I think when it was released there weren't enough/intensive mechanical tests done to check quality of smartphone design endurance. Now I can tell some companies perform fatigue endurance tests to the prototype product before starting mass production.
@@roimores It's really not that hard to have someone put the phone in their back pocket and hang about the office for a few days. No special equipment just a pair of jeans and a break room is all you need to test and make sure accidentally sitting on a phone doesn't kill it right away. I think the main point of the issue is that this isn't an issue caused by intensive wear and tear but an issue caused by regular everyday use.
I still remember when the first Samsung Note came out and Apple made fun of them for being big phones. "Pointlessly huge" "like talking into a piece of bread" And then they go and make bigger phones and their fans eat it up...

Yeah in the beginning ipads had rounded edges, that are miles stronger. Then they went square, which is miles weaker. In the beginning that was _sorta_ ok still, as the frsme material was thicker, and the front glass was much thicker - contributing to rigidness. But as they continued to hunt for lower weight, all these _structural_ materials got thinner - and eventually they crossed the threshold of structural integrity vs the force exposure of "ordinary use". Those square edges look/feel "sharp". But while rounded edges distribute force, so it can take a sh1tload of torque and distribute it as a tiny bit of _elastic_ deformation all around the circumfrance of the bend, - square edge profiles *focus* torque. That means a square edge will bend *a lot* sooner, and when it does, all that force is focused into that small point of yield, and causes _plastic_ deformation. As in, it doesn't spring back into its original shape.
@@pr0xZen Not just the squared edges. The smart connector pins sits right in the middle with the body being so thin there is no structural rigidity to it.

Fun Fact: The beats headphones that apple now sells as proprietary hardware are made with the cheapest most low quality parts that can be sourced, the way they make them feel heavy is by screwing 1 pound pieces of aluminum into the earpieces on their over ear monitors. Dr, Dre even admitted in an interview that he knows beats headphones are cheap shit made with junk components but people still buy them because they aren't smart enough to realize they're paying $150 for headphones that would otherwise be the kind you'd buy for $25 at walmart.
Beats is laughably bad. They have recently started making passable headphones (Studio2 IIRC), but they are still way too much money for the junk build quality and mediocre drivers. V-moda does make very good headphones for the upper mid range, I can personally attest to the audio quality and build quality of the Crossfade 2 Wireless vs equivalent priced competitors for everyday use. If Apple were smart, they would have dealt with V-moda because that would not only have gotten the popular market, they would have the support of some of the audiophile market as well, paying out in the long term. It's a shame that really great audio manufacturers are continually ignored. Audio-Technica, Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser, Audeze, Stax... They all need more love for the great products they make, and instead we have hordes of beats...
@Grand Admiral Thrawn may i just ask what the point of having the W1 chipset in a low quality pair of headphones is? if you stick a good bluetooth chipset and controller in the things and they suck then its still just a bad pair of headphones regardless of how good the bluetooth is. unless youre doing mods? if so id be interested in hearing what. cause if you can stick the w1 in a different pair of cans via mods then its worth it maybe.
@@kingensai exactly apple not hyping v moda up to beats hype was a bad move. and yeah apple used to appeal to the audiophile market in some ways now they dont at all. wouldve been a good easy way to keep them in touch with that market at least a little bit.
That's why I buy male pants. Even cheap Walmart male jeans (cheap denim) are of better quality than female jeans (cheap thin elastic denim mixed crap) and they have pockets you can put stuff in. Not to mention male jeans tend to allow better movement and are not skin tight around the thigh so if they get wet you're stuck trying to peel them off.
Yup my pants don’t have front pockets, just fake ones for the look. Very common for women’s pants. So put my phone in my bag or back pocket in the when it’s warm and I don’t wear a jacket with pockets. And some jacket pockets are too small for a big phone.

I am not a huge fan of any company, but my most dramatic complaint about apple is that they will sacrifice functionality for aesthetic appeal. There is nothing WRONG with charging more for aesthetic appeal, but as most companies look at aesthetics as an afterthought, Apple seems to look at it as a primary thought. "can it fit in THESE chassis? No? MAKE IT!"
Yes that is why the Mac Laptops got rid of the USB A ports even though they could still fit them on/in the Macs even without making them thicker it was because they look ugly same reason they got rid of the SD Card Slot and HDMI & DisplayPort plugs! Apple has 1 of the best Cameras and Software for it on the market yet cant add it to their Macs WTF?! They still put Potato Cameras on their Macs even at the high end max out specs!
This is what pisses me off about so maybe software "engineers" using mac laptops, now I'm stuck with it being my mandatory work machine and my linux tools crashing all the time. Can't I use diff/merge some files without having to pay $70 for a license and install git without having to install xcode? Macbook pros as dev machines are a joke.
@@Scorpia161 it'a extremely true, it's an elitist luxury brand, function over form is what makes something robust and capable for power users, not wasting entire aluminum blocks to make the chassis weigh 3 times as much.
I was quite angry when they removed the headphone jack from their phones. I’m the type of person where I listen to music or UA-cam videos or podcasts a lot. I walk a lot and listen to stuff on the go, and I also have an amazing power bank, about the same size as my phone, with solar cells (while admittedly don’t work that well) that I was able to charge it AND listen... Until that phone died after years of use and I upgraded... And shit. It upset me a bit. That was until I got some pretty decent Bluetooth earbuds. Affordable at that. Battery life is an issue though so I do have to charge them often... but yeah. The lack of a headphone jack for aesthetic appeal is ridiculous.
Having run my own repair shop for 5 years I can safely say that the iPhone 6 is the ONLY phone i encountered with flexing damage. Not to say that other phones dont have problems, they do, just not this. In fact in the vast majority of cases other phones only broke due to misuse, not because they are made from recycled coke cans (not that i'm against recylcing or anything, its just they should be recycling the iphones back into coke cans).
MrWagglesProductions part of the problem is how firmly the pcb is secured to the frame. My LG V20 only has a few retention points which allows the frame to flex while limiting pcb flex
The iPhone 6s and newer are made from a much stronger Aluminum that seemed like an apt response from Apple to fix the problem. Your results would back this conclusion up. However, this video would suggest that all iPhone since the 6 have the same problem regardless of the hardware change. I’m not sure which conclusion I should draw from the situation.
Dean Natale apparently you didn’t listen to the opening repairs videos and all the remarks throughout the video that show this problem is also on the iphone7 .
I'm 32 years old... 32 years I have lived on this planet and only 3 years ago did i learn from my then girlfriend that most female jeans either have: a. Useless side pockets (pockets so shallow that you couldn't fit a bic lighter in it) or b. Entirely fake altogether (it's just a stitched pattern on the pant leg that doesn't open) I was so confused at this that I actually went in search for answers ... the journey was long and arduous. It lead me to a mountain with a wise old monk at the top.... But I'm fat so instead of climbing it i gave up and just googled it. Apparently having the extra cloth inside of the pant leg makes fitted pants look "wrinkly" or "bumpy". So basically women gave up the convenience of pockets for aesthetics...
Girls give up functionality for looks, Apple gives up functionality for Looks... no wonder I see way WAY more Female's with the iPhone.... JOKES, but I do see way more Female's with it...
It's strange how far people will go to defend a bad design, there's a good video by JerryRigEverything showing off the durability of the Nokia 8 from last year where he notes that the body is made from the same grade of Aluminium as the iPhone 6 is, and while there is a small amount of flex when he attempts to bend it in the video it is certainly nowhere near as substantial as it would be on an iPhone 6 if the same stress was applied to it just by adding a curve to the back panel of the phone. A bad design with the wrong materials is inexcusable for a company as large as Apple and I'll never understand why so many people still buy their products.
Exactly! And whats worse is those who use Apple products will defend the "Ease Of Use" cases of Apple products. Even though pointing out all these "Ease Of Use" cases exist on better built and not to mention cheaper devices.
I would guess for most it is brand recognition. Personally, I have a hard time finding small fast phones, and besides Apple, I've only found Sony smartphones with similar small size. I do not know if other Android manufacturers could capture a larger market, by making smaller phones.
Wow, it's 3 to midnight, and I give you my "funniest comment of 17.07.2018 on tech oriented UA-cam channel!" The invisible badge should appear on Your chest, mister!
kim jong skill indeed. As louiss correctly pointed out, flexion is independent of the external chasis. The thing with older 2 inch thick pcs is that they have 'dead space'.So even if the case bends by 1 mm, there is still a 2mm gap between it and the board. But now, with the ever present bragging rights I'm sorry thinness battle, if it bends by 0.5 mm, its already hitting the motherboard. This is also why the thinner the device, the worse the thermals. Even if you put an industrial grade fridge sized fan next to it, if there is no space between the components, air will not flow there in an appreciable amount
I work in a supermarket. I see a lot of people every day. About 90% of teenage girls carry their phone in their back pocket. They are the power users, constantly taking it out and putting it back all day long and they carry them in the currently modern tight pants. If a phone has problems with being flexed, it's not viable for about half it's userbase's everyday use.
DerPafferfish But mein Freund, that *is* the plan, they break the phone because of our design flaws, they blame themselves, they buy a new one, we make a killing!
Never actually thought about the back pocket thing with women... So I asked my wife... 15min rant about how tiny the front pockets of women's jeans are. Thanks for that.
"Women tend to see no problem putting a phone in their back pocket." Nah. I'm sure they see a problem with it. It's just that fashion hates women having convenient pockets that aren't fake.
Everyone knows that fake pockets were created in order to sell handbags. The ones saying that's not true are either running a company that sells fitted pants or a handbag company, or in denial about it.
Amanda Ansnes Laumann I also put my phone in my back pocket as I’m pretty paranoid about the radio frequency frying my man jewels if I put it in the front pocket. If I’m wearing a jacket I almost always put the phone in the secret pocket by the chest area. I honestly thought it was normal to put the phone in the back pocket.
It's a phone, if it can't handle me sitting on it why would I buy it. Why would I need to sit on my laptop, different devices have different durability test's for some people. If I did work in construction then your dam right I would accidentally sit on my laptop and if it broke it's one shitty laptop. A television just sit's in one place why would I want to sit or carry a television around with me? You may prefer to not sit on your phone, I could care less its a device I use for phone calls, messages, emails, and random media consumption, its a tool to connect with others is how I use it, if it fails my personal durability test then it was a crappy phone, you have your personal use for your device's, so you shouldn't try to guilt trip me with your opinion about how differently I view and use a device I own and is now my property with something as dull as "Mohamed Yousuf you're sitting on it? Would you sit on your laptop or TV?"
I have 1 pair of pants with functional pockets. Phones, keys, coins, whatever, all just slide out of the rest. And the back pockets are allays to small to fit anything in, so why use them either? In the end I just carry everything in my hands to save the trouble.

AcridTM there's no more tax evasion, apple moved to china, they pay 0% taxes, they did that after trump lowered taxes for business in usa to like 21% or 22%. Why did apple move if trump gave them lower taxes? because china gave them a 0% tax offert as long as they share their data with the government ;)
loopje But they don't actually have that $950 billion dollars on them. The $950 billion dollar is just their market cap, it's not how much they can actually spend.
And it contradicts the usual justification to buy expensive Apple products: People claim that they are not more expensive in the long run because you use them much longer than cheaper phones. (Providing you bought the one with enough memory built in because it's not possible to put a microSD card in and move some of the stuff on it. That also doesn't fit to that logic, just like SSDs and Ram soldered on a main board you can't access because you are not supposed to open the case of your computer.)
@King J-dub I still have my s2 and my s4 and they work fine. Just slow af and I had to repair screens. But as a backup phone on vacation they're amazing
4 years is impossible for Apple phones. iPhone 6 will get it's iOS 11, and the battery will start to last 4 hours on a normal day. Android phones, on the other hand, stay on the lower firmware, and can last for a long, long time, until the battery naturally degrades, or when a user makes a critical fuckup.
@lasest2 I'm 11 months late, but yeah I had the same reaction with "Painfully Honest Tech" who got a viral video about how he's ditching Apple after so many years, just to go back to them a couple of months later stating how they just do it better.
People "testing" these devices don't seem to realize that it's not a one time and it's broke. It the sitting in your pocked in rush hour traffic for 45minutes. Another point they don't seem to take into account is that when the phone is charging or discharging it gets hot. You have it in a pocket/purse/car holder and it's on/gps/charging and there is any type of strain it will be magnified by the heat being created inside the phone. While the case may not suffer due to it's bad thermodynamics the metals on the inside conducting the business of the phone is going to take damage. If you're up north where it gets cold there's the possibility of more dynamic thermal changes. Think about taking the phone off the charger walking outside where it's 30F and sitting it on the hood of your car for a couple minutes while you grab something form the back seat or whatever.
This is one reason why I hate Apple. Companies like Samsung acknowledge their issues, like when the batteries exploded in the Note 7. They handled the issue well and redesigned the battery to ensure safety for their customers. Apple in the same situation would blame the consumer and make them pay 70 bucks to replace the battery.
BrutalSystem Apple did acknowledge bendgate by using thicker aluminium on the 6S, then making the aluminium even thicker on the 7, then applying a glass back on the 8 & stainless steel sides on the X.
Nath m Plunk Thats not “acknowledging” a defective product. If Apple said “Our phones are prone to bending and should be handled more carefully than usual” and apologized to the customers experiencing the issue then THAT would be acknowledging the issue. Making a new phone with a higher grade aluminum and calling that acknowledging an issue is like Sony having defective and overheating PlayStations and making a new one without the issue. Don’t be stupid. Apple did not acknowledge the issue properly like Samsung did with the battery issue. Also don’t say the back glass on the new iPhones improves the build quality. In fact, it is a design FLAW as it is so poorly designed having the glass permanently “glued” to the frame. That is an awful design.
BrutalSystem the iPhone 6 bending overtime wasn’t a big enough problem for Apple to recall it. Yes people did get touch disease from the iPhone 6 but it was a small amount compared to how many people bought it. I still see a lot of people using an iPhone 6 today, some without a case. And from what I’ve heard, Apple eventually offered free repairs for people who suffered from bendgate & touch disease. My point on bringing up the iPhone 8 & X is that there both near impossible to bend with the glass back & well suited to resist overtime bending. Granted, I didn’t know about the glass back being glued in & I don’t know if that’s even a problem because no ones had an issue (from what I’ve heard) with the back of an 8 or X. People buy Apple products because they expect them to just work & not have to tear apart their products to see if its good, most people who buy Apple products do have a good experience with them which is why a lot of people use them. Even the iPhone 5s is still running well & will run better on iOS 12. And calling someone stupid doesn’t open doors to learning, instead it just blocks people out. So don’t be hostile man :)
Nath m Plunk I was not trying to be hostile, which is why I said don’t be stupid, as your example for a acknowledgment was not the best. However, I was not suggesting a recall for the 6, but more an apology for the issue. Also, Apple did have a fix for the Touch IC issue, but it was 160 bucks and was only for the plus model. Also, the reason why the glass back on the new iPhones is an issue as it is impossible to fix without brute force and dedication. It cost upwards of 550 bucks to replace by Apple for the X. In my opinion bending is worse than shattered glass, but for something that costs 700, 800, or even 1000 it should be made to last a while and not need any extremely expensive repairs. I don’t buy Apple products anymore because of poor quality. I had 3 non-accidental issues on my old 7 (One being that it would not connect to any networks, the second being it would boot loop, and the final being audio issues with the mic) before giving up and switching to Android. This was not my only bad experience with Apple, as the iPad I use for streaming and UA-cam suffers severe throttling, constant restarts, and can’t live more than 5 minutes on battery. Seriously, this thing is only a couple years old and has been taken care of. This should not happen.
So on a side note...females are more likely to put their phones in the back pocket because women's clothes suck and rarely have decent other pockets. Those of us who don't want to carry a purse all the time have the option of either sticking it in their back pocket (which I'm often guilty of) or down our bra.
There's nothing quite like trying to answer the phone when it's stuck to your boob and won't come out of your bra, am I right? Back pocket for me every time... 😁
@@ravik007ggn Well I don't use Apple junk, so nope. 😊 I also sit down slowly because I have a hip issue, so I feel the resistance before damage could be done, but honestly removing my phone from my back pocket to sit down has become a reflex action. 😁

Clariece C because he keeps getting broken apple products. And android broken after a few months? Dad still has an s5 working, i have s8 for a year. Damn the salt of these apple fanboys. Talks the talk but cant walk the walk
The reason women are more likely to put phones in the back pocket is because women's trousers very often have uselessly small or non-existent front pockets. I own only one pair of jeans that can reasonably fit my phone and it's not even that large, 5" screen.
As a man, I think that is a genuine issue for feminism. Either the clothes makers think that a "propper" woman should be more concerned with style than practicality or they just want to sell more handbags. In any case, it's archaic, despicable and should stop.
Flexion based damage is like using a can opener and leaving a little bit of metal to hold the top on. Then move the top up and down, over and over, and finally, the rest of metal holding the top eventually breaks.
I tear drop ran down my cheek when you shit talked about the Nexus 6p. I used that device for 2 years, then passed it down to my little sister who's now been using it for about a year. The battery went bad but we replaced at home with a ebay battery about a month ago and it's been amazing again. Very responsive, great camera even compared with the latest phones, and excellent front facing speakers. It even survived a massive fall two years ago but luckily the spigen case absorbed all the damage. Also, I've never sat on it lol
@@TheHaters112 bruh what are you doing to your phone to manage to fuck the battery 3 times in 2 years? My phone is 3 and a half years old and still on the original battery. It still has around 70% capacity.
The word that needed to be used and is the reason for these failures, the scientific term is "WORK HARDENING" Bending any type of metal over and over at a focal point aka these traces where they meet the pad, causes the metal to become harder and harder due to the metal atoms moving. After so long the metal (copper in the trace) becomes very hard but the draw back to very hard metals are they are BRITTLE. Brittle metal in an area of flex causes breaking. These micro fractures cause a "dirty" signal coming from the LCD on the BSync line for Touch IC and on the iPhone 7 series this causes a "dirty" signal on a AP to Audio Codec line. This issue is a design flaw and NEVER has been a user issue. They lied and charge money to fix their design issue, that still hasnt been addressed. Also the underfill option was tried on a revised version of the 6 Plus and it does not prevent the issue. It has happened on underfilled iPhone 6 Plus after replacement with Apple applied underfill. It does not address the issue of flex and WORK HARDENING.
To elaborate on your point. During each flex, there the atoms in the alloy go through microscopic dislocations. As the dislocations get more severe, there will be 'pockets' called crazes that will appear in the microstructure of the alloy. These crazes and dislocations at the same time will lower the yield strength, as well as concentrate the stresses at these crazes. Thus leading to fatigue failure. :)
I don't think it's called work hardening. It's failure due to fatigue. Work hardening is a manufacturing process that make the device stronger (also a bit more brittle). Work hardening is not something that happens over time. It's fatigue, it causes micro cracks in the grain boundaries of the material which then slowly propagate till they reach point of critical failure. I have just finished a material science couse and I am sure that I have this right.
Samsung has stores too! Thousands of them mainly in malls... Do you live in a small rural city? Do samsung dont threat the Us as other countries? Also why the heck do you need a store to fix a godamn phone? Take it to the manufacturers authorized service shop.....
Also, what's even more inane about the glass back analogy, is that the glass back doesn't break from regular use. You'd have to drop it or something. So it's still not comparable because one type of damage would be the users fault and the other wouldn't.
Louis, you sometimes imo rant and carp about small things but then sometimes you make videos like these which are fantastic. I can't decide if I 100% like your channel but you seem to be an honest good person trying and I have to respect that. Good on you mate. im talking about the dumbasses that argue with me at my high school when i tell them why their phone broke. legit they dont listen since im 15 even tho literally i just fixed it. i cant stand those dumbass apple sheep that obey apple and say that apple is always right
I had two iphone 6's... I bought one for myself and one for my boyfriend.. Right after the warranty ended both phones failed with the defect. I went back to the apple store and they said I would have to pay for the repair but the tech also said it would reoccur and recommended that I buy the iphone 6s... I was stuck I needed a phone and could not wait weeks to get ones that I had "repaired". So out comes the credit card and I buy 2 more phones... what's that.. like $4000.00 in phones!!! I also could see no visable bend in the case.I didn't even know about bendgate. I still have the 6s's but they are starting to crash for no reason. I'm going to samsung and android. Not only does iphones suck i'm also tired of apples content blocking... I'm paying almost $1000.00 for a device... it's mine.. I should be able to do with it what I want.
I can feel you! One of the many reasons I never bought an iPhone is this no bluetooth, appstore only, no SD card, non-removable battery, 'secure' bullshit .. if I get a phone, I want to do whatever I want with it, and as long as apple keeps their bullshit, I won't even consider going iOS. Granted my current phone has an unremovable battery .. but it was the cheapest phone in it's class. If I'm paying for an iPhone, I expect no flaws, let alone technical flaws that they don't even support!
Best thing I did for my turd 6 is I put it in an otter box. I never broke it yet, but did get a warranty replacement thru my phone plan, and shortly after I got the battery drain issue. Methinks I got a phone that sat uncharged for a long time on the shelf. I’m done with it, as soon as my plan is up I’m switching back to android.
Unfortunately, that's not the prevailing view these days. From Apple to automobile manufacturers, your physical ability or legal right to freely use/repair/modify the products you buy is undesired. The fashion of rent-seeking behavior drives them to artificially limit the longevity and arbitrary use of products. ... so no, in their eyes, it's not yours and you should only be able to do what they want to let you do.
Again its 2018 and he's obsessed with the 14 iPhones that bent in 2014. Why won't he review the crap iKnockoffs that fail after months and run an abandonware OS called android?
He is bringing forward an issue that lot of his customers faced with the icrap iphone 6. As for android he does not talk about them because majority of the hardware he repairs is apple based. Also, it should also be self explanatory why he does not get a lot of android phones for repair, maybe because they dont fail as much?
"Maybe", except statistics show they fail in 2 years average. They're knockoffs for a reason buddy. Common sense. Explain why so many people still use fully functioning iPhone 5s and Apple is STILL supporting 5 year old devices while you're lucky to get support for 2 years on an iKnockoff. Hm..... Why device is bootlooping? For an example I am making firmwares for my DIY devices, some of them is using Linux, some of them are programmed using just C++ or ASM, and when some of my periferial chips are not responding then my firmware just disables that feature, I am not throwing "Kernel Panic". Why big company as Apple couldn't just disable audio IC if it is not responding? What the point of force restarting the phone, they are thinking that if device will reboot then chip will fix itself? Definitely NOT!
Let me guess. Every piece of HW on Apple devices is somehow signed. If the HW is disconnected (thus not signed) it can't boot (anti counter-fitting measurement) -> They would never allow you to have non-apple HW in your device ;)
To be fair there are some circumstances where that will occur (at least on windows, i'm not a linux user) if you have a defective component sometimes. It's those obscure things where you plug in a new mouse and it bricks your computer for some reason, until you unplug it and it's just the mouse disagreeing with your computer and not the USB port for some reason, or your new sound card makes your computer BSOD on startup every time. Doesn't happen very often at all though, but that's why the 2 last paragraphs of the old bluescreen were there, because it happens occasionally. www.wintips.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/image-27.png and i'm not trying to defend the iphone, i'm just bringing up other similar situations; but at the same time windows gives you a possible solution and tells you that something went wrong, it doesn't just keep restarting and wonder what's wrong
Another possible reason (other then the HW being signed) could be them trying to minimize user info on the problem. If their phones constantly bootloop whenever something goes wrong then you'll only have people complaining about bootlooping instead of complaining about a myriad of things such as their touch screen not working, or mic, or audio etc. making it harder to diagnose whats gone wrong as you don't know what has the problem. This is just speculation though, but i could see a company with shitty anti-consumer policies doing this.
From a software developer point of view, it's often better (as in basically always better, and 1000x easier to debug) to FAIL FAST than to try and skip something that's not quite right and try to let the operation continue. In the software space, if you don't kick out a FAIL quickly, you might continue on and corrupt data because something was junk. You might crash the entire system or let some obscure bug open up a security hole just because you wanted to be snazzy and continue on after recognizing a problem. I imagine this is also the case in hardware, but with possibly worse ramifications. What if something isn't working because it's basically shorted? If you continue to let the device try and run, you might be looking at further hardware damage, or worse, a fire. Not to mention, if you attempt to handle all error states gracefully, it gets complicated FAST, and can quickly become a nightmare of if/else, go here, do that, check this... just to do a simple task. Just do the task if you can, and fail if not. If you hear weird noises from under your car's hood, do you think "Oh well, it COULD be nothing. I'll just start this road trip anyways."?
Hey, just so everyone knows the reason girls put their phone in their back pocket is because often our pants our made with no front pocket or very shallow ones that dont fit
Unnamed Review Guy Drew never went over the part where Apple re-released an iPhone 6 again in 2017, only this time with 32 GB of storage instead of the original 16 GB of storage. So why did Apple re-release the iPhone 6 again in 2017? Ask yourself that.
Sean Godsell They re released it because I was a good way to get a cheap phone on some budget carriers such as Boost Mobile to complete with the budget Android phones most of those company customers always used. You can release a flawed design over and over doesn't make it any better.

Louis have you have you ever heard of apples slander campaigns on most forums of their competitors? I found it with blackberry phones when reading the forums about different issues they would have, I would see the phases "I had this problem and upgraded to an iphone" or just "I upgraded to an iphone", and though I have no doubt the odd one may have been real, most were copy and pasted troll comments from troll accounts that posted nothing else, i have no doubt these people were paid by apple to slander their competitors, and i also think it has a large part of why blackberry was such a bust when they tried to compete with apple(aside from the obvious known tech issues of course) I'd love to see a video on this

hey Louis, I know this is irrelevant, but I couldn't think of a better person to ask. I need a soldering iron for some projects. Some of them need precision and my old 60W iron wont cut it with that thick tip. Can you recommend anything cheap, but good from ebay or aliexpress?
Some consumers are moronic, after-all in their eyes if you can't see it happen immediately, then ""it's not an issue."" When in most cases defects aren't always immediately apparent.
To be blunt. My job is for the last 25 years is as a manager and a tech at an arcade company. EVERYTIME I see a girl/teen/young adult?!?!!? The cell phone (regardless of WHO made it!) is 95% of the time sticking out their back pocket! I'm talking several inches sticking out of the back pocket! If I was a parent I'd be furious at my daughter for leaving a $500+++ Device (in some cases...) sticking out a back pocket just waiting for a thief to do a 'bump grab'.. Hey, I'm in the Syracuse, NY area! We get our share of low life slags! And this is common! So for this man-child to act so indigent with his extreme body movements.. Just a fan boy trying to score subscribers and points with the apple sheep....err..customer base.
The choice is to buy trousers with larger front pockets, voting with money against defective trousers. If there are absolutely none, replace pockets by yourself, order a custom-designed trousers or start your own business. In other words, take the matter into your own hands for a change.
I love your tech channel because you don't talk bs. Thanks for scraping time off from your long workdays to deliver tech-literate opinions. It is GREATLY appreciated by any of your followers, I am sure!
Damn man, you are awesome. You just blasted the crap out of his ridiculous assertions. Even as someone who doesn't have a background in repairing electronics, I can easily see how constant, repeated minor bending can cause stress breakage over time. It's the same principle as taking a large piece of metal and constantly bending it back and forth a little bit. Eventually you will see the metal weaken and fail.
5:29 - Alternatively, Samsung admitted, voluntarily recalled, repaired and redesigned the batteries for future phones after the Note7 debacle, the Galaxy S8 was the first phone where the battery will not cause a fire if the battery is damaged - THAT is quality design and service. Apple on the other hand still deny and do this fkn iGarbage every year, they know their drooling fans will not critique Apple as *they can do no wrong, even when repeatedly proven they suck*...sigh 15:47 - This was why bought the GS5 when the GS6 came out! No ip67, no removable battery, no microSD and no USB3.0...BUT, Samsung LISTENED to popular demands and RE-included the ip68 water resistance, microSD support, USB-C but sadly removed removable battery, air-view,glove mode and the i.r blaster (great to make your GS5 into a universal remote for your tv, radio, a.c etc.)
"Alternatively, Samsung admitted, voluntarily recalled, repaired and redesigned the batteries for future phones after the Note7 debacle" Well DUH. Cause it could literally kill you
*steven4570* - You have replies turned off, so i'll say this here. Lives were not at risk, they definitely are not any more. The point you seemed to miss was the fact that Samsung unlike Apple faced the issue, dealt with it and made a better device. Apple has done NONE of these things in the MANY issues they have had across devices. Some have been serious such as the 7 iphone7's exploding ala note7's 9 that went boom with batteries from the same factory... Their bluetooth earbuds exploding in people's ears/faces is kind of a serious issue too. Again as usual, suppressed by Apple..... So on and so forth my trolly friend.
Uhm, I'm pretty sure an exploding phone is life threatening. "Their bluetooth earbuds exploding in people's ears/faces is kind of a serious issue too." Perhaps you should understand the difference between and isolated case and a pattern.
Also Samsung seems to actually listen to criticism to some degree. Look at the Galaxy S7, with the Galaxy S7 they fixed almost all the things people criticized about the S6, they added back MicroSD support, water resistance and put in a significantly larger battery. Kudos
lol... i bought Uniqlo men's pants once because hey, free tailoring for the length, and i knew my phone would fit in the pocket... AND I DISCOVERED MEN'S PANTS HAVE A BONUS POCKET IN THE BOTTOM OF THE RIGHT FRONT POCKET!?!? big enough i could slide a credit card in there, some folded up bills, coins, and even my keys, so they wouldn't scratch up the phone. and that's just the right side! i hardly knew what to do with the sudden abundance of pockets!

It's called fatigue damage. Mechanical engineering is kind of a mystery for apple
And for Apple fanboys as well, apparently.
Personally I dont think that's a big problem, as Jobs made fun of stylus and now it's a great addition, it's hard to be ahead of time. But the fact that they are making fun of a phone cuz its BIG, that's stupid lol
And that's funny he mentioned iPad bending and it ended up being a problem with the 2018 model.
Its a feature not a defect /s
what do you expect
@@pr0xZen Not just the squared edges. The smart connector pins sits right in the middle with the body being so thin there is no structural rigidity to it.

It is meant to stop the loop-hole that someone can 'lose' their phone in their cupboard, get a new one and then 'find' the old one. If you tell them it was outside the home, it lets them come after you if you find it in your home. At least, that is how I understand the pds of my insurance.

Fun Fact:
The beats headphones that apple now sells as proprietary hardware are made with the cheapest most low quality parts that can be sourced, the way they make them feel heavy is by screwing 1 pound pieces of aluminum into the earpieces on their over ear monitors.
Dr, Dre even admitted in an interview that he knows beats headphones are cheap shit made with junk components but people still buy them because they aren't smart enough to realize they're paying $150 for headphones that would otherwise be the kind you'd buy for $25 at walmart.
Beats have always been made to be shitty, even back when Monster owned them. No fucking wonder Apple bought them out.
apple also used to at least sell v moda headphones in their store and those are fucking amazing, what beats would be if beats were quality.
Girls put the phone in the back pocket because girl pants are terrible and most have tiny front pockets if any.
And to attact attention to the booty I bet, 2 birds with 1 stone

They still put Potato Cameras on their Macs even at the high end max out specs!
ye i recently saw someone on tumblr actually say 'apple isn't a tech company, it's a fashion brand' and honestly... not wrong imo

I'm 32 years old... 32 years I have lived on this planet and only 3 years ago did i learn from my then girlfriend that most female jeans either have:
a. Useless side pockets (pockets so shallow that you couldn't fit a bic lighter in it)
or
b. Entirely fake altogether (it's just a stitched pattern on the pant leg that doesn't open)
I was so confused at this that I actually went in search for answers ... the journey was long and arduous.
This is sad......

I do not know if other Android manufacturers could capture a larger market, by making smaller phones.

kim jong skill indeed.

"I also put my phone in my back pocket as I’m pretty paranoid about the radio frequency frying my man jewels if I put it in the front pocket. If I’m wearing a jacket I almost always put the phone in the secret pocket by the chest area. I honestly thought it was normal to put the phone in the back pocket." I explained why right in my first response.
Mohamed Yousuf should more paranoid about a tap on your back pocket ,oh look where has my phone or wallet gone .why you would sit down without first removing your phone from your back pocket is anyone guess ..

Awesome video and very well explained as usual. thumbs up
This is the kind of competence nearly all YT channel lack!
"why are we still talking about a hardware flaw from a device from 2014?"
Because a phone should last at least 4 years
And it contradicts the usual justification to buy expensive Apple products: People claim that they are not more expensive in the long run because you use them much longer than cheaper phones.
(Providing you bought the one with enough memory built in because it's not possible to put a microSD card in and move some of the stuff on it. That also doesn't fit to that logic, just like SSDs and Ram soldered on a main board you can't access because you are not supposed to open the case of your computer.)
Because the iphone “8” is just the iphone 6sss
@King J-dub I still have my s2 and my s4 and they work fine. Just slow af and I had to repair screens. But as a backup phone on vacation they're amazing
I bought a used android in 2013 and it lasted for me until 2018
4 years is impossible for Apple phones. iPhone 6 will get it's iOS 11, and the battery will start to last 4 hours on a normal day. Android phones, on the other hand, stay on the lower firmware, and can last for a long, long time, until the battery naturally degrades, or when a user makes a critical fuckup.
I can't stand that TailosiveTech guy. He is way too Apple bias. Defending their issues like the new iPad bending like paper. That Apple cult is crazy
He's the typical Apple Sheep.

P S that's an interesting comment.
16:29 "Put touchwiz on it just to make sure that it's extra slow and gives you that lovely samsung lagging experience." That made me laugh so hard.
Love this rant. I know it’s old but I’ve just rewatched it from years ago. “Since before you even started puberty” classic retro put down.
BrutalSystem May I ask what’s so bad about a glued back glass?
Damn... Louis just killed someone I think,.

I said something similar to this. With larger phones my back pocket is almost always the only pocket that is large enough.
I never knew that about womens pockets. this video should have been about womens pockets
So why not buy pants with actual/better front pockets? It's not like they're dodos.
Lol my gf always complains about that, came to.my.mind as soon as he said the backpocket thing lol
I had it for 2½ years. 3 battery replacements. Ended up breaking the screen on repair on my 4th try.
B&C Connection LLC just like copper wires/pipes in a network cab, a boiler or a car. 👍
Fatigue fracture* just saying and very informative btw :) I like!
Rossman was also. Fatigue due to flexure.
That's why we watch Louis... We wanna hear all about your ppbus...

Well, you see Louis, Apple has a store, therefore...*picks nose*
but samsung will actually send someone to your home. why would anyone want to drive to the store when you can get vip service to your house?
Samsung has stores too! Thousands of them mainly in malls...
Do you live in a small rural city?
Do samsung dont threat the Us as other countries?
Also why the heck do you need a store to fix a godamn phone? Take it to the manufacturers authorized service shop.....
coffee115 you'd think Louis would appreciate it more.... I mean, he has a store!
I'm pretty sure Samsung has stores in Europe, but not in the US. Not sure about Canada.
Am I 22 or am I 8? Lmfao
I too like a physical place to get told to fuck myself instead of just apple.com
Kobe Wild I'd recommend asking around. Samsung doesn't do too well with updates.
Do you guys put your phones in the side pockets. Or back pockets?
Unfortunately, that's not the prevailing view these days. From Apple to automobile manufacturers, your physical ability or legal right to freely use/repair/modify the products you buy is undesired. The fashion of rent-seeking behavior drives them to artificially limit the longevity and arbitrary use of products. ... so no, in their eyes, it's not yours and you should only be able to do what they want to let you do.
"DO YOU EVEN SOLDER?"

Shcherbyna M try and catch ;)
Doesn't happen very often at all though, but that's why the 2 last paragraphs of the old bluescreen were there, because it happens occasionally.
www.wintips.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/image-27.png
and i'm not trying to defend the iphone, i'm just bringing up other similar situations; but at the same time windows gives you a possible solution and tells you that something went wrong, it doesn't just keep restarting and wonder what's wrong

So for this man-child to act so indigent with his extreme body movements.. (Seriously...Bathroom down the hall and to the right...Looks like he was doing the peepee dance most of the video).....
"Women use handbags anyways, so pockets are unnecessary"

"Their bluetooth earbuds exploding in people's ears/faces is kind of a serious issue too."
Perhaps you should understand the difference between and isolated case and a pattern.
steven4570 at least it didnt kill some one like iphones did
Also Samsung seems to actually listen to criticism to some degree. Look at the Galaxy S7, with the Galaxy S7 they fixed almost all the things people criticized about the S6, they added back MicroSD support, water resistance and put in a significantly larger battery. Kudos
"back, forth, back, forth" voice of an angel.
I put on my wife’s pants one time when I was tired tried to put my phone in my pocket and it went in about an inch the front pockets are normally fake
lol... i bought Uniqlo men's pants once because hey, free tailoring for the length, and i knew my phone would fit in the pocket...
