Chinatown Jakarta FOOD HEAVEN!! 10 Indonesian STREET FOODS in Glodok, Indonesia!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 чер 2024
- Welcome to Indonesia's largest and oldest Chinatown in the heart of Jakarta! Otherwise known as Glodok, here you can find not just Chinese food but food from across Indonesia. This is my updated 2024 list of recommendations for Chinatown!
Every visit to Jakarta should include a stop in Chinatown. There is so much culture and history packed into a complex network of alleys always lined with street food vendors. These vendors are some of the hardest working and honest people you'll ever meet. Working long hours to produce sometimes only one dish to absolute perfection.

Hey Luke, great to have you back in Indonesia. Btw, wanna know what's funny? My fiance (he's American) will come to my hometown in Bogor in February 19th & he's been browsing youtube to see places that have yummy foods. Today he happened to find this video & he screenshot the scene when you had Ketoprak & messaged it to me when we chatted before I went to work. I was so surprised, I spontaneously exclaimed "You're watching Luke Martin! He's one of my favorite food vlogger." Well, we have planned to go to Glodok & your video gives information about more food we can try when we get there. Thanks for making this video, keep up the good work!
Thank u for sharing another amazing food tour episode of Indonesia Luke.
Greetings fron Jakarta 🙋♀
Thanks for watching!
as someone who lived in this area, thanks for enjoying our daily cuisine. Even i haven't really tried that all !
if you are planning to visit glodok area again, you should definitely try "Masakan 19" mini restoraunt (near Pasar Pagi ). Their springrolls (Lumpia Shanghai) and Fuyunghai is the best. It's worth to try !
not so far from masakan 19, there is someone who sell Gado Gado as well (Similiar to ketoprak). There is also Soto Pak Dadang, Sate, and a lot of others thing you should try !
notify me when you are planning to visit Glodok once again ! Would love to accompany you
Missing my hometown even more, since I have not been back for some time now. Thank you for sharing the awesomeness that Jakarta is
Our pleasure!
The fried bananas look special, hats off to that hardworking chef!
Coconut milk and turmeric are both healthy ingredients, and if the meal turns out to be delicious, that’s great!
When I was a kid, if I put that kind of biscuit in rice, my parents would definitely scold me, but I didn’t expect it to be an Indonesian delicacy!
This is the first time I see you being funny 15:00, you have great talent. haha! You did a really great job! Thanks a lot for sharing! 👍😄👏
Thanks Gianni! Glad you liked it :)

Love Glodok coming back soon 😊
chinatown in Jakarta has two type, Old ChinaTown in Glodok and New ChinaTown in PIK 2 (Pantai Indah Kapuk). so happy travel.
if u want to talk about 'chinatown' in the real meaning, it's actually many.
west n north jakarta are famous for Chinese population. soo, lots of Chinese clusters there.
so, better not talk about 'chinatown'. because it's a lot. probably like.. 'chinese culture center' or something.
edit; even near my house, there is like several long street that filled with Chinese that settled there. some of them also sell streetfood especially sweets. so, u can say it's 'chinatown' too, right/
@@DBT1007 i don't care about anything your comment

Definitely you need to make part 2 for the real Chinese food at Chinatown 😅😅😅😅
you have to try Indonesian food, nasi Padang😋
Next time, you should try the mochi inside the Chandra building. That's the only place that sells old time mochi.
I recommend you visit Pantjoran at PIK!❤
The best thing about Indonesian Chinatown is that you can find halal version of Chinese food or acculturation of chinese-java-betawi-dutch cuisine.
love your video....but so sad for the chained monkey....hope he gets rescued...!
Yuumy🤤
I love bakso so much ❤.
Welcome :) Enjoy your stay :)
Thanks! 😃
Indonesia is paradise of vegan food/dishes...and also there many combinations or colaborations of chinese and Indonesian food/dishes..where never found in china mainland...combinations/colaboratios creates halal food/dishes...

Greetings from Ont. Canada, Luke...born in JKT., visited back a few times before the MRT was built, I'd like to ask you..do you ever get sick, you know the D word, from eating street food, even though they're fresh? My brother-in-law actually got sick from the hotel food, imagine
next time u go to china town make sure to bring chindo with you, cos we have different food preference there.
1. Ayam grepek with spicy killer sambal (setan chilli)
My friends got scolded by mamang Ketoprak because she kept repeating the order HAHAHAHA
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Should try litbake house tho, its near Ketoprak stall
Yeah vegetarian luke thank you❤
I can't find the ketoprak place on Google. Does anyone know where it is?
Hi Luke. I love your videos. Would you be able to go to mauritius. It's very diverse and multicultural and unique food. From Indian food to Chinese influence food and French influence, I'm sure you will enjoy your trip there
And rodrigues and reunion Island too
I would like to go to Mauritius someday soon
I love all the butthurt comments about Luke's appearance and who he's dating, like uum get over it people lol. Some of us love Mink and Luke ❤️❤️❤️
I think you should have tried Bakmi AHong instead. It is the legendary one.
It's a shame your friend doesn't eat Betawi soto.Even though the Betawi soto is delicious.
What is the channel of the Indonesian guy that is in every food vloggers videos here in Jakarta?
🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👌👌👌
give them extra :)
6:44 When you eat bakso or soto or any meal like that, the taste will be bland. Indonesian usually add soy sauce, chilly, white pepper, or even more salt into the bowl because the seller makes the food with basic state, and the consumer add more flavor to their own taste. That's why you can see see soy sauce and chill sauce on ever table.
Kl utk lidah bule sudah gurih itu
@@waitandsee9345 Sekedar info, kali2 aja dia gak ngeh. Kan budaya makan setiap negara beda2.
aku orang indo pun suka makan bakso putihan gitu kak lebih mantap rasa original paling tambah sambal aja biar ada pedes dikit
@@chrysanttea268yes agree
Breakfast with KETOPRAK.... I hope it's not heavy breakfast for you as an european, mate... 😃
Coz KETOPRAK is common breakfast type for Indonesia people.
Luke, do you ever miss any food from Canada?
My grandmothers food
Hortons😂
Do you know ari's UA-cam channel?
I wanna join w you😂😅
Does anyone know ... The broth in the nasi ulam - is that beef broth?
Yes, they cooked with soy sweet sauce, cinnamon stick (not powder), and clove
Hai luke ,where are you come from..?
I'm from magelang,come here
best Chinatown food is not pig
but sheep 👍
Yang jenggot gemuk kebanyakan makan karbo dan gula,,kayaknya sakit sih
You went to Chinatown without local Chinese and only tried 1 Chinese dish😂😂
Yup! That’s the best thing about Chinatown, more than just Chinese food
@@LukeMartini think you must change the food tour gaet because he just recommend sweet food , sweet food its not healthy
i saw on some food vlogger he just eating sweet food
how the poor food tour guide
Its called indonesia chinatown
its called “chinatown” not “chinese food” indonesian-chinese aint sticking to their culgure that much anymore.
@@ronalfirnando2475i agreed with you dude , he just showing what kind of food he likes, he never try a new one, i just laughed when spicy tour food he just go to nasi kapau restaurant, or sundanese food , ofc its spicy , but still mild.. there's so many places or the viral one like sambal bakar , or abang adek indomie
Hai Luke. Glad to see u (again 😈) in Jkt. What makes you interested in Indonesia? is
the variety of tons foods? its culture? or something else? Thanks bro..
The people and the culture are so warm and friendly!
@@LukeMartin wow..thank u. Warm regards from me. Enjoy🥂
Food in Thailand is surely better in taste and varieties than these usually same thingy you can see in malaysia and philipines
Hmmm.. i wouldnt call it 'cheap' as it can be interpreted in various ways but i think you meant 'cheap' as in the monet you paid with the flavour and the portion size for a meal.
Yes that’s what I meant
I love you guys, Luke and Arie; but you went to Jakarta’s Chinatown and you didn’t try enough Chinese Indonesian dishes 😢 Granted _mi kangkung_ is something unique because of its Chinese and Indonesian fusion of flavors, but you should’ve tried things like _nasi campur_ (rice with assorted pork), _siomay_ (Chinese Indonesian-style of shumai), _nasi tim_ (minced pork on steamed rice), etc.
Don’t get me wrong, I love stuff Iike _soto tangkar, nasi ulam_ and _cempedak goreng_ but you were in friggin’ Chinatown, please have something you can’t get elsewhere 😭 And you definitely need to have better _bakmi_ recommendations with actual _tu bak_ (pork) in them.
Haha I understand! We wanted to eat more than just Chinese food because I’ve done an episode in the past on that
@@LukeMartin yes, saw that one as well a long time ago. There are still a lot to discover in Chinatown. It’s always to have you back in Indonesia, Luke! 🍻
What draws you to visit Southeast Asia?
Food
Eating Soto Tangkar without rice? That's illegal 😅
Presiden Obama liked Bakso so much during his childhood in Jakarta.
Oh dont care at all kitty
Tbh, other culture's cuisines in Chinatown taste better for some reason 🤔
Because Chinese food is Not authentic there
pakI sambel bos
M a n t a p 😮
Can somebody tell me who is this indo guy? seems to be in every foreign food vloger 😅
Luke , i think u have to change your food tour guide , he's only showing what kind of food he likes , when spicy food tour comin' he just go to kapau , padang , or sundanese .. i laughed so hard , ofc its good , but not for spicy edition.. there's so many a good places and virals restaurant in Jakarta.. like sambal bakar , richeese , mie abang adek , etc..
fried banana bank account : mahahahaaha
