i think princess or Holland America must be a good choise for Alaska, i hope i will arrive there soon. The cruise was expensive, if I may ask? I also travel alone and always try to find the best deals.
@@patricec.2957 yeah cruising to Alaska costs a premium with most lines due to supply and demand. Holland and Princess are staples of the Alaska route and I’m told no more me does it better than them on that itinerary.
@@SoloCruiseTravel I've just checked on the Princess Europe website and the prices aren't that expensive for singles, between 780 euros for a week and 1600 euros for 2 weeks in an inside cabin. It's true that as soon as I look at the balcony cabins, the prices explode.
I currently have 10 solo cruises booked, all on Princess. Going to Alaska in May on the Grand Princess for two weeks leaving from Vancouver. Balcony cabin. This is a true bucket list cruise for me.

My husband and I have a cruise planned for end of May on no Bliss. We in been to AK before.and went to few different ports .So we are excited to see somethings this time. Thank you for explaining everything. That last stop you made,we going back to Victoria, BC
This is a great video and scenes from your trip to Alaska was fantastic. The weather was nice and sunny and looks like the place I wanna go to on a Cruise ship.
Years ago embarked out of S.F. on Dawn Princess, to Mexico. It was fleet week, boats everywhere, ariel competitions, ending with Blue Angels directly overhead. Front row seats from bar at top of ship. S.F. did us well that day
thank you soooo much for your video...I'm going solo (which is what I do mostly) to Alaska in September 2024 on Royal Caribbean - I would have preferred Princess, but booked a kinda package which gave me 3 nights in the rockies, but with way too much bus travel, which Im not looking forward to. We embark in Vancouver, but seeing your trip ex San Francisco, I wish I had seen it earlier!! Thank you for showing the towns you visited, most of which are on my cruise. I decided not to book 'tours" as they were extortinate $500 to $1000 AUSSIE....I decided just to enjoy the towns, which you have showed me is a great experience.... Way to go Mate, solo travel is wonderful!!
If you are traveling from the Rockies to Vancouver, ya, you're in for a long bus ride...but you will also see the amazingly diverse climates of British Columbia. We are blessed in this Province with everything from rainforest to desert! I just hope this year gives us a rest from the relentless fires and you can fully enjoy your travel experience. Do keep that factor in mind, though, make sure you have adequate travel insurance!
We're going to Alaska in July of 2025 on the Ruby Princess as well. We live across the bay from San Francisco. You got lucky on the weather. I understand it can be warm and sunny or cold and rainy. No way of knowing. We will prepare for both.
I will be solo on Caribbean Princess May 2025, sister ship to Ruby. I start in Port Canaveral through Panama Canal and then up west coast. I get to enjoy the Golden Gate bridge also as we visit the port of San Francisco. Nice footage you provided.
Lol, I love that you stopped in Prince Rupert! It's true, the docks there are more geared for industrial use. A lot of times, moving cargo from the ports in Vancouver into Northern BC is impractical and the port at PR is really essential for cargo and trade up there. All the same, it sounds like a great representation of small town life in British Columbia, a local museum, craft vendors, and Timmy Ho's! Classic! I have been considering an Alaskan cruise, but being born and raised in BC and having traveled and lived in both the coastal and interior regions, it sounds like a lot of what I grew up around and I would like to experience something new. Currently looking at doing my first cruise, solo, on a 16 day round trip to Hawaii in 2025 aboard the Coral Princess. Anyone here been on that ship before?
Prince Rupert for the win!! I met someone from Canada on a Norwegian cruise recently and asked them if they even knew that was a place and they had never heard of it before lol. And that sounds like an amazing journey to Hawaii. Never been on Coral Princess before. I would imagine a Hawaii trip would mean lots of sea days (which I enjoy)
@@SoloCruiseTravel I haven’t been to Prince Rupert but most Western Canadians will have heard of it…probably not so much for people East of Alberta, though. I’ve learned that the Coral Princess is one of the oldest ships in their fleet, it even still has a card room! It’s kind of why I wanted to cruise in it. Also, having spent so much time on BC Ferries, especially when I lived in Victoria, I love that the Coral Princess still has an outdoor promenade around the whole ship!
Sailing on the Crown Princess in mid May 2024 out of San Francisco, port stopping in Victoria. Super excited to experience Alaska on a Princess ship. Thank you for the video. I prefer solo travels myself 🙂
If you've never been to Victoria before, you'll love it! I lived there for 5 years, it's a beautiful city and there's lots to do. If there is an excursion to to Butchart Gardens, you should really go, it's a ways from downtown but it's gorgeous! The tulips and daffodils might still be blooming!
We cruised to Alaska out of SF several years ago on Celebrity. We’re sailing Celebrity again on the Edge this June/July leaving from Seattle. Really looking forward to going back.
We did a cruise last June and there was still a great deal of snow on the mountains. The bears were just starting to wake up. The cost is lower in early June. If you can, avoid peak tourist season (July-August) as there are just way too many people at the ports and the ques are so long, you often just walk by.
Great video. Thanks. My first Alaska trip was on the Ruby 3 years ago. I thought it was a great ship. I am sailing out of Seattle to Alaska on the Princess Discovery same time of year as you did, first week of Sept. I have always wrangled friends to go with me but am considering a solo cruise. What have you found to be your experience sailing solo on Princess?
That sounds like fun! There are so many great spots on Princess ships to have "me time" if you want but there are also so many lounges and spaces with plenty of people that if you want to make some new friends it is really easy. I enjoy Princess solo because of the OceanNow ordering option as well. Don't have to worry about losing your lounger on a busy sun day, you can just have things brought to you. The daily solo meet ups on the schedule I have seen be sparsely attended and also two dozen or more people meeting up, depending on ship. It's all in what you want. I do Princess solo for the total relaxation of it all. The ship demographic is usually much older so it gets quiet earlier and I really enjoy the serenity of it all.
It is lovely. I hope I will take Alaska cruise on Princess ship with conservatory next time. I never seen Alaska before. Also I never seen New England/ Canada cruise before. I came to Canada by car and train many times. How many did you take Princess cruise ship? I never go on on Princess ship before. Last time I went on HAL in 2003 from Tampa, FL. Thanks for posting.
It's pretty spectacular as a destination. Something to look at all the time and so majestic. Princess sends several ships that direction every year. They do Alaska well.
