Hey, Burger Dude, I never saw anyone cook the TVP crumbles my way, try this out . Instead of hydrating it first, try to fry them in oil a little , and then add a little of the soy sauce, then add a liquid. It makes the TVP more chewy, closer to beef as I remember. Try to compare usual method with this, who knows, maybe you will like it. Anyways, like your videos, c ya ! ❤😊
That sounds like a good way to cook it for converting non vegans or ppl who are still transitioning, not yet used to plant based flavors/ textures.
Interesting idea! I’ve always found the texture of tvp to be disappointingly soggy. I’ll try this!
This was a great tip! I just tried it out and it definitely improved the texture. Thank you!
@@starlitsunrise17 Glad I helped
I used to rehydrate my tvp then squeeze out as much liquid as I could using a cotton cloth before cooking. This also prevents it getting mushy.
The I saw, I think it was Chef Jana, cooking her TVP straight from dried like you described and that is how I've done it since.
The other thing I do is sieve out the TVP powder before using it. This also reduces mushiness.
I don’t have 80% of the ingredients that are usually mentioned here but after I get them I can’t wait to make these!
It's not easy to get into, but homemade tempeh tastes out of this world. It also has no bitterness
This is so great! I have a family history of Cancer and have learned recently that means I need to avoid the pesticides, IGF-1 and BLV meat and beef in particular--Thank you
Thank you! Definitely needed some less expensive options.❤❤
the tofu option mentioned is also inexpensive (assuming tofu is also not expensive, too!) Happy cooking
I am currently vegetarian in India so I may not have access to these recipes just yet But I wanna ry every method!
They all look so delicious
Thanks for the heart thee burger dude!
Thanks so much for sharing! They all look so yummy
I needed this, thank you!
Thanks so much for sharing these recipe ideas and the tips! Happy new year to you and yours!!!
Great video for a useful ingredient
Thank you. Happy New Year🎉🙂🙋🏽♀️
Great recipe ideas , thank you ! Your tofu ground beef is one of my favourites
I love that you can meal prep these kinds of things like even if your not vegan it’s just so convenient
You're back!? Heck yeah!!
Thanks for all that you do! 🎉🎉🎉
Super duper quick and easy! Thank you!
I include Marmite in mine versus soy sauce for a broader flavor. Also easy to add sage to take on a more sausage-y flavor for a pizza topping.
Wutsitsyear sauce, my favourite 😋
Thanks for the recipe!
It’s amazing how many people don’t know about these options
Gotta start somewhere!
Tofu is so terrible
@@FloydWhoElseTV if you can’t cook just say that 😂
@@damikey85 actually I can. And tofu absorbs whatever you put in it. So I didn't know cooking tofu was some Michelin Star type of cooking. Thanks for the insight. Wow I just learned something new that I feel made me 3 percent stupider
@@damikey85 oooo and by the way I'm vegan too. 🤦♂️🤣🤣🤣
New to being a vegan and was searching yesterday on how to make vegan Korean “beef” bowl and then this videos pops up today!!
🙌🙌🙌
Are you completely transitioned? I'm just curious. I'm more like a wannabe vegan at the moment.
just watch some good ol slaughterhouse footage, cook a delicious vegan meal afterwards and complete your transition :)@@AndwiseTheHappy

If only it were that easy...
what's the hardest part for you?@@AndwiseTheHappy
Thanks for your many, many,....maaany recipes and ideas. For Color (and even taste) a tablespoon (or to taste) of cocoa powder works well. Also if you have a bit of cold coffee left over from the morning or so...
I make a lot of cold brew and have added a shot or two to my meals. I agree that is a good addition!
Yes! I add cocoa powder and coffee to my vegan chili! And cinnamon! 😛😋
I rice cauliflower and onion and use that as ground beef for tacos.
this is great. you have a really nice voice that inspires cooking confidence. imma make the tempeh one in tacos cause its been weeks since ive eaten anything fermented lol. My old job served black bean tempeh it was sooo good
That's interesting, where did you work that served tempeh in general?
I really like that you included tempeh. I believe this is your first video using it. When you're using tvp is there usually a ratio for the tvp to water? I buy it at a coop sometimes, but its in bulk. Thank you again for another great video, and happy new year!
Awesome dude! Ive been enjoying mushrooms over mock meat these days
Love it ❤
Great recipes. Thanks. And if I cook bulk, I can put some serving size into freezer bags or containers and freeze for later, yeah?
Yep!
Awesome!
Late to the party here. All three of these look GREAT! Another favourite of mine is the cauliflower and walnut mince, especially with tomato sauce.
I'm curious if you've ever considered making a meatless ground turkey style protein. I never ate much beef and find it hard to replicate the flavor memory.
One thing that is important to mention is that TVP is the best source of protein.
You Rock!!👍
i wish textured soy- or pea protein was cheaper where i live. looks great! will definitely take inspiration from your seasonings
How do you make your patties. They look so good.
yummy
youre awesome!!
Mushroom "oyster" sauce would probably be good in the marinade too.
So vegan oyster sauce for PB Asian style cooking? Never heard of it, glad I found your comment. 👍
hell yea
i love you burger barry
I think the easiest way to have vegan beef is to pick fights in vegan subreddits
Probably more protein too
except the cruelty-free part! Anything labeled as vegan immediately gets that attention from outside, though... -_-
WinCo sells bulk tvp that's cheaper than bagged
Can you do a ground pork
I feel like the lentil/mushroom combo might be good for vegan newbies. I tried some fake meat that, for my current taste buds, was almost inedible due to flavor.
Just wondering, does it have a strong mushroom flavor? I'm not a fan, lol.
"WHATS-THIS-HERE-SAUCE" 😂😂
TVP FTW
Question: does it work without nooch and vegan worcestershire sauce because it's kinda expensive where I'm at. Miso I can get, those two is kinda hard. Then again I don't cook tempeh with those (I just marinate in spice blend and deep fry them)
Yes it should work out still. Just work with what you got and season it to your liking!
Did you make a piece of AI art of yourself enjoying a taco outside of a taco truck? 😂
LOL yes!
Didn't you have a meatball video from TVP? Or would the TVP method here work for meatballs?
I did meatballs with lentils but I should do a TVP one. Basically this with added binders would work.
Guess who's back, back again? Cruelty free. Tell a friend.
Great options! I never liked red meat, so these are far superior for me! Now if someone could just come up with some affordable and convincing vegan seafood options, I would be ecstatic!

Dude!
Nice! Be careful. Some famous FoodTuber may copy your vegan ground beef thumbnail for his non-vegan beef video!
Lol, sounds like a great compliment on the realistic looking meaty thumbnail. 😂
PLEASE OPEN A RESTAURANT I’m way to lazy to cook this stuff myself but I would go to your restaurant in a second
👍
I wonder if there is a way to do this oil free
I like to add TVP to my vegan chili, no need to rehydrate beforehand. I’m still afraid of tempeh because it looks scary.
Unrelated question: I was just watching one of your shorts and now I'm watching this video. Why are the links on the short unclickable, but on the video they are? I can't even "copy and paste" the links in your short. 🤔
UA-cam decided to restrict links.
Why you degidrate tvp in a water before instead of do same in sauce?
