The 7-Up spot commercials are classics. Brings me back to my childhood. Thanks for uploading.
Lucky to be a kid back then when a lot of TV content was geared towards kids, so many cartoon specials for the holidays
I completely agree!
It's cool to me how the commercial breaks conveyed that these were shows meant for the whole family and intended to be enjoyed by everyone.
Just look at this volume; you have ads for adult products, kids products, and commercials geared toward both parents and young adults all in the same broadcast. That's how you know that these programs were truly transcending generations, and that these networks and creators wanted to give people something to bond over.
Frankly, even though I was born in 1999, these older commercials remind me of why I love watching them in the first place.
They don't just pay for shows, they tell their stories and give you an idea of what their about through the advertised products and the way they're presented. These commercials make already great shows even better. They have this interesting way of getting you to appreciate all the wonderful things and ideas in life.
I know that sounds corny, but I really do believe these old commercials hold that kind of value for me.
I entered Middle School and the sixth grade in 89, and volunteered to write for the school paper. The editor put me on as a film critic, and asked me if I had seen The Land Before Time, as he had seen it on video with his kid recently. I had, and he wanted it to be my first review, along with Tim Burton’s Batman.
It was the also the start of my career as a film critic, as from 2005 to last year, I ran a personal movie review blog. Never made any money, just did it for my love of film. I wound up writing over 2,200 reviews of films I saw in theaters during that 18 year period. Now I’m making strides to being a screenwriter, so maybe people will one day critique my work like I did for so long.
9:24 - Huh. Never thought I would see Alex Trebek wearing spandex and trying to escape from handcuffs.
Never knew there was a Max plushie from Little Mermaid. I remember department store chains always did stuffed toys for major animated releases at the time. Sears sold Fievel plushies for the release of An American Tail, as well as Oliver and Company toys a couple years later. And J.C. Penney’s had Land Before Time dolls.
I have that same commercial for The Land Before Time VHS on a taping of an airing of that "I Love Lucy" special that CBS also aired around the same time.
I still find it hard to believe the Land Before Time spanned so many sequels, and a (albeit short lived) TV show!
Omg Precious place from fisher price ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Man, don’t we miss Ray Combs hosting Family Feud back in the 80s. And yes, we also miss RadioShack.
It was nice when CBS had almost all the GOOD animated specials every year. Plus the iconic SPECIAL intro!
Was that ALEX TREBEK being an escape artist there? How we miss TV of the 80s right?
“Unless they’re weird, they’ll eat it.” Interesting 🤔
