I like to get the best sound I can on Custom 1 then start all over and get the best sound I can on Custom 2. Next I compare the two. You will be surprised at how different the two setups will sound. Once I decide which Custom I like less, I retune it, then keep comparing both custom setups and repeat the process until both settings sound the same (and hopefully the best possible). You will be surprised how easy it is to hear coloration you don't like when comparing two settings. I also like to use a recording with an acoustical guitar or piano passages to listen for clarity and of course vocals for accuracy and realism. Hope this helps.

I love your videos. IM having a lot of trouble with my audio system with the EQ. IN your video you said that the lower frequencies on the eq are for the sub and speakers and that is what I have been used to in all the other brand radios ive had except pioneer. My eq only chances the sound of the speakers but not on my subwoofer at all. The only way i can change the sound on my sub to make it louder or softer is in the speaker level which right now i have it on 5. I have the AVH 2550 nex and its greak but the bass settings seem so low on it. Ive had kenwood and alpine and the setting on the eq are what you are talking about on the radio which the lower frequencies inhance the sub and speakers. I do have external amps and when i had my old kenwood the bass was amazing and i never had the level passed 0 for bass. this pionner radio i need it on 5 so that It can sound almost but not exact to the kenwood. I need help

Hello...I'm have the 4200NEX and installing Polk DB6501 components. I'm not using a separate amp, but connecting directly to the head unit. My question is about the Speaker Level settings. I see how you can lower the speaker levels, but if adjust the front speakers, will that apply to the woofer and the tweeter together? I've been reading how the tweeters can be harsh and too high so I was going to set the crossover (not one on head unit) to either 0 or -3db. However, if it's still too harsh, could I make the extra adjustments, in the head unit, by adjusting the Speaker Level...or, can this be adjusted through another setting? Hopes this makes sense...still learning all of this. thank you.
John Brown put the amp on full pass. Or use them to set a minimum crossover over point. That way is something happen to your radio the speakers won't be play full range.
Question i currently have this head unit in my Accord and whenever I turn on time alignment or mess with the fader I get static coming through the speakers. Currently my speakers are stock but I am debating if changing them to aftermarket will solve the issue? Any help would be appreciated

I went back to them and they are not as patient with me as I'd like. My issue is that rap and hip hop songs sound good but when a rock song comes on, everything goes "flat". This wasn't an issue with my stock unit. Any suggestions or ideas why this happens?
when you do the time alignment, do you have to calculate the values for every seat in the car in order for it to sound good when you have more than just the driver in the car? for example, if i just calculated and entered the values for JUST the driver side of the car (front left) and did not do the passenger or the rears, does that mean the sound quality will sound great to me (the driver) but whenever a passenger sits in the car in the front or back seats, it wont sound as good as it would for me?
Kind of. The overall sound will be fine for them. They will just not have the vocals coming from in front of the like you will. To them it will sound just like any other stereo.

+David Hendrickson it will not ruin your speakers. It will work just fine. I would recommend not setting the to the same frequency. Maybe set the amp to 80hz as fall safe and the radio at 100-120 for the highs. Do something similar for the subs.
I have a Dodge with infinity 7 speaker system. I have 3 tweeters in front dash 6.5 subs in front door 6.5 4way in back door and 2 10's. How can I wire this with only 2 amps one for each set of subs but use the built in crossover on the avh x2800?
+Matt Clarke you will bass blocker caps for the dash speakers. Run the radio on standard mode ( front/rear). Use the radios crossover to keep low bass out of the door speakers.
So run the amp for the 6.5 subs off front speaker leads and in full mode? Or if I use the rca's for front does it render the wire leads inactive in standard mode.

But if I get you correctly the 6x9 would be adjusted by the subwoofer settings. Correct? If so that's awesome as I am not replacing the stock amp or speakers at this time. +David Morrison thanks. You are going to want to leave the xover off. When you replace the radio in a car with a premium sound system, like Bose, the factory amp is already doing that. You do not get to use xovers and time correction in these application. You are just swapping one source for another. The aftermarket radio has to interact with the factory amp the same way the factory radio did. Your factory radio only had front, rear, left, right so you new radio can only use those same channels. So basically no sub control because the factory amp creates its own output using the front and rear inputs. If you turn on the high pass xover you lose the woofer.
+Five Star Car Stereo oh wee I guess I have to trust that the folks at bose know how to set the xovers. Don't get me wrong it sounds good now. I don't notice any distortion. At least I will have an eq to tinker with. I will look at the positives in that they are saving me some work in the setup.

Is the volume on the display changing? What do you have for speakers? Does the volume on everything go up and down? Steering wheel controls? Is the radio properly grounded, that car needs a ground wire add to the radio.
You have the radio in network mode or the rear speakers are off in the sound settings. If in network mode go to restore settings in menu start over. Pick standard mode

We use the stock antenna when ever we can. IDATALINK make the Sat1 adapter for doing this.

Music is not flat though and that is what we are listening too. Boost with in reason is ok.

The rear deck 6x9 are the factory woofers and the rear door 5 1/4 are the actual rear speakers. What are you planning on doing to the stereo?

I have all Jl audio Tr speakers
everytime I try adjusting anything on the EQ the volume goes lower...now as soon as I turn it on the volume goes all the way up by itself
Was there a factory amp not bypassed? Do the screen show the volume going up?
