    Only Ed could make strapping a rock sound exciting. Great video!

    This is all information that I will never personally need to use, yet I absolutely Love to watch and learn because of the joy involved in your teaching, Ed. The tone of the whole vid, the smiles expressed between all the workers, the care and consideration in every move, it’s easy to become fascinated with when there’s real joy in doing what you do.
    As always, thank you for sharing!
    (And I hope the chipmunk fam finds a safe new place to nest! 🖤)

    This was wonderful! Thank you for taking the time to post it. I just had two dump truckloads of boulders laid out in the front of my property in two huge piles, and your video will be invaluable to how this project goes.

    Great vid!! I have an old backhoe and was having a hard time with the large rocks I believe your instructions are going to greatly help my project. Can you tell me the length of the 2 inch strap the rocks I have to move are similar in size.

    I always have a takeaway from the team Aquascape videos but this one is one of the top videos for me. Ed what was the reasoning/purpose of using the concrete cloth inside the pond over a plain rock pad or underlayment? Love those rock lifting bars where do you get those? Great Job Ed!

    A company I used to work for used microphone headsets. The operator and 1 guy would have them to talk to each other so you won't have to take your hands off the the rock. This will work great for you guys with some of those big stones that you have been setting. Plus you can't alway see the operator

    Ed - second question. How deep do chipmunks or ground squirrels dig? Really the question is how deep do I need to go on a waterfall with the concrete cloth? I know we have a healthy population of ground squirrels where we are building the new pond. Thanks for your help and happy thanksgiving!

    Hey ed why not drop the bucket off and use a d shackle to attach the strap to the digger arm...give a greater lifting capacity and no straps get sliced off

    • @redtiger546
      @redtiger546 5 років тому +2

      thats how we do it anyway, takes a fraction longer but no straps get wrecked

    • @edbeaulieu5916
      @edbeaulieu5916 5 років тому +2

      In certain situations we will and we probably could have done that for this project.
      On our typical projects we’re using the excavator to dig prior to setting the stones and we use the bucket for backfilling behind the boulders with soil or gravel depending on the requirements.

    I would’ve just picked those rocks up with the bucket and thumb they had on that machine!! 4 times faster and no body has to be around those huge rocks!! Would it may have put scratch marks on the rocks, yes possibly but those will buff out and plus it takes half the time and time is money!

    • @moavic5087

      They’re trying to preserve the way the rock was set and also not destroy any of the under rubber layer.

    • @markmorgan5892
      @markmorgan5892 5 років тому +1

      Moa Vic yeah but a good operator could pic that rock and set it back Exactly where it was picked from and not harm a single thing. But there are also prob 3-4 other ways that u could do it. I just seen that machine had a thumb on it. Absolutely love the work these guys do though!!!

    • @edbeaulieu5916
      @edbeaulieu5916 5 років тому +2

      Mark Morgan The thumb is an incredible tool!!!
      We use it all the time but for specific rock placement nothing beats a strap.
      I’ve had thumbs fail and rocks fall out of the jaws which is not a good situation......
      We definitely use both and a great observation on your part.
      Thanks for your support!

    • @markmorgan5892
      @markmorgan5892 5 років тому +2

      Ed Beaulieu your welcome, and yeah I agree with you there, sometimes they do give out. My dad owns a demolition company and so I’ve been using thumbs on machines for 15 years or more and yeah there isn’t nothing like holding a 7,000lb piece of concrete and the hose break or something like that and it drops out of the thumb and bucket! Also just wanted to tell you guys that my favorite one I’ve seen so far is the one you guys did down in Columbia I think it was, for that big mall down there. UNREAL man, LOVED IT!!!!
