Dinners are served nightly from 5 to 9 PM. We definitely recommend reserving the same table for the cruise by choosing the first or second seating to save time waiting in line or having to call the reservation desk daily.

It's what I expected we'd get on our Princess cruise in December 2023, but we didn't get anything like it. It was not this quality or quantity.
We went on Regal in Feb. We agree with you on the food. Almost everything was excellent. Some were good. One or two things were a definite no. Like the crab cake! Taste ok, texture was a big No! Lol. Thanks! Ya'll helped us prepare and know what to expect.

I just completed my first cruise. 34 days from LA to BA. I ate in main dining every night but two I think.
The food and service were excellent…..the desserts were the best but I have a serious sweet tooth! I probably averaged 2 desserts per dinner!
Suggestions: get a French baker in there for the bread! A bigger helping of veggies with main course. I had to request double veggies each night! I think a bit more local recipes for each country we went to. I didn’t notice much of that on our cruise.
Had a great trip and enjoyed the food/desserts!

If you expect to get this food, unfortunately you'll be sadly disappointed. I did, and I was very disappointed in the food we got on Princess in December 2023. Ours was nothing like this.

Don't believe what you see here. This is what I was expecting and it definitely was not what we got. Portion sizes were about half the size shown here and it looked nothing like what we were served. That piece of steak you saw at the start of the video, and the lobster, was never on the general menu. You had to pay quite a bit extra for that.

We got back from our Holland America Line cruise last month. We were very happy with the quality of the food. The buffet had so many choices for us. Chef Erick even made us a vegan cheesecake and personally brought it to our table in Club Orange! Wow. We were caught by surprise! Lol.

I was on Sapphire Princess in December 2023 and the menu looks pretty much to Princess standards which is high! Sometimes the food is not seasoned enough. Cold soups were usually put in glasses which is easier to eat!

well it wasn't anything like this on the Majestic Princess in December 2023. Portions were half the size, there was no steak or lobster unless you paid extra for it, and the quality was the worst I've had on the 15 cruises we've been on. Not in a hurry to book another Princess cruise, that's for sure.

Yes that's certainly pretty premium, though here we couldn't really discern the difference of the gelato vs ice cream.
We have a cruise booked on Regal princess and also on the Eurodam HAL. Which MDR did you prefer? Love all your videos, super informative!
Thank you very much! 😊 Both of HAL & Princess MDR dinners were very good, so it comes down to personal taste. HAL had better steak entrees overall, though Princess has a lot of seafood, and still has lobster night. Would love to hear what you think after you see the Princess dishes from the other nights.
I was on the first Regal Princess cruise out of Galveston in November. I was also on the Eurodam in early January 2014.
Both had creative menus that were well executed. Princess had a good variety of cold soups, more menu selection, and really excellent service . I did NOT like any of the beef entrees as they were rather tough.
The Eurodam had good food and good service. The wait staff made a couple of small mistakes. However, it was an improvement over our post- COVID cruise in December 2022.
The food was excellent and very creative
To be honest, you cannot go wrong with either line

Back in the day, Princess use to give customers x2 real Dungeness crab cakes. Times have changed, much smaller portion sizes now a days. Food inflations has gone through the roof, hence we have to pay for any upgrade entrees at the MDR.
Especially crab is so expensive now

Super bummed the crab cake was not good! They call it *”Lump,”* which is supposed to imply chunks of nice dungeoness crab meat, but that’s not at all what it was!!! I would have lodged my complaint on that one. Don’t tell me I’m getting a LUMP crab cake, and then serve me something that doesn’t even taste like crab. Don’t do me like that, Princess! 😂
I had the hazelnut passion fruit citrus dessert when I was on the Discovery a while back, and it blew my mind. I couldn’t believe what a great flavor profile it had.
I’m pretty surprised the salmon Joann had in the first part of the video didn’t come with some sort of simple lemon beurre blanc or something like that. Just a nice refreshing sauce would have made sense. Otherwise, salmon on its own is pretty blah.
The Love Boat Dream is something I remember having on my very first Princess cruise, but I do not remember it looking like what Joann had. The Lychee, raspberry & rose dessert looked divine.
Can’t go wrong with tenderloin, but the Bahamian seafood stew looked super nice. I would have to try the Cajun fried chicken. That looked really really nice too!
What I love about Princess is they’re keeping their dinner menu pretty creative and special. Some of those dishes had an array of really nice colors. There is something about fancy-looking food that makes cruising so special. Somebody please tell Royal Caribbean they need to get back to this kind of MDR menu. They’re mainly catering to new cruisers and families with children now, and that is definitely reflected in their new MDR menu. I just love what Princess is doing 👌

Oh, and let’s not forget the pâté dish! That looked really yummy! Although I would have to differ with Joann in that I prefer a nice gamey flavor 😂. Then let’s not neglect that delicious looking snapper dish! The peach flambé I probably would have passed on (too sweet for me) but the bananas foster I would have loved. In fact, I remember having that on my last Princess cruise and I loved it. So much good food here ❤️
Yeah it's a bummer about the crab cake not meeting expectations- it was like they forgot about the crab. The hazelnut passion fruit citrus was quite good, and that salmon would've benefited from some sort of sauce. And yes the tenderloin & the seafood stew were two of the best ones from this video 😋 Agree with you that this menu is superior than Royal's- more choices and quality. Thank you! 😊 We have not, though Princess does have a delivery service that's $15 but allows you to order as many room service as you want during your cruise. Some of those items do cost extra. But for breakfast there are some basic items with free delivery- you just tick off what you want on a menu and hang it outside before going to bed.

I have to say though the "not too sweet" description is so funny to me as an American. For us the whole point of dessert is to be so sweet it knocks you out of your seat haha.

I know right? Yeah we appreciate the sweetness of desserts as well, because that's one of the essences for a satisfying dessert! Sometimes they are TOO sweet, so we thought Princess did a good job at avoiding, though certainly those may not be sweet enough for some folks.
If you want to see even less cheese in a French onion soup, cruise on NCL. My wife ordered it because RC's was so good. NCL's looked so watery with no cheese, but it was actually better than the other soups they served. I think NCL offered creme brulee every three days which was another major disappointment.

Going on my first Princess cruise side by side to a b2b on Royal this spring. Looking forward to the food. Thanks for the great video. Question: Was the food on Princess comparable to Royal Caribbean?
Our pleasure- thanks for the comment Christian! 😊 Good planning there with those cruises! I would say the Princess MDR dinner is better quality-wise. MDR breakfast is a win for Royal, and probably a tie for lunch. For the buffet, it's more subjective, though Princess does have more seafood. International Cafe is better than Cafe Promenade. Pizzas are fairly similar, though Sorrento's on Royal has those nice antipasto. For Mexican food, Royal is better with El Loco Fresh.
Going on my 1st Princess cruise in November on Ruby. Are the menus posted anywhere online to see what each night offers in MDR? TFS is Princess like Royal where you get to try as many items as you like on the menu?
How do you stay so slim with all that food? I always gain at least 5 lbs by the end of cruise.
Helps to take the stairs when possible and getting 10K+ steps daily 😁

We are booked on the Regal for end of June on a 12 night British Isles cruise. It's great to get a first hand look at these dishes and they all look delicious. I won't show my wife though as she has Celiac disease and sadly will not be able to enjoy 90% of the offerings. I am curious about the meal times. It is my understanding that there is no longer an "early" and "late" sitting in the main dining rooms. When booking reservations through the app, there was simply a list of reservation times to choose from. We just booked the same time each night for all 12 nights as we do like having the same table and waiter every night.
Thanks for sharing your dining reservation experience during booking! That's definitely the way to go with the same time nightly. You can let Princess know in advance of your wife's dietary needs- they might have more options available that are not on the regular menus. Have a wonderful British Isles cruise!
I was able to reserve a table every night for 5 for our upcoming cruise on the Crown Princess...(my time dining)
Nice! That's what we did during one of our other Princess cruises as well. This time we were happy to reserve once and it's all set for the rest of the cruise and there was no need to have to reserve again.
Is the buffet open on the day you disembark for breakfast? What time do you have to disembark?
It sure is- though it will close at 9 AM. You can pick the time when you want to disembark, but if you're not in a hurry, the latest is around 9:30 to 9:45 AM usually.

Lobster night did not exist on our Princess cruise of South Australia in December 2023. The servings we got of all dishes were about half the size of those shown in this video. I also had the peach flambe but it didn't look like this. Mine had three pieces of peach, each a quarter of the size shown here, about the size of a small mandarin segment. The three together would have made up one of these peach segments. There were no seared garlic prawns, The crepe suzette were about a quarter of the size shown in this video, they were dry and rubbery and there were no almonds on it. The New York cheese cake definitely had no layer of cream on it either. It looks to me like Princess knew this was being filmed and provided much bigger portions and nicer looking food than everyone on our cruise got.
Sorry to hear that! What ship was this? From my understanding, Princess cruises have lobster nights, but perhaps lobsters were not readily available for the Australia cruise. As far as your suggestion that they knew we were filing- looking around the dining room, the food look the same as the ones were presented.

Yes it's expensive, but there's no shortage, especially when most of it is farmed in Tasmania and that's where we were when the lobster night should have taken place. It's more like they are treating the Australian based cruises with contempt and providing crap for food. Our dining table was surrounded by people who have done many princess cruises and who said this would be their last, due to the significant drop in standard. One couple actually cancelled their next Princess cruise because of it. This was our first with Princess, and will be our last.

Absolutely! That's what we do most nights as some of the dishes are not large-portioned. It's complimentary- just order both at the same time as the waiters like that better so they won't have to go and retrieve the second one later from the kitchen separately.
