"High Hopes" is a song , composed by guitarist David Gilmour with lyrics by Gilmour and Polly Samson. It was released as the second single from their eleventh studio album, The Division Bell (1994), on 17 October 1994.
The lyrics refer to the band's early days in Cambridge, specifically before they started making music and it also references ex-bandmate Syd Barrett. Its lyrics speak of the things one may have gained and lost in life, written from Gilmour's autobiographic perspective. Gilmour has said that the song is more about his early days, and leaving his hometown behind, than about the seeds of division supposedly planted in Pink Floyd's early days

here i am 60 years old in tears listening to this song missing the days when i was 20ish and realizing my days are numbered.i love this song it brings so much to my soul.and i sincerley hope i leave this earth before mr david gilmour he touches my soul and nevr will i hear music like this ever again.

Dito to that - little younger but not by much. I was about 20 when the Division Bell album was released. Saw that tour and Pulse several times plus Gilmour solo w/ whoever was his band several times. Just missed him recently and kicking myself for it. Not that many years left to enjoy him LIVE

THE SOUNDTRACK OF MY LIFE.
I've played guitar for 38 years, I think I've become pretty damn good.. but this solo is the best and most emotional I have ever, ever heard. Even more than Brothers in Arms, (dire straits) my all time favourite song. Only a slide guitar can make this solo. You can't play this on a normal guitar with your fingers. It's absolutely phenomenal !!!!

Начало 90-х, именно эту версию выдали по телевизору, был полный восторг, и до сих пор в нём пребываю. Мне 50. Считаю лучшей версией исполнения, именно с подпевкой трёх девок. Пинк Флойд услышал в далёком детстве, и на всю жизнь. Вечная музыка.
