I always would've liked it if the mercs spoke English, since I always figured they were American PMCs, since their faction flag is an eagle. (And since they use western gear like M16s)
Me too, it would be interesting if in Stalker 2, there would be also Mercs who speak in English, Russian, Ukrainian, German, Swedish, Italian and South African, though it would be confusing, so maybe leave it to Ukrainian, Russian and English and let the mods do that And not just suing a Eagle and using M16s, but also ballistic nylon vests (similar to British SAS vests) and M40 gas masks (like the ones used in the Persian Gulf War of 1990-1991)
Interesting thing about early versions of mercs is that they had strongly middle eastern accent. (and you can actually hear that version in Shadow of Chernobyl sometimes) And in the last version they are using some english words instead of russian ones in the middle of phrase which is also making me feel that they are only trying to disguise their origin
the mercs are also specifically supposed to be from all NATO nations, they should be speaking everything from German to English and not Russian, as most mercs aren't from Russia in universe.
I like it, there are some who resent the rest, they wish they could work as a team, but they see that the others are self serving, selfish bastards. And others who are just in it for the money.

@secretsecret1036 I find it more immersive when they speak english. Imagine traveling in the zone hearing only russian, just to reach the dead city mercs camp and suddenly see 5 dudes near a camp fire one playing a guitar all speaking english it feels like it's what they should be, external troops inserted into the zone to complete missions and gather intel for western organizations.
If you do their missions in anomaly as a disguised merc or any neutral faction to mercs and get up 1000 goodwill. Then they won't shoot you on sight and you will be able to talk to them.

Back in 2009, if GSC was rich then we actually can hear the American voice in the Zone. Cause GSC already planned to make these armed forces American. I don't know if it ruin the Stalker atmosphere for you guys but i really love the multi-language appeared in the Zone. It show to the player and the people in Stalker universe that The Zone is getting more and more dangerous through the time that the government from other country like the US or even the UNISG (faction from the UN in Anomaly) are trying to get involved with The Zone. The Zone is dangerous, but it has some forbidden knowledge that make the government want to risk their people to achieve that.
I think that in Anomaly the UNISG was an illogical faction, the mercenaries are the western guys in the area (western teams, western names and 2 black guys to emphasize it) and if the UN wanted to send their workers to the Zone, they would not create a new faction, he would only infiltrate people between the existing factions like Major Degtiarev did. I see no reason for UNISG to want to stand out and have feuds with almost all factions like Monolith.
UNISG are trying to uncover what led to the creation to the Zone and see if it can be tacked onto the Ukrainian government. If it can, which is very possible, the UN can claim they were negligent and duplicitous about their role in the biggest ecological disaster inhuman history. That basically opens up the Zone for a full scale UN intervention because it’s obviously a growing threat that isn’t being contained properly. Degtayerev and the Spetznaz want to prevent that obviously to minimize what would be a huge international incident. As for why UNISG are hostile to almost everyone, they haven’t had a presence in the Zone for years and stalkers love to talk and gossip. Just one loner reporting on their movements could endanger the entire operation as far as they’re concerned. The whole situation between UNISG and the other factions is basically a big stakes poker game where everyone at the table has a loaded gun resting on their legs and a very real willingness to win in whatever way possible.

If you can kinda fell for bandits, because in the outer world they are supposed to be in zone (Russian slang for jail) and have nowhere else to go, yet they can't help themselves, but go as bandits and hold for their friends as hold onto their gun, mercenaries are soulless fucks who ae worst of bandits, but get paid from outside, and ready to backstab their own team.
You could probably argue that they might not outright fight eachother but it wouldn't be unusual for a merc's buddies to "accidentally fall" into a deadly anomaly, "shoot themselves", or "get dragged off by mutants when everyone else is asleep" when less team members means less people they have to split their pay with.

And most of them are European with a few exceptions as being a Ukrainian Merc would be dangerous as you'd working against your own country and government. Just means you would be popped as soon as you stepped outside the zone into the normal world. The few Ukrainian Mercs there are, are supposedly outlaws, ex military with dishonourable discharges and generally people who don't plan to really leave the zone.
They could be Wagner group. Russian mercs.
From 0:42 to 1:58 the merc that stands on the wall teach us to not trust anyone, even if its your friend
I never knew the mercs were so ruthless. I always liked playing as one in the Call of Chernobyl mod
It makes sense hence they are mercs
The opening statement with the music gives a "these people are menaces" vibe.
Yea, just a healthy member of society over here
Everyone looking for the name of the soundtrack, it's actually One More Step from Metro Exodus by Alexey Omelchuk, specifically the centre section of the song after about a minute in 👍
Damn.. I'm pretty far in a Merc playthrough as well. Really dark characters indeed...
You should translate combat dialog too
So true
PAPALI PAPALI SUKIE!
mercs are a little tragic if you think about it, they were in the worst places fighting for money and contracts, they have seen many betrayals and backstabs in their lives, they lack trust because they dont want to end up like the other people outside the zone they have met, in the end they all want one thing, a good, healthy retirement for themselves where they live in peace
Mercs are litterally the only ones who actually want t be in the zone , I don’t see anything sad as they WILLINGLY choose this lifestyle and all they done is torture and kill people , while acting as a total psychopaths
@@august3268 yes you do have a point but look at it from a person who has seen the worst in their lives, I'm sure the mercs have gotten to that point due to terrible shit they went through
We as the player with maximal goodwill 🗿
Please do not forget about our swamp boys aka Clear Sky!
Damn, never realised that Merc were that distrusted and so heartless. For some reason always thought they'd have honour on them. Doesn't seem like it now
Pretty much sums up real mercs (not all but a lot of them).
Wow. Didn't realize these guys had literally zero comraderie. Even the bandits at least pretend to have some degree of fraternity.
Mercenaries are my favourite faction. I always play as them in Anomaly. You're like Loners only more ruthless.
More like better equipped bandits, i also love to play as a merc as well, rn i have a save where im playing as one!
Are you teenager ?
I always would've liked it if the mercs spoke English, since I always figured they were American PMCs, since their faction flag is an eagle. (And since they use western gear like M16s)
Me too, it would be interesting if in Stalker 2, there would be also Mercs who speak in English, Russian, Ukrainian, German, Swedish, Italian and South African, though it would be confusing, so maybe leave it to Ukrainian, Russian and English and let the mods do that
And not just suing a Eagle and using M16s, but also ballistic nylon vests (similar to British SAS vests) and M40 gas masks (like the ones used in the Persian Gulf War of 1990-1991)
Interesting thing about early versions of mercs is that they had strongly middle eastern accent. (and you can actually hear that version in Shadow of Chernobyl sometimes) And in the last version they are using some english words instead of russian ones in the middle of phrase which is also making me feel that they are only trying to disguise their origin
Yeppers, In the Shadow of Chernobyl they're clearly have an accent
Mercs could also be germans because there is an eagle in the german flag
There should be a language choice where each faction speaks their native language
I hope in STALKER 2 they give the Mercs voices on different lenguages, like English and German, to go with their NATO arsenal
the mercs are also specifically supposed to be from all NATO nations, they should be speaking everything from German to English and not Russian, as most mercs aren't from Russia in universe.
"hmm, i never heard mercs having a conversation....i wonder why"
(flash backs to 238 attempts of mercs shooting at everything on sight)
ayy thats why
I like it, there are some who resent the rest, they wish they could work as a team, but they see that the others are self serving, selfish bastards. And others who are just in it for the money.

I’ve heard these voicelines quite a lot because of the reason I always disguise myself as one of them in Anomaly because they sell mostly every good weapon. It’s nice to finally understand what they’re saying.
Voices for mercs are in english tho
@@facundoghisio425 In vanilla anomaly they don’t, if yours do speak English then you have a mod for them to speak in English.
@@facundoghisio425 you have gamma my friend.

They really though of everything while making these voicelines, they aren't random; he says "Haven't counted in a long time somehow..." it came to that point where the money doesn't really matter but survival.
Man mercs are really fucked up but that's what you get when you work for someone who doesn't even care about you...

I thought to add that not all mercenaries belong to the same team or group. Mercenaries exist as a faction yes but they all have different employes, different agenda and goals, some teams are more close knit than others.
I live how Gamma made Mercenary faction amazing with enlish voice acting
I’m glad they never translated these voice lines tbh it makes the zone feel more authentic maybe just me
Back in 2009, if GSC was rich then we actually can hear the American voice in the Zone.
Hey, can you do like Duty and Freedom chatter translation? When they're in Jupiter station?
As long as there are 2 mercs in the zone there is a plot to betray one of them.
Damn... mercs are fucking cold. That's kinda cool tho.
Good to know in STALKER roleplays I was playing my Mercenary OC correctly.
Thank fuck, I've been playing as these guys for a while now and I always hear them complaining about payment or the foot lmao

1:35 I was wondering if his dialogue would bring an escalation
This is just being an adult in general.
I like how the Mercs come off as even more selfish and sadistic than Bandits. Bandits are said to often be driven into the Zone by desperate circumstances, like trying to escape from gambling debts, the authorities, or even the mob. But Mercs? They have no redeeming circumstances, they CHOSE to be there.
I love mercs. They're charismatic
Back then I had no problem killing the mercs. Their armor when I had it modded was decent for a starter. Mi loved the original stalker suits if you found one at the start
Funny fact, but mercenaries do not kill each other and do not take orders for other mercenaries, they have their own syndicate and an unspoken rule "if an order is received for their own, then you need to eliminate the customer"
thank you, leaving mercs as we speak !

Not all of the mercs like this :(
Scar for example. And for me, if you're a fellow Nousagi, then we're cool :(
Scar is a lone mercenary, not a member of a syndicate. At the cordon, he is not accepted as a stalker, probably because he is ready to take an order for murder. But he's not cruel

Thank you so much for this videos
thank you very much for your work.
I am confused wiki clearly says they dont fight each other and here you have this backstabbing attitude
@@PhucketmcsucketI know it's just a chatter but fighting with mercenary companions in anomaly will never be the same again, I will always have these texts in the back of my head and feel uncomfortable ;)
