unsuspecting target) at tier 10 can be incredibly risky. CV planes and float planes everywhere. Plus you are deep within range of even US radar and it's quite difficult to escape that pickle. Having the 12km range allows you some wiggle room and a bit extra range to maybe hit another ship behind your target. You are also stealth fire capable with AFT, so the range lets you both torp and fire from stealth.
I have never seen this video before but when he was fighting the New York I was yelling at my screen. "Jingles, USE YOUR TORPEDOES!!!"...goddamn it jingles...
Technically it isn't the turrets of the Aoba. It is the war time configuration of the Furutaka class. The Aoba class started out as Furutaka class on the slips but received modifications before launch to make it a new class.
Fun fact, Jingles: You won't read this. Another fun fact for when he describes Situation Awareness: Since 0.5.5 there is now a 3 second delay for the skill. When you are spotted and the icon pops up, your opponent can't actually see you for another 3 seconds. However, there is also a 3 second delay for when the icon goes away; your opponent can still see you for 3 seconds after the icon disappears. This means that a DD moving at speed and dumping smoke will no longer blink in and out of visibility. When a smoke puff is generated, you start the 3 second countdown before going unspotted, but then exit the puff into visibility before that's up. Also, remember that shell flight time is still a thing. An Izumo or Yamato secondary guns can take around 7 seconds to travel out to 10km. This means that you can still see secondary shells coming your way up to around 10 seconds after the icon disappears.
At the very least the delay when the icon disappears is new. Before a DD would pop in and out of detection when laying smoke at speed. It constantly stays detected now.
+Final Spark no its not, SA has worked that way since alpha, they probably changed how the engine does its spotting checks. SA has been the same since launch. People are only now seeing the effect because 1 person thought it was broken, went to reddit and then got proven wrong but everyome still thinks the 3 sec delay is new. Its been the same, WG comfrimed the testers. They probs changed the engine to do spotting checks like WoT

4:37 Reminds me of Parker in _Thunderbirds Are Go_ (1966) just before he shoots down the helicopter: "Just a li'l bit to the right, ol' son... Thank you very much."
1:14 "Is Jingles going to forget the he has torpedoes again? Nah, he did that twice last week." 4:15 "Jingles! He's gonna torp you! Oh wait. American cruiser NM. So why aren't you torping him? Is the embarrassing thing that you didn't check your torpedo range?" 7:32 "JINGLES! You NOOB!"
I don't know the actual distance, but when you select torpedoes, the green firing arc indicators show the arming range. IOW there is an empty space between the side of your ship and the inside of the indicator. The torps will arm once they reach the beginning of the indicator, so anything inside of that "dead zone" won't take damage. - Laird Moyashi -
Only air-dropped torpedoes have an arming distance. And it's not very long, maybe 0,5km. All other torpedoes have no arming distance. Alright, apparently they DO have an arming range. Forget what I said.
+BrakeHorsePower92 That's not true. When you select torpedoes in a destroyer the green area is slightly away from the ship. The gap where there's no green area is its arming distance. If you're right beside an enemy bb for example and drop torpedoes they won't do anything.
I imagine rear admiral Jingles shouting. Jingles -Torpedo's!lounch the bloody torpedo's! Commander -Umm...sir...we Don't have torpedo's... Jingles - What?! Damn you Billy!...admiral Boo , what should we do? Boo -Bau! Commander - ...? Jingles - ...You Heard him! Ramming speed! sry for my english fel fre to cerect me in the comments and i will edit the post :) thx
Oh..my God...Mighty Jingles...what is that song you used? and wow...I have not seen any of your videos for a long time..I am a fan and gonna binge watch. All Hail The Mighty Jingles!!
Mutsuki although having only 2 guns, has them rotating much faster than those on Minekaze for instance - which is perfect for close knife duels with them as Mutsuki's guns can track the target while Minekaze's can't. No where do they rotate on battle ship level! If you got patience with those torpedoes and know how to position yourself Mutsuki is a great DD. Yeah, difficult to play but I prefered it to Minekaze as staying out of detection range due to those torpedoes made me survive much longer. Mutsuki's guns are also dual purpose - help with taking down planes which makes it possible to shoot down a full squad of planes overhead if a CV decides to perma spot you.
DP stands for Dual Purpose guns. Meaning they also serve in AA role. Yes, Mutsuki before the last major AA overhaul had decent AA to fend off planes. Not having played it since 0.5.3 when the AA was changed drastically to focus on harder hitting long range AA guns, I don't know what the situation is nowadays. But it sure has much much better AA than Minekaze and can fend off planes if CV is trying to perma spot you. CV of the same tier or lower that is. :)
Well actually Jingles, the New York did not set you on fire with his lousy 14 inch shells, he citadel you with his AP. YOU set HIM on fire with your HE
I had a similar game in the mutsuki today, a colorado kept on sailing in straight lines, even after I already hit him with 1 salvo, he didn't last long...
Cleveland + AP = Best kept secret in the game. No Citadels against a BB but can dish out serious damage in a hurry to one sailing broadside on to a smart Cleveland driver that understands this.
The best I can tell so far is that it sounds like its from the NES or SNES. Though I don't actually know for sure if it really does (cause there are some people who make NES/SNES like songs) But if it does come from an NES/SNES game, I don't know which one.
When the music come on at around the 33 min mark. I thought the best possible music to play instead of the music that was playing would be the mortal kombat movie theme tune

This might be one of the best videos from this year, good pace and well edited; just a solid 40 min.
Molotov torps are so stealthy that captains forget they have them too.
Lolz!
And that's why i saw people in some servers they never use torpedoes because it's so *STEALTHY*
russian torp OP plz nerf ;)
stop bitching and grow up

Cleave lost a LARGE amount of speed on his shells after the nerf. used to have much better flat trajectory in close range as well.
Sorry boys, but there was a forum post discussing this, and the conclusion was that there was no nerf to shell velocity, just a buff to rudder shift times.
Magni56 agreed. The Cleveland lost something like 150 mps on it's shell travel time.
onebigfatguy
Oh yeah? Was that in the game data or is that just how it "felt" to you?
thelastholdout I was part of the early beta testing. It's shells were rated at over 800 Mps before it guns were nerfed. they now stand at 653 Mps.

Love the piece of music playing during the "Furious tako" segment, havn't heard that piece since playing "Space Crusade" on my old Amiga 1200
Does the Molotov get set on fire a lot?
Yes it does. It really is made of glass.
Keep it at range and its glorious.

Thanks RA Jingles- very enjoyable as usual.
I'd love to see more of these videos, they're entertaining and informative as always!
I always start your videos thinking that Ill just watch a few minutes and then go play a round. And yet I finish every damn one. Cheers from California.
Hi from New Zealand . Having a great laugh at your take on things. Lotsa chuckles ..... keep it up
awesome commentary for the campbelltown jingles
To be fair, the "top" hull of the Mutsuki is an AA version of her that loses 2 main guns. Its optional, not required. The only thing it gains is AA.
And the remaining 2 main battery gun get their fire rate doubled and turn rate massively improved so it loses nothing
You also get new guns that have double the reload speed and take 18 seconds to make 180 degree turn as opposed to 30 seconds on the original ones.
yea but if you lose one gun, thats 50% of your firepower gone, as opposed a quarter with the earlier "non-aa" versions,
Also, the fire chance doesnt increase, In a volley of 4 guns, you get a total of 32% chance of fire, a volley of just the 2 upgraded guns only has 16% chance of fire.
The AA hull, even with the upgrades on the guns, isnt as good overall.
Ferengi Testicle...mhmm...not too sure what to make of that. Lmao. xD
Oh hail to the might Jingles....

Jingles, you should start a TV show because the length of your episodes are just as long as a TV show without the commercials
Jingles you are spoling us with all these long videos :D
I dont normally comment on videos , but this was a good video Sir Jingles ^^ , one of the best in a while .
having a tough old time with the Mutsuke at the moment, perhaps I'll try that tip of skulking alongside friendly BB next time.

Kinda surprised though that it's captain was Salvo-ing. I've only ever used it as a machinegunner. (heck, only ever saw it being used that way too.)

Yeah you at least get pretty quick torps then...but you then basically turn it into a slightly meh minekaze at tier 6....

wow, did not know that they change the gun layout of the furutaka... miss playing WOWS. nice video jingles.. moooooooorrrreeeeee =)
I imagine Jingles as Captain Barbossa. Whatever is happening, he's there at the helm loling his ass off.
I wasn’t aware you pulled your music from a Dutch EDM concert....
Jingles loves getting hit by torpedoes but forgets he has torpedoes to fire back. Just like a Limey
1:14 "Is Jingles going to forget the he has torpedoes again? Nah, he did that twice last week."
4:15 "Jingles! He's gonna torp you! Oh wait. American cruiser NM. So why aren't you torping him? Is the embarrassing thing that you didn't check your torpedo range?"
7:32 "JINGLES! You NOOB!"
yes jingles you told us about the molotov game in the indionapolis review
Is there a rule of thumb for the arming distance for torp's? Curious minds would like to know.

Do you need it? If you're close enough to an enemy ship for that to matter, in a DD, you better be full steam the fck away
Thank you.
Love it Jingles! Keep it up.
Screw your grammar mistakes, your comment is epic! xD
English was fine :)
But normally when making a dog noise in English it's "Woof"
Strange how it's different in different places :D
"Arf" in my tongue, when a dog barks...... xD Really crazy.
ServantOfOdin in mine is "ham"...
Oh..my God...Mighty Jingles...what is that song you used? and wow...I have not seen any of your videos for a long time..I am a fan and gonna binge watch. All Hail The Mighty Jingles!!
Actually Jingles, the New Mexico at 23:00 did change course and you would not have hit her if she hadn't.
Not only that, but the New Mexico didn't take a citadel hit, it was being torpedoed by bombers, and avoiding those.
ERMERGERD, 20 year flashback of playing Spacecrusade when the furrytacho section came on. Time to dig out the 500+ from the garage me thinks lmao.
I like to drive the Russian tier 1 destroyer IJN warspite because it’s AA torpedos are amazing and it’s 16 inch guns do so much damage.
You can SHOOT planes w/ armament? I thought it was only possible w/ AA
YOU set HIM on fire with your HE
God I wish I activated the recording somehow I had such a funny plot twisting battle yesterday. Glorious
21:20 - the question is, do the guns on the Mutsuki make the guns on the Umikaze look good?
I had a similar game in the mutsuki today, a colorado kept on sailing in straight lines, even after I already hit him with 1 salvo, he didn't last long...
I'll agree with the Colonel, very good video, don't worry about videos being long Jingles. Like the torpedo fail kinda funny.
For that first clip I kept thinking, those torpedoes would be perfect!!!
Cleveland + AP = Best kept secret in the game. No Citadels against a BB but can dish out serious damage in a hurry to one sailing broadside on to a smart Cleveland driver that understands this.
I should watch more of your WoWS videos, I really enjoyed this one although I really didn't understand everything that was going on. xp
I love "the Fast Show", or "Brilliant" as it's called here across the Pond...
@The Mighty Jingles
Jingles/Jeremy Clarkson:"How hard can it be?"
Jedi/Richard Hammond:"DON'T SAY THAT!"
Name of song at 34:00?
sa rude danstorm
-_-
xD
The best I can tell so far is that it sounds like its from the NES or SNES. Though I don't actually know for sure if it really does (cause there are some people who make NES/SNES like songs) But if it does come from an NES/SNES game, I don't know which one.
space crusade intro music
"Old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill" ~ Murphy's Law
When the music come on at around the 33 min mark. I thought the best possible music to play instead of the music that was playing would be the mortal kombat movie theme tune
