Passports for travel to incompatible countries is one of the reasons why you can request an additional one, so although you cannot travel there now you might still be able to in future, hope this helps! 🙂

IMPORTANT ADVICE : Benjamin, you should absolutely visit Dunaújváros, south of Budapest. It is a 100% stalinist town created around 1950, like Nowa Huta and Eisenhüttenstadt.
Since he is already in the east he could just go to Tiszaújváros, its similar. Or to Miskolc, it also has a lot of Soviet stuff and its actually a bigger city, so would be better for content.

And that's the only Hungarian world that he can say so that we Hungarians understand it. I was sure he overplayed being ignorant. E.g. Kocs = coach (not kox). It is the name of the Hungarian village where a certain vehicle was developed.
Aww, i love this guy. He just goes to some places where ordinary tourist wouldn't go and with his charisma somehow makes it really interesting. Even if he goes to some random Uzbek distance place, he makes it really fun to watch.
I have learnt so much from Bald and his travels. This was so much fun watching as a Hungarian! I'm always watching your vids exploring these countries around us, hoping you will visit us one day. Finally it happened and I hope you will come back! :)
For some one who travels a lot I'm surprised you were not prepared to go to Ukraine. I worked in the oil sector and used to travel a lot. We used to just remove Indian stamped pages before entering Pakistan. Nobody ever counted the pages. Israeli stamps ment you needed a new passport to go to Tehran. Georgia wasn't nice if you had Russian stamps twelve years ago. Same for coming to Baku if you'd visited Yerevan. Very British (clumsy almost) talking loudly of Soviets in a country that really hated them. Watching you in Ukraine would have been so great. Thanks.
The russhists (russian fascists) return the old monuments of Lenin in occupied UA towns, execute people, deport children and so on, so his glorification or admiration of Soviets for fun in current climate is not acceptable, it was funny and OKish before! Now he should leave that "Soviet theme", it's not funny nowadays at all!
How could Ben prepare for what happened? He had his Visa(s) ready but they had previously been marked down in Russia which the customs officers didn't approve and denied him entry to travel, I do lack the means to know what Ben could of done differently but hopefully you can explain more about it. To the last part of your comment I do agree with you, talking openly and care-free about Soviets made me wince at the thought of someone overhearing Bald and thinking who the f*ck is this guy? Also I was also told to stop taking pictures in Odesa. All of which is understandable, but it's hard to imagine Bald being allowed to walk around Chernobyl with camera without attracting attention, and then when police would come and see his stamp that would cause similar (if not bigger) commotion that the one at the border.

In fact, considering some of the countries you visit and the random beefs they have with other countries, I'm surprised this hasn't been an issue before.

3:20 Hi Bald just a bit of explanation > It came from the French term coche and also from the Hungarian word kocsi, which meant “carriage”. Carriages were named that way because superior carts and wagons were designed in the small town of Kocs in Hungary. The meaning we use today originated at Oxford University in 1830.>
Hungaria is an awesome country with great people ❤️🇭🇺. Thank you Benjamin for the amazing vlogs and much appreciation for all you do. Just wish sometimes this channel lived up to it’s name lol
I've done this journey to the border and back so many times. It's strange to see it in a VLOG. The familiar faces looking for passengers from Nyíregyháza to the border. The people traveling with bags of goods to sell back home. Makes me really miss the region and my home town. I really wish this bloody war can end soon so we can return, even if for a nostalgic visit.
I don't see it ending any time soon (literally decades away). I can 3 possible scenarios to end the war: 1) Ukraine lose and becomes part of Russia 2) Putin gives up due to lack of resources or some other similar reason 3) Putin gets deposed by an internal coup. None are likely. Ukraine are being supported by western countries ad infinitim in terms of weapons, money and arms training. Putin would happily bankrupt Russia to achieve his military goals. Putin's connections are too close to be able to depose him. His closest circle are protectorates and loyal (AFAIK). The only way to end it is to have Putin out of power and the only way to do that is for him to die. If his successor has similar ambitions and political views, then it will continue on to the end of *his* lifetime too.
Watt and Stephenson are up there because they invented the (first industrially viable) steam engine and the locomotive respectively, not because they built any railroads.

I love how you can almost feel the atmosphere of the places Ben goes to. One thing we are missing is the smells, it's the aromas of places that makes them unique. Coming from England these places are different I'm sure but because England isn't that far away it's not that amazing. Watching from here in New Zealand however, everything seems incredibly exotic and almost as if it's on a different planet. Everything is just so normal down here which can be boring but I wouldn't change it for the world.
truth is you are a different Planet ...there in down under ...how do you even claim that you live on earth ....!😅! If Bald were to go and see New Z that would be Epic ...with sheep and Kiwis & some Maori thrown in for drama !
I think you're overstating the relevance of smell and understating how important the visual is a bit. That's why you can feel a lot of the atmosphere, because you're seeing and hearing it, that's what videos do and is why we love them. Smell can be really important but sometimes it's not. Car exhaust smells the same everywhere, the whole of Italy doesn't smell like olive oil lol.

Makes me really miss the region and my home town. I really wish this bloody war can end soon so we can return, even if for a nostalgic visit.

I don't see it ending any time soon (literally decades away). I can 3 possible scenarios to end the war:
1) Ukraine lose and becomes part of Russia
2) Putin gives up due to lack of resources or some other similar reason
3) Putin gets deposed by an internal coup.
I used to drink in the James Watt pub in Greenock, Scotland. It was cheap and they did a decent fish and chips.

@@dominic.h.3363 Ahh not what you said, dude. Read what you wrote.
@@davidlynch9049 I know exactly what I have written, and I've only edited the comment to add "(first industrially viable)" to stop nitpickers from reminding me about useless ancient Greek gimmicks that used steam to rotate an ornament.
My command of the English language is beyond reproach. Your understanding of it is however up to debate...
My wife is currently in Dnipro and she told me even if you were to arrive in Ukraine it may not be possible to film very much as they are suspicious of anyone even with a phone taking photos. Recently there has been a crackdown on people passing along info to Russia.
@@ArtificialFertilizer Ben may accidentally film a military vehicle and its just too risky at this time. I wish this dreadful war will end soon.
My sister just visited HUNGARY and she loved it..
Hey I’m from New Zealand , in Ukraine right now , biggest difference is the driving regulation hahaha , some speedsters over here
Bro you're from NZ? How can you say anywhere else is exotic? 😅😅your country looks like a fantasy land
Have you ever considered getting a second passport? For this kind of visa issues normally you are able to get a second passport.
He said in an older episode his grandad was Polish. Should be able to get a Polish one too.
@@9wowable Hi there; good advice, and I would have said something similar, but the problem also these days is that he may now be on a database as having been refused entry. That said, a second passport is a good idea for someone like Bald who has been to so many countries.
@@9wowable can I get one if my grandads half polish
@@9wowable that's right! Grandad Moshe in the episode Only In Russia. I'm not 100% certain but I think Bald's mum or dad would have to get the Polish passport first and then, he can get one via them. The Polish passport cant go from his grandad to him.
@@9wowable What he means is, that many countries issue multiple passport for frequent-travellers, journalist, etc. -without a second citizenship
Dear Benjamin,
I think Johnny Depp must have been very happy to see you toast the beer.😉😁
Have a nice journey.🚝
I was just in Budapest for the first time and as a long-time viewer, it is so fascinating to see you standing where I was only a week ago.
