I have been on multiple solo cruises both short and long, and even a solo new year’s eve cruise. I did my first few cruises with family and friends before doing a solo cruise, so I knew exactly what the embarkation process would be like and what to expect on a cruise. If I’m going on a new ship then I watch lots of ship our videos to see what they offer. Once on board I have never felt lonely or alone, while I have never attended any single or solo activities I have never had any problems chatting with other passengers, it’s so easy to start up a conversation with other passengers around you, some I chat with for several minutes and then never see them again and other times I have had multiple conversations and drinks with other passengers. Since I live alone and have eaten out at restaurants alone multiple times, I don’t feel self conscious eating alone or going to shows alone, while I enjoy family and friends, the best part of cruising alone is that I have no schedule, no needing to be anywhere or having to stop and get ready for an event. I get up when I want and can either have a busy day of shipboard activities or a relaxing sea day reading, listening to music and enjoying tropical drinks and the weather.
I travel solo and love it. Dining alone can be a plus because waiting for everyone to order and be served can be tedious. Dine when you feel like it. Show reservations are unnecessary because there is also one single seat available and often it's in a preferred location. I would only take excursions through the ship just to be on the safe side. Don't wait for a consensus - just go!
Great video. I have another solo cruise coming up this September. I've been on three so far this year and over 20 cruises in total. I don't make friends easily and somewhat of an introvert/extrovert with a mixture of high sensitivity. So that being said, I enjoy my alone time, but I do get strange looks, especially when eating alone. Life is fleeting and we never know when it will end. Noone will stop me from exploring this beautiful world. Good luck to all the brave hearts..
I've been solo three times; the first two were group cruises for art classes, so I hung out with the other students. I went solo this past Halloween and found a fantastic group on Facebook that provided lots of activities (bar crawl, room crawl, door deco contest, slot pull, duck exchange, costume contest, scavenger hunt, gift exchange) and never lacked for socialization or things to do. This Halloween I'm going "completely" solo, as I won't know anyone ahead of time. Looking forward to it! The only issue I've ever had dining alone is that, even though I specifically ask for a table by myself, the wait staff seem to think I want to be surrounded! It never fails that they seat everyone new coming in right next to me. And then those people seem to think I want to converse with them. It gets so awkward. I wonder if it would be weird to ask the wait staff to "put baby in the corner" and not bring me any pals! 🤣
@@sweetauntbuddy wishing you a great Halloween cruise. And I have asked before to be sat in a more secluded area or I tell them I will be happy to wait for a window table as those typically are the furthest point away from everyone else and gives me something to look at.
Hola, 1st time Slow Traveler to SE ASIA ( Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand)😊1st time Solo cruising (Transatlantic) back to Miami starting October 30th out of Barcelona🥳 18 days including Valencia, Barbados, Grenada and San Juan PR🎉It’s been super fun thus far, started early July……Just Do It, you’ll be glad you did! Thanx bro, great content 😊
Thanks for this SOLO video!! I'm going on my 1st solo; but, it's about my 25th cruise - so I'm really looking forward to it!! I always meet new people on each cruise - making great friends!!
Yup, enjoy solo. Went to a solo meet up on board, was good to then see some faces to catch up with at activities. Depends on where the cruise travels if you do a cruise or seperate excursion. I've done both options. good fun
I am really thinking about doing a solo cruise. Not only would it be my first solo. It would be my first ever cruise. If you have any tips, would greatly appreciate it.
Have cruised solo before. Not that happy about meeting new people. Sometimes you hit it with good people. Mostly sit by myself when I eat. NCL and RCCL are not good cruise lines. Meeting new people could be done while eating or in the casino. Win someone a few hundred dollars in the casino and they will be nice to you.
I love your video and would love to have the opportunity to interview you for my Masters thesis related to the Caribbean cruise industry. Please let me know if you would be interested .
