  • Visiting Jakarta Indonesia is not complete if you don't visit Pancoran Glodok - Chinatown of Jakarta.
    Whilst Glodok Pancoran is famous for Petak 9 (meaning Block 9), there is a new street food spot called Petak 6 (meaning Block 6). In this street food tour episode, we show you what to do in Jakarta, what to eat in Jakarta and where to eat in Jakarta including the hidden gems of Glodok Chinatown and PIK Pantjoran Chinatown!
    Petak Enam in Glodok Chinatown is fairly new and its one of the best place to savour some traditional Indonesian food, Chinese Indonesian food and also street food. They have a lot of variety from Nasi Sapo, Nasi Campur (combination rice) from Sedap Wangi, to one of my favourite Indonesian fish cake - Pempek Palembang. There are a lot of street food vendors here, which felt like a nice cleaner establishment options if your stomach isn't trained yet for the side of the street type of vendors yet. They also have a lot of halal options which caters greatly to most of the Indonesian people here. If you are heading down to Glodok Petak 6 (Enam), it is also worth visiting Kota Tua (Old City) which has retained their Dutch history and heritage.
    At night, we went to Pantjoran PIK or Pantai Indah Kapuk to explore their Chinatown, which is also fairly recent a new addition to the North Jakarta precinct. Now this Chinatown is equipped with well known retailer. Famous Indonesian street food and restaurant vendors, they even have Michelin Star Kam Roast Goose from Hong Kong. It's the perfect place if you don't know what to eat in Jakarta Indonesia because everything is basically here in one place.
    If you are wondering how to go around or transportation options in Jakarta, download Grab or GoJek - ride sharing app on your mobile phone. We used Grab and GoCar around Jakarta and it was very convenient and inexpensive.
    I hope you enjoy our second Jakarta vlog, more food vlog coming out in the next few weeks.

    Kuotie (鍋貼) / Gyoza (餃子) are both from China. Gyoza is simply the Japanese way to read Jiaozi (餃子 read in Mandarin). The main difference between the two is that the former is pan-fried, while the latter can also be steamed, etc. The same goes for ramen, which again is just the Japanese way to read Lamian (拉麵 in Mandarin).

    Hi guys, stumbled upon you last night as we plan to go to these places next month as my wife is from Jakarta, very good to see the changes in Jakarta. Then we watched your Indo food places in Kensington cos we're there so often, then another favourite of ours Kabul House in Merrylands, then off to Eastwood and West Ryde cos that's where we've lived for more than a decade, and you eat and shop where we do too lol. Being Irish, I'm not into chili so much but my wife has the bottle of sambal everywhere she goes. The Eastwood Hotel does a mean chili chicken as you know. Looking forward to watching more videos.

    Firstly Helmi's sunglasses are lovely.
    There is an Indonesian restaurant in Pyrmont near star casino, next to Coles Pyrmont in that arcade. I would be interested in your review - I don't understand 1 thing on that menu! Maybe the food you ate is on that menu. Indonesian food is starting to become popular --that was a good video that I will watch again

    Yeahhh OG refers to a person, not a place. But many people today misusing it to mean "the original (something)" or "old school". But everyone messes up African American slang anyhow so no worries.
    If you want say something or someone is "old school", just say that, it's correct.

    • @liongkienfai104
      @liongkienfai104 Рік тому +1

      @@salveregina7699 That makes sense if you are not Chinese Indonesian, or more specifically Chinese Jakartan/Surabayan. Chinese culture was forced to go underground for the most part, so a lot of Chinese Indonesians started westernising/anglicising themselves to fill in that gap. I'm Chinese Indonesian as well and notice my peers get more and more westernised as the generations go by. Not only did they water down their Chinese culture, but now some of them are starting to lose grasp of Indonesian culture too! But yes, your analysis is correct. Kuotie (Chinese/Indonesian terminology) are pot stickers (English terminology).
