I only have three characters over 600 light in the second game and maxed out characters on destiny 1 which was a much better game than 2

2:59 the best part is that usually the people that actually work hard to make the games don’t see a dime. Activision does massive layoffs at the end of the year and then gives multi-million dollar bonuses to their CEO. Bobby famously gives HIMSELF a yearly bonus that amounts to billions, while firing all the people that made his games for him while working on dogshit conditions.

During an interview hiddenxperia with Marty O’Donnel, Marty said to them about a meeting they had about getting in a publishing deal with Activision and Marty talked about a good talk lesson about “be good to the golden goose cause if you be good and be nice to the golden goose, the golden goose will always lay golden eggs”, in response the Activision person said “yeah Marty that sounds really good but.... there’s nothing wrong about a good “Foie Gras...” a foie gras is a duck dish.... till this day that memory still haunts Marty and he wished he should of told the team to bail and leave for another publisher.

Randomness 10150 I disagree with that. While I love Nintendo they do the exact same thing Destiny does in the sense that they've been hashing out the same game with a few extra gimmicks and graphics for ages. Mario, sonic, Kirby, all of this has been hashed out for the longest time. Of course they do release the occasional independent game then go back to the usual.
Daniel DaSilva sure they released the same games for 30 years but what makes nintendo amazing is each game they make are still fun and an enjoyable experience(in my opinion)
Daniel DaSilva The reason people still like it is that it still makes fun and enjoyable games, and they mix their games up once in a while, like what we they did with The Legend of Zelda in Breath of the Wild or Splatoon, an entirely new game franchise all together. Yes, they do rehash games, that is undeniable, but they are all mostly fun and give the player a great time playing.
Ironically, I disagreed with this video in the past... but after Beyond Light I am officially never playing Destiny again. It's a shame I don't like it anymore, I was a big fan since Day 1 Destiny 1 Beta.
I remember the first time I played Destiny 2, it was fun at first, then just” Hey, you can grind the same level for 4 hours to get this cool, fire gun!” Uhh, no
at least now you only need to grind 10 more levels

When i found destiny 2 i saw a free to play which i tried and fell in love with it was so fun to me i couldn't believe it gameplay was 10/10 and story i didn't see and i ignored it cuz i can ignore story in a video game (except if it's good) and i didn't even know about microtransaction i just had fun.Of course that's just my opinion.
Bungie always make your 5sec gamplay fun that's why it is addictive to some but they also used to excel at story and customization

Hey man, you bring up some good points in this video but I think it's time to make another one of these. As a destiny player who's been playing since elementary school I am also semi dissatisfied with Bungie. I had high hopes after forsaken from year 2 but everything has gone so wrong and it makes me sad.

I can explain, we keep playing through it because of it died, it would never have evolved and would have ended then and there. We kept playing through the hell so the one day bungie could change it, they could fix everything activision had caused. It was because we arrived to see the game improve, that we kept playing even though we complained, the community is a loyal community willing to stay with the game even though It's in a rough spot because we see the possibility of what the future holds.

I just started playing Destiny 2 and honestly I’ve loved it so far. However, that’s only because I’ve been able to play through all the content they’ve made up to this point, so I can honestly see why everyone is pissed at Bungie. If I had payed 60$ to play Red Legion alone, and had to wait years for enough content to be released to justify the money, I would be pissed off too.
Bungie has since split from Activision, which explains the actually good parts of the game.
I’m just mad that people that payed for everything before the majority of the game became free didn’t get anything, I think we should get like 100$ in silver so we can get season passes

Perhaps it is time for a sequel of this video Destiny has changed a lot since the past and it's sequel has changed a lot for the better
Now destiny 2 is free to play justifying lack of core main content with the Activision split and 2 more years of planned updates to fulfill the original 10 year plan it's actually looking good also I feel a lot of people don't understand what destiny is its mmo rpg grinding is baked into the core with the best content being end game but if you don't want to grind for it wait 3 months and you can play it without any grind

It was expected to be the best game of the next 5 years when you see “From the creators of Halo” but then you saw “and the company that brought you Call of Duty” and you knew that it was instantly going to be bad
Back then in 2019, I was naive and left a hate comment. Today I say we need a modern day version of this video.
I found ur vids a couple days ago. Fast forward to today when i search for some destiny hate and once again bumped into this vid. And i 100% agree they didnt deliver what they promised.
Not to offend any fans, but I think this video has more of a story than the game.
Nick Neumann Destiny has an amazing amount of lore, but the way it was implemented was very poorly done. Look in to what happened during Destiny 1's development; the game was doomed from the start because of horrible decision making on what otherwise could have been an incredible game. Destiny 2 has a pretty solid story overall, but I'm still wishing for an in-game grimoire.

I heard that the reason the game did so poorly is because Activision fired a lot of the people who made halo good and other employees left mid development so they could make halo at 343 studios. Activision also bossed Bungie around when developing the game.
Why indie games are so popular nowadays... Just compare to Cuphead. Maybe it's frustratingly hard, but at least, it's a game. Not a pretty picture asking you for money.
Supershadow301 To be fair, Cuphead has received a lot of attention because of its brilliant aesthetics(although the gameplay itself feels satisfying as well.). And good indie games have always been popular, not as mainstream as AAA, but still popular.
This vid sortof explains why I mainly buy and play good indie games: indie devs are usually in the business following their passion, so they almost treat their game like their own child. They also can't afford to be lazy greedy sh*ts like big studios are because they don't have the resources to fall back to. As a result, we get cute little games with memorable gameplay(and sometimes great story), some of them being outright brilliant. (e.g Terraria, TBoI, Etg, Cuphead, Nuclear throne, Super meat boy, Hyper Light Drifter, Stardew Valley, Gigantic, any game made by behemoth studios, any game made by super giant games, Shovel Knight, I can go on forever.)

But why does a game have to last you for an unspecified amount of time that is implied to be extremely long? An incredible experience that lasts a short amount of time is always going to be better than a mediocre experience that can barely hold itself up to standards, but which lasts for an inordinate amount of time
I agree with Blackmagegalayis. A good game isn't always a long game. Look at Portal 2 for instance: it's about 2 hours long. Is it long? Nope. Is it great? Damn right it is. Compare this to most "+100 hours open world fps" and you'll find that they aren't that good.

Here literal days before the shaders get fixed to the new system and realizing this videos beats don't hit almost at all anymore. Though it hits d1 on the head but d2 is basically new game now

I have been with this game for a good while now. I place it somewhat above star wars universe but a bit below halos and Cowboy bebop in terms of how a space age Sci fi setting goes. The fact that the lore goes way deeper than most games I've seen, and not all of it to do with whatever is happening in the game at the current mo.ent is enough to make me want more. The game play can be repetitive in certain aspects. But as soon as a good mission comes through or a season goes the way we need it to (Luke Smith being sunset) not to mention how good the gunplay feels alongside how armor works in the game. BTW the only way the ever verse store affected the guns was during that Era where the longer barrels of the ornaments caused buffs in range. But that's gone in favor of cosmetics and emotes. Things are looking good so far. Hopefully this means by the next expansion in 2022 we will have a better overall game. It's good now. And I hope people can see that.

The difference is that I actually have fun playing Infinite and the campaign is great (and get this?) has great character writing, good enemy design, an enticing story, an actual feeling your character matters. all things Destiny and D2 doesn't have.
of all the people I've seen play the game I haven't seen one truly smile ear to ear and say they enjoy the experience; not to mention it looks like the most disappointingly boring and dull game ever. Every expansion is the same (apart from witch queen) where the enemies don't compliment each other like the: Elites, Jackals, Grunts and Brutes from Halo, nor are they iconic like the mobs from Minecraft: they're just bullet sponges with basically 0 thought put into them. *And don't even get me started on the story and the travesty that is, even though it comes from the makers of: HALO CE, HALO 2 AND HALO 3...*

In Destiny 1, I ate that shit up on launch. I beat the raid on the hardest difficulty multiple times, but once I had my myhtoclast, I lost interest entirely, waiting for the next content drop. I wouldn't pick up the full copy until after Destiny 2 was announced. And I loved it again, I got a used copy of Destiny 2 for Xbox 2 days after release, and returned it within a week. The gunplay is so good, and having abilities is the spice I like in an FPS. But it is such a shell of a game, with so much potential I enjoyed the game for what it offered, but gave up because there was no depth.

He kinda lied about the micro transactions, they were in destiny 1 and in destiny 2 they give you more shaders then you could want for free and you can buy the coolest ones for a very small amount of in game currency that you get from dismantling shaders. The mod stuff too, they just give mods away left and right for free, sure you can spend real money to have a chance of getting one too but it's never worth it.

Conveying lore does not require exposition. The same way conveying _story_ itself does not, or conveying _intent_. There's a reason "newsposition" in various forms are Cinema Sins. A talking head is boring as sh*t, and sure, you can say Elder Scrolls has absolute metric tons of lore, but if you need to sit down, in a VIDEO GAME, to read whole novels, just give me the novels. I can save the 400W of power for however many hours would be required. I bought a game-an INTERACTIVE medium-not a book-dead trees being about as useful as dead trees can be.
@@GothAlice you know that there are types of games that are fueled by the lore, right? If YOU don't want to read while you're playing, it's your business. But there are people who like to read the grimoire or whatsoever other books of lore are in the game without having to pay for other books or having to go on a specific site to read it.
Most of Rpg games tell a story while playing the campaign, and a story without a good background make a terrible game.

I hate to nitpick your video but the only reason you liked the music in Destiny is because Marty O'Donnell composed it, one of Bungies cofounders who also composed the Halo music. Who Bungie fired in 2014, and tried to strip him of his stock. Go read about that. You thought your opinion of today's Bungie couldn't get lower well think again.

FightNight I've been a Destiny fan since year one, and the community is well aware of all the problems with the game. Check out the Destiny subreddit and you'll see the salt in the community. Thing is I still love the game because the gameplay is fantastic. My biggest complaint with D2 is the lack of an endgame and limited mode selections in Crucible, but I trust the live team at Bungie to bring the game up above D1 in time. I hate the DLC model Destiny has, but at the same time you have to understand that game prices have not changed since 360/PS3 era yet development costs are constantly rising. I would say I've gotten more out of vanilla D2 than I have with many other AAA games, and I'm willing to pay for the DLCs to expand on the game.

I watched this video a while back and it gave me a negative impression of Destiny for the longest time
but after being peer pressured (basically lmao), my friends convinced me to download the game and honestly?
Destiny 2 may be one of my favorite gaming experiences I've ever played.

It is a good game, and it's very fun, but it betrayed its loyal fanbase multiple times now. A lot of bad blood between day one players (like me) and the producers.

Destiny 2 launch was not made for the fanbase, it was made with a gun to vungies head to be the next CoD with yearly releases and to rope in as many new people as possible for money. We've been through alot since then and yeah we got shit like the Undeserved sunsetting of Seasonal Content/ Forsaken and Sunsetting but it after some thinking its for the better (exept vaulting forsakens story that was a mistake ngl)

i personally had so much fun with d2 but yes it was kinda, lackluster BUT THAT DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT that it was fun as a group and i made many memories with some great friends on some of the raids
So, I'm not the only one! I thought it was dumb to have expansion packs cost more than the game itself, but all friends who like destiny made fun of me and called me a Nintendo fanboy because I only buy Nintendo consoles, but I like Nintendo because when I buy a game, I get the full experience and not have to buy a $150 game.

I fully agree. Having optional DLC, or DLC that adds another story, is the kind I like. Shovel Knight did some cool stuff too by just having free DLC and creating brand new games like with Plague and Spector Knight. I'm totally fine with paying for DLC when it's worth it, like say the Master Trials for Breath of the Wild. Seems like a brand new story and extended fun.
When DLC doesn't really extend my playtime for a game but just cripples me in a certain part of the game for not buying all of it, then it's just a cash grab. It gets annoying because I thought I already payed the initial price, which is already high enough on it's own.
This is definitely not something Nintendo are exempt from to be honest.

And I say that as somebody who collects Amiibos and has like 50 of the damn things.
Too many games lock content behind Amiibo which is the same exact thing as DLC except now you have to worry about scalpers because Nintendo are too stupid to ever stock enough of ANY PRODUCT THEY EVER MAKE.
Good luck getting one of those squishy Metroid amiibos that Fusion Mode is locked behind.
They also make actual DLC and season passes, Hyrule Warriors for instance has an insane amount of DLC. As do many 3DS games.

The idea of making collectables give you certain things in a game is interesting, but I feel Nintendo did it wrong and they're not even trying to fix it at this point.
I never played Destiny 1 nor I have the intention to play Destiny 2.
Besides the huge marketing machine behind it, I never saw what was the appeal in the game.
But hey, maybe that's because I'm not so much into FPS in the first place.
I can't say anything, i mean dont get me wrong i love destiny i have 1500+ hrs on it its a good game but we have personal preferences.
The only MP shooters I play are Quake, TF2, and Overwatch. Destiny has no appeal to me because it contains a shit ton of MMO elements that it feels like such a drag. I stray away from those kinds of games because of how time-consuming it can be.
AirbagVII I was kinda interested because of the amazing art direction until I saw the pvp gameplay. Shit looked awful. Too much time between actual fights that last too short, and the fights themselves just look like "who can aim downsights better" rather than the creative and wacky pvp that any other class and loadout based shooter has. Campaign also looks like a grind with no creative enemy variations or abilities, and my god the writing is so dumb. Gameplay is something I could only fully judge after playing, but I know good and bad writing when I see it.

Hi, this is coming for 3 years after this video has been created, and i freaking love Destiny 2, at this point, all their promises hav been fulfilled and they're still going. It's not about money it's honestly a fun grind and great community now.

Destiny 2 is the most unwelcoming game to beginners, granting no storyline whatsoever (none good like Destiny 1) and lack of un-repititve content. The content droughts of D1 were great because we had great content occupying us for the VAST majority of the droughts.
When they dumped Activision, It got better, it’s currently quite enjoyable.
Still a grind fest that’s mostly unfulfilling, to this day. Played the main game, the first expansions, Forsaken, and the first three seasons of content after that. Still more of the same. Way way way too much grinding for cool gear and they’re not even that crazy. Tons of content gated off from solo players, for a game that has cost me over a hundred dollars I expect way way way more. I like to play games, not just Destiny 2. So the massive amounts of grinding and forced lfg multiplayer is annoying as all hell.

The game isnt even that grindy if you play with other people, and season of opulence was great and you cant argue against that. Forsaken and season of opulence alone make the game worth playing because of how good those seasons were
