In this video it’s day 1 of the Pajero mini roadtrip! I’m driving this Mitsubishi Pajero mini from Pheonix, AZ back to Bozeman, MT and I’m making daily videos along the way.
Great video! The folks at Luso have helped me out with a couple of hard-to-find things for my Montero Sport. Looking forward to that vid, as well as the rest of the trip. I almost always fly to buy used cars and drive them home. There's no feeling like that. I related to ALL of your emotions!
When I bought my Mini I had a 4 hours drive back home.. I felt so unsafe and stressed during the first half hour.. I kept wondering why I bought that thing.. now I've had it for a year and a half and really love that thing! Have fun with it!
ETHANOL AND LOW OCTANE IS A KILLER FOR THOSE OLD CARS WITHOUT ECU CONTROLLING THE IGNITION. MY 92 PRIZM AKA TOYOTA AE 91 SPRINTER IS MAKING A BAD PING AT AROUND 3000 RPM AT 30- 40 MPH. IT BLEW THE GASKET ONCE.. I REDID IT AND LOWERED THE THERMOSTAT OPENING TO 71 C AND IT IS STILL THERE BUT TO A LESSER DEGREE.
I've heard the Minis like to run at much higher RPM. The miss at lower rpm/under load might be the fuel pump beginning to fail. Similar thing going on in my 95 SR. Awesome adventure! Let us know what the fuel mpg is.
Man I know that anxious nerve racking feeling your were experiencing. I get that feeling every time I do some major work on my vehicles. I am curious though ...do you know what type of MPGs you were getting?
I worked for Mitsubishi for a long time and those cars are wonderful and incredibly reliable, but you can really fuck it up by putting the wrong fluids in it. I would not put any fluid in it other than engine oil that did not come from a Mitsubishi dealer. Especially transmission if you have an automatic and engine coolant. That goes for any car! Don’t buy parts at O’Reilly’s!
Man, Ernest and JBfP are some icons of the ♦️♦️♦️ community. Looking forward to more!

Yeah, Marco is a good dude. Just got him to pull some brake parts for me, and order new dust shields from Japan. Road trip is looking good so far!
Great trip to build up some confidence miles 🤘
You have great enthusiasm and make the vids interesting, very nice! This reminds me of the dodge raider.

haha glad i wasn't the only one stressing out in the first few minutes or real ownership
100 kph is the national speed limit of Japan and the limit of most highways, it is totally designed to cruise at that speed despite the high RPM!
Glad you had a good trip up man, mini always seems to like highier rpms at 660cc motorcycle engine style driving.

This car has an ECU.

It's the ECU. It was worse before I sourced a used one. The original needs to be sent in for rehab.
