    I have and use network mode on my 1999 pioneer premier DEX-P1R... works awesome. I even did the same style system (without the time alignment) back in 1992 with my pioneer premier kex-m900 and Sony xec 1000 using 4 ppi amps and all kicker components.

    As usual, great video guys. I want to bi-amp my components and this video has pretty much made up my mind. My system sounds very good(to me) now but I'm thinking there's still room for improvement with a completely active network. Anyway, thanks for your time and keep up the great work.

    Let's see if I can help people understand this. I have 4 tweeters, 4 midrange 6.5's and 2 subwoofer 12s
    On the back of your radio you have
    Front= highs
    Rear= mids
    Sub= subwoofer
    On a 4 channel amp you have a side B and a side A
    Run rca plugs from the front output Jack's on radio to side A on the amp. This is what you wire your tweeters to. Wire your front and rear driver side tweeters in parallel to 1 channel on side A on amp. Wire the passenger side front and rear tweeters in parallel to the 2nd channel on side A. Now all your tweeters are wired to the highs output in network mode.
    Run rca plugs from the rear output on radio to side B on amp. Wire the front and rear driver side midrange speakers in parallel to 1 channel on side B to amp. Wire the passenger side front and rear midrange speakers in parallel to the 2nd channel on side B. Now all midrange speakers are wired to the midrange output in network mode. Now just run your rca outputs from the subs output to your sub amp.
    Now you can control and adjust your highs, mids and sub completely separate from each other.

    Is the pre out voltage constant 4V regardless of the volume setting on all pre outs? Are the Subwoofer Level pre outs a constant 4V as well? Or does the voltage drop when set to -24/0/10? On page 44 of the manual it doesn’t get specific just says to select the setting no mention of voltage. Thanks, Happy New Year

      The are right. Front RCA and white/grays are tweeters, Rear RCA and green/purple are midrange. The power is the same and the Bluetooth phone calls come though the rear outputs. The sub is normal

    Hi. I have a E90 3 series with aftermarket speakers. So currently, I have a component set at the front with passive crossovers for the doors and tweeters. There are a pair of midbass drivers under the front seats. I’ve removed the rear speakers and have a sub in the trunk. The headunit is a pioneer sphda120. The speakers are connected to a 4 channel amp and the sub is connected to mono amp. At present the unit is in standard mode. I wanted to ask if I could change to network mode with the existing speakers so that the fronts are high passed at roughly 1.5khz the tweeters would be taken care of by the passive crossovers. The midbass under the seats would be bandpassed between 80hz to 1.5khz and the subs low passed at 80, all at a 12db slope. Is that possible? Thanks.

      You will want to go standard. To do network mode you would have to run all the tweeters off channels 1-2 and all the mids off 3-4. Since the speakers are in the front and rear you will not be able to use the time corrections.

    I have front and rear 2-way components, and I'm wondering if I'll get better sound quality running network mode with the 4 tweeters on channel 1-2, the 4 mids on channel 3-4. and a sub. Or if I'd get better sound in standard mode using the passive crossovers.
    I also considered network mode using my external amps for the front tweeter & mid, and the head unit internal amps for the rear tweeter & mid.
    I understand I won't have any separation between for front and rear, but would it sound better?

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc

      James Carrillo yes there is a limit of 2 speakers per channel. So you would need an amp. You will not be able to use the time correction.

    I just bought the 80prs and like many others, am new to this "network mode" thing. I have a 2 channel amp powering coaxial speakers up front and a mono amp powering a single subwoofer. Which mode should I run? Also, when I upgrade to component speakers up front should I switch over to network mode or stay in standard? Thanks in advance.

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  8 років тому

      For now you would do standard mode. If when you get your new speakers you up grade to a 4 channel amp to power them switch to network mode. You can run the tweeters on channels 1-2 and the midrange on channels 3-4. You can use the radios active crossover in the network mode and not use the passive ones they come with.

    • @bholtmeier
      @bholtmeier 8 років тому

      +Five Star Car Stereo I get it. So I would have to run separate speaker wires for the mid and the tweeters back to the amp, correct?

    Hi there, I've been watching your videos and researching but can't figure this out. I'm building a setup in my 2 seater which means I have a set of components and a sub (3 way) now I'm looking at getting this unit DEH-X8800BHS which has network mode. My question is how will I be wiring this to the amp? Using the GM-D8604 I will use 2 channels bridged to give my sub 300 rms which leaves me with 2 channels pushing 100 rms each 4ohm. The components I use are the TS-D1730C which require 60 rms. I'll be turning the gain down as I'm pushing almost double what the speakers need. Now in network mode you say that one channel is tweeters and one channel is speakers, at 100rms per channel is sounds like overkill for tweeters?

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  7 років тому

      Nik Ponomarov you will need a 5 channel amp to do Network mode. You need a channel for tweeters ( front outputs) mid range ( rear outputs) and sub woofer

    First off of like to thank you. Your videos are very informative. I have a question concerning my pioneer AVH 3800bhs. I was reading the instructions (crazy, right?!) and I noticed it said if you use the RCA's for amplifiers the regular wiring to the speakers turns off. Is this true? For example. I have (4) 6.5's I'd like to run with one if my amps. I also have (4) 3.5's that due to their lower power requirements I wanted to run off the 3800. But from what I'm understanding I can't do that? I have to run all 8 of the mids and highs off my amp? Thank you!

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  8 років тому +1

      What page is that on? No we do what you are asking all the time.

    • @readingthebible5413
      @readingthebible5413 8 років тому

      Page 55 in the manual that came with my 3800. It's the section called "Connection". It's the third thing mentioned. Right under "Without internal amp". It says "important" "Tye speaker leads are not used when this connection is in use". So I took that to mean either they become inoperable by way of the HU sensing the RCA's are being used or that you shouldn't do it. But I obviously am misinterpreting it wrong if you guys do it with success. Thanks a lot for the quick response!!

    Actually you could (if you have a component set) do network mode with 4 CH. All you need is a RCA splitter. at 18:12 I think you are talking about sound stage.

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  8 років тому

      You mean doing front and rear network mode, yes. You would just get no time correction, you could do level control at the amp.

    • @JoshuasRecordings
      @JoshuasRecordings 8 років тому

      +Five Star Car Stereo Right, in my SQ build I might not even put in rear speakers though. I am going to run it active through the Alpine PDX-V9. With a Pioneer AVH-4000NEX in Network Mode. I don't really want to buy another amp for rear speakers. I might get them (some cheaper ones, I am going to get the Polk Audio MM6015) for when I would have passengers. You would still get time correct on the front speakers though. Just it would be the same correction that is on the rear speakers. Yes, the initial level would be set from the amp. Though I would still use the headunit for tweaking and crossover.

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  8 років тому

      +Joshua's Recordings the 4000 does not have network mode, none of the NEX radios do. It is only available on the 5800/5700 and below. The pdx v9 has it but no time correction.

    • @JoshuasRecordings

I am looking at getting the vocals out from the dayton all the way up..

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  8 років тому

      In network mode the prs80 on the tweeter channel will only play down to 1.25khz. That may be kind of high for a mid. In standard mode it will play lower, 200hz but that to low. The 1.25 area is probably going to be your best bet. I like to use the numbers as a starting point but let my ears do the rest. A little goes a long way in sound. Play one set of speakers at a time to check for distortion. When you think you have the right settings play them together and make final adjustments. Leave the sub turned off until last.

    I tried my avh 2700bs in both standard and network mode. it seems to sound better in network mode, but i want my passengers to hear the music in the rear. when in network mode, I'm assuming it just pretty much shuts off the rear speakers, and let's me have full control of the front mids and tweeters. can I control the crossover points of the front AND rear tweeters and mids from the deck like it allows in network mode, but still use the rear speakers like in standard mode? Does network mode inherently sound better because of more crossover control? can i make standard mode sound as good as network mode? is it just in my head that it sounds better?

      It maybe in your head, some people feel like they have to use Network mode. Like if they don't use this feature they are missing out on something.
      Unfortunately there is no rear output at all in this mode. You can however connect the rear speakers and front speakers together. Connect front and rear tweeter together and do the same for the midrange. You will get the crossover just you can't use time correction.

Or does the music have to play from my phone (iphone) to be able to answer phone calls over bluetooth etc?

      Shaun Geyen sadly no, non of them have it. Kenwood didn't even put it in there higher ended radios. As for 2017 the new AVH models will be out the end of November. The AVIC February or March

      Yes, EQ settings should always be flat when setting gains.

    What if I want to run active 3 way components?
    Tweeter
    3" mid

    How would I go about connecting in network mode?
    Thanks!

      +Daron Smith you would have to Cap off the tweeter and use the front output for both the tweeter and 3" mid.

      Bluetooth audio will always be a little low in terms of sound and quality compared with others sources (USB, Disc). Did you try to raise the source level from the bluetooth mode itself?

    Why does Pioneer call it network mode instead of Internal 3 ch DSP??? Why confuse the standard terms? You guys should clarify it as such and explain the difference if any, and then proceed. thanks!

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  8 років тому +1

      Sorry, Pioneer has been using that term for a long time. It goes back to the single din PRS radios with the same features. I personally think it is a confusing name too.

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  7 років тому

      Christopher Crawford no, standard mode. Network mode is no good if you have rear speakers.

    • @fieldtrailer
      @fieldtrailer 7 років тому

      Five Star Car Stereo Why not? Front and rears can be tied to midrange (bandpass) out feeding into a 4 channel amp. Tie tweeters into a 2 ch amp fed from high pass, and then sub gets the amp fed from low pass output. On all amps, disable filtering. BAM!

    I have a avh 4800bs once I turn the volume up to a certain point the whole unit cuts itself completely off and powers back on without losing any memory. And I've come to notice that it's cutoff point is different depending on which song is play at the time. Some levels are higher than others. Is there a reason for this?

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  7 років тому +1

      +Rodney Zackery if you are using deck power it may be a low ohm load on the amplifier. Try fading it to the front or rear and see if it still does it. Make sure you are using 4 ohm speakers or the a speaker is not bad

    • @r.zackery2636
      @r.zackery2636 7 років тому

      Thanks for the quick response, I had watched one of your other videos earlier and went and made some adjustments in my settings and learned that some of my settings were set too high and was playing mostly in front. So I even the levels out and now sounds a whole lot better and I can turn volume up without it cutting off. I have brand new Kicker door speakers I previously had installed not more than a week ago so I figured it wasn't those.

    Hi! how does it effect the 4 chennel amp in and output if I split the rear 2 pre out to 4 pre out as far as the voltage, watt or sound quality on avh 4200nex?

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  7 років тому

      Vuthy S it will reduce it by half. You will have to turn up the gain higher on the amp. What are you trying to do?

    • @vuthyoffclpge2142
      @vuthyoffclpge2142 7 років тому

    Does this specific pioneer not have auto eq that uses the mic? If it did, would you just use that to set everything up? I know the NEX pioneers do have it and I feel like I am going to be relying on that feature way too much lol

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  8 років тому

      Yes these radios have the auto EQ feature and it works great. We use it all the time to get us real close. We usually just tweak it a little bit afterwards. Then we save the settings so we do not have to do it again.

    • @blubag
      @blubag 8 років тому

      So, you CAN adjust the auto eq settings once it is calibrated? I thought once you use auto eq setting you couldn't adjust from it.

      The AVH radios are navigation ready. Pioneer makes an Add on navigation for those radios. If you get the AVIC u280, it will give you built in navigation to your radio. Unfortunately none of the flip outs have XM capabilities, you can download the app to your phone and stream it to your radio over Bluetooth.
