There’s this vegetarian girl I’m into and I have no idea how to make good vegetarian/vegan food so you have been my savior. I’m going to impress this girl if it kills me (but I’ll probably just live longer 🤷🏻♂️)
Enjoy your journey into eating well! I hope your relationship is happy, but even if things burn out, the sheer bliss of plant-based eating awaits you! Life can be so good.
As a viet person and a vegan, this is one of the few bahn mi repcipes that honor and implement a thorough and as close to authentic take which I have yet to experience from any restaurant/establishment that I have been trying to get a bahn mi from!
@@alexehlke707 the ketchup is optional. You can just skip it. But it doesn't taste like ketchup anyways, because you're combining it with other stuff.
I'm trying to get my husband to eat less meat for his health and he loves your recipes! We just made the Subway meatball sub and he ate more of the meatballs than the vegans in the house. He even ate some of the leftover meatballs with teriyaki sauce and rice the next day and already asked me to make them again. And he's a tough nut to crack with the meat-free recipes. I know he's going to love this one. Thank you!!!
Bahn Mis are sooo good. My fave 💜 they taste especially awesome in the morning with Coffee. As a vegan, viatamese food is a blessing. Tasty and healthy 💙😋
Ok first of all that marinade is so good, I can drink it with a straw! I haven’t finished assembling but I ran to make this literally 2 minutes after you posted this video, I moved away from my favorite bahn mi store and they all have been very underwhelming. It would be cool to have a follow up of another type of bahn mi, like a buffalo unchicken with soy curls (my favorite), a tempeh one, maybe a crabless cakes or another one of your genious ideas :) I love your recipes!
Yummy yummy that goes into the tummy 🤤. I used to hate tofu but after watching your recipes i just realised I was seasoning it wrong, now i absolutely love tofu!
I gotta say Mr. Burger - I always really appreciate how much reverence you have for the origins of the dishes you create!! It’s so clear you respect the “art” and love learning about everything you make!!
Yo bruh. I cracked the tofu code recently and a huge thing was different tofu cuts in the same dish. Yup. Yup. You know what’s up. If you’re watching this video make this shiiiitttttt
I actually would say a tofu banh mi is my favorite sandwich, the perfect one is a symphony of flavor and textures not often found in a vegetarian/vegan sandwich.
I went to Vietnam last month and the food there was incredible. Your recipe looks just as good (if not better) than any banh mi I had there! I am definitely going to be making your recipe this weekend!
I like mixing mayo with Maggi sauce and also put some extra Housin Sauce on the sandwich. That's how the Vietnamese restaurants here like to do it too!
Thank you so much for making this. We have a Banh Mi Spot in our area. I love it. It can get quite expensive though, lol. So making it myself once a while will be awesome.
Just made this over 2 days. I would recommend doing this out of order from the video - do the pickling AND the marinating of the tofu the night before. Overall I am not sure I would do it again because of the multi day prep, but it did turn out really good!
There's a vegan Vietnamese place in San Diego that has a full vegetarian/vegan menu. It's so good. Glad I found this recipe. Hopefully it's as good as that place.
French roll: have you tried putting it under running water, just enough for it to get wet all over (very quickly) and then airfrying them for a few minutes? 3 minutes tops. You can put it in the oven too, but it takes a little longer. Thanks for ALL your recipes and all the knowledge you share! Take care!
Hi, I had a question about the mushroom pate process- what makes it preferable to start from an unheated pan when cooking them down? Thank you for the video as always!
i think the original video also mentioned using char siu easy to mimic with a mix of shredded seitan and shredded king oyster mushroom in a char siu style sauce with molasses and red fermented bean curd
Ohhh been craving this sandwich for a while but didn't know what marinade to do for the tofu so thank you - but I can't eat mushrooms is the pate a mega part to the flavour or can I use maybe just a veg pate or just leave it out?
Love how you pronounce ethnic words properly and even "Nguyen" correctly! Just wanted to note, "seitan" is actually Japanese, so it's pronounced "say-tahn"
such a good video! you are awesomeeeeeeeee but not my fav ingredients for a sandwich :D ahah def wouldddd eat it but it wouldnt go even in the top20 of sandwiches ahah
lol here I am listening to the video with another video in the background and I’m ND. I can totally see how it could be distracting though, we’re all different :)
are you ever gonna return to normal videos like this or are you just gonna keep making youtube shorts? I never liked the short format but maybe it's giving you more success than these, idk.
Hi, thanks! I’m taking a break from long form. I was getting burnt out and at this time enjoy making shorts more as I can work on more recipes. But I might do some longer videos for the holiday season 👍🏼

I hate ketchup, is there a substitute for this?
@@alexehlke707 just put half amount of sriracha

My Vietnamese better half asked me to give you a thumbs up. She said this looks authentic as Phúc (it means "happy" in her mother tongue).
I appreciate that!!
My 5-year-old loves watching your videos too. I'm sitting here wishing that you made your own vegan fast food restaurant with all of the things. ❤

That's amazing to hear! I freaking love that haha!!
There is a sh*t tone of sugar in there though.
How is eating less meat good for him? Or is it a processed meat?
Beware salt and excess fat in fake-meats.
I freaking love a bahn mi.
Same 😋
This guy seems like he is good at arguing not because he is good at yelling just cuz its impossible to argue with him cuz hes so chill
Thee Burger Dude, This video is fantastic! I liked it a lot!
