Hi. Are you constantly feathering clutch once bike is up or just leaving it engaged and applying brake at tipping point to stay in balance point? Thanks a ton.
Feathering the clutch. Depending how slow your wheelie is, it helps to prevent you from stalling if you push your rear brake a little too hard. Ideally it would be nice to leave the clutch engaged, but keeping your fingers ready to feather will give you more control.
I never could slow wheelie, but I can wheelie from 2nd gear through to 6th and then the wind pushing the bike back helps keep it in the wheelie until you run out of room. I always fall one side or the other trying to slow wheelie like that. It's like the part of my brain that controls balance side to side doesn't work. I'm going to pick up an old trials bike and try to work on that among other things this year.
It's not lame! Almost any bike can wheelie, but certainly some are tougher than others. On your bike, you may have to really get your weight bike to allow the front end to pop off the ground. So take it slow, but get your weight back and see how it feels.
Definitely pay attention to when he says not to slam on the rear brake guys hahaha don't ask me how I know, but let's just say I had an interesting ride.
Great video thank you 👍 I’m new to the 4 strokers I’m from the 2 stroke days Broke many rear fenders and fouled plugs 😩 So I’m hoping what I’ve seen on this vid I’ll be able to start practice 👍
Absolutely the best wheelie tutorial video I’ve seen. Thumbs up and I’m gonna be checking back to reference this video the next time I go out to practice!
Moto Freak hey umm i have a 125cc pit bike and it just wont pull up the wheel while in bigger speed like 20-30 could it be cause the bike isnt powerful enough like i am 50kg 12 years old
Paul Brit I saved up a lot of money for the bike and it means a lot to me. It's the nicest bike I've ever owned. If I was to damage it, I have no money to replace any broken parts. Not everyone can be so careless.
@@mrpebis2208 don't buy something you can't afford to maintain (repairs included). You will drop a dirt bike 100%, unless you use it to commute to work in non-busy areas on paved roads, but then again, why get a dirtbike for that.
Hardest issue for me is popping the clutch. Seems I give it gas and let go of the clutch it just doesn't take off fast or does t give it enough power. Could it be it's a 250 klx and I weigh 250 lol
kawasaki000000000000 i have a jumpy 200 2 stroke lol its too powerful in 1st and wants to come completely off the ground and 2nd gear it has to be going pretty fast to hit powerband and it gets too fast for me to feel comfortable. Im not sure at what rpm to pop the clutch to get the wheel up controllably without feeling like im coming up way too fast and will loop
good points about putting the wheel up and tapping the break before you start trying to do balance point wheelies if you know how to save your self from looping out even if your not staying at balance point its okay it will eventually just click and you will know when to tap the break lightly to put the front wheel down just that little bit to go back to balance point. but this bit of just clicking can take 1 day of 40 days but when it clicks you will be the best out of your friends

Hey thanks for the vid! Awesome tutorial. Just a quick question, would you recommend taking off the rear fender until you get the hang of it? Don't wanna bust it if I loop out
I cannot stress enough how important drill #2 is. I could wheelie for a good while with NO rear brake control. Multiple loops. Finally went out and spent many hours just doing that drill. Sooo much better now and safer!
I love your videos. I broke my back 2010 on a dirt bike. Retired until two years ago. Was scared to death to get after it again. Watched video after video as a refresher. Went to the track with my kids last week (we all have bikes now) and I felt like although I was not as good as I once was I was definitely getting back to it. I feel like I have potential again. So you don’t recommend trying to wheelie with your feet down at first? That’s all I’ve been trying, and it’s hard, I can’t even really reach the ground
I don't see why keeping your feet down would help, i mean the only thing that can save u from a loop is the rear brake, keep that thing covered 24/7. For more advanced stuff like the in the pivot turn you can use 1 foot or more on the ground, but still one on the brake is safer..
That is awesome i appreciate you taking the time to make this video not only i learned new drills i also enjoyed the good vibes. Love u peeps keep up the good work and stay solid
Awesome video man, im not too good at wheelies I usually just pop the front up and ride it out for a bit. I'm going to practice theese drills I'm interested in the rear brake control I have never incorporated that in my wheelies I ride an xr650
My problem is when I have it up I go go way to fast and scared to get it up more then 2 inches. Need to also work on my back break because when I get to scared I forget to use the break and there goes my bike lol
I have been dreaming of having a dirt bike like the Honda CRF 250R or the Yamaha YZ 250 since I was still a kid, but it cost too much in our country. The Honda CRF 250r alone cost 399,000 pesos, which is a realy huge amount of money, this price can already build a small house in the Philippines heheheh. Having this bikes is too far from reality and I think having them will always be a dream...😭
One thing that i was doing wrong, was not giving it enough throttle. I have an 01 ttr 225 and what i do is: sit back, 2nd gear rolling at idle, clutch in and more throttle than youd think. If its not coming up just make sure youre dumping the clutch and you got enough throttle. I haven’t had to use my rear brake because i went too far back, i just let off the throttle and it drops back down. Took me about 30 minutes to figure out what i was doing wrong. Only took me 1 and a half hours total to actually power wheelie at least 5 parking space widths. Just take your time, and have fun. Hope this helpes
I cant wheelie this cr 125 I can only pop the wheel up if I go over a very steep jump and I don't know how to pop the clutch do I pop the clutch half way?
I hope you guys realize how much it helps to hear a time frame. For real i get so discouraged because i practice for a long time and dont make any progress. To know that if i practice for 2.5 to 3 hours i will probably see results helps out immensely, it gives me a point to look forward too. When i dont have a time frame its kinda like i feel like im never going to learn it but now that i know ok, 3 hours practice practice practice i can then practice better because i know i probably wont see any change for at least 45 minutes or until something clicks and i nail it. Thank you guys so much, so far you are the only ones to give an estimated time that will get me wheelying past the haters haha thanks again
Btw a long time for me is like half an hour lol by the time i've practice for half an hour i get bummed thinking i will never learn and give up. Now i will push myself to keep practicing knowing how long give or take i need to try.
I started trying to ride wheelies on the street when I was about 15, and didn’t get them on lock until I was about 18. Now I just turned 20 and can hit curves and such while riding stand up or sit down fast wheelies. The slow ones still get me. Close to dragging fender but it’s taken literal years to get there. Seat time is everything. Get on some dirt and don’t be afraid to loop out twenty times. Fenders are cheap. Of course I only practice the road wheelies on the road to and from the riding area (which I ride from my garage) and the slow wheelies were super rare to practice cause I was scared of em. Keep it up, it takes a lot of time. Next step for me is one handed 🙄
Jacob Schmidt its not replacing the fenders that was the issue. Its my dad, he gets nervous when i ride and im afraid if i wreck he will make me get rid of my bike, he already doesnt care too much for it. If i break my fender he will know i looped and it doesnt matter what id tell him hed probably still be upset...he worries and i get that he doesnt want me to get hurt but i just dont know what id do if i didnt have a bike anymore. That thing is a part of me lol on my old ttr125L i got knee knockers sorta somewhat learned, the problem is i dont like to be leaned back and i especially dont like leaning back real fast and my bike is a 200 2 stroke so it likes to come up fast and im just not used to it yet and not really sure when i will get use to it but thats my problem is panicing when it comes off the ground past like 2 or 2 1/2 feet and i take my feet off the pegs. Wheelying it isnt too hard even without clutching it up but like i said, getting use to being leaned back at that angle is the thing i have to learn and train myself to brake instead of try to leave lol
em Burgess for real bro, me too. I grip the bars really hard because im afraid of yanking up on the bars and slipping, just jumped my bike a couple hours ago using their techniques and it felt really good, didnt get swirly or anything. Didnt get but a couple feet of air but i'll take it lol

Would be nice to hear your story, how did you learned wheelie, was it just many years by just poping some wheelies for fun untill you got very good, or you was doing this tips
Too many people are afraid of flipping over all you need to do is go by the Motocross wheelie bar arm, that connects to the right side of your swing arm and hooks to your brake once you learn then you can hook it to your peg and you will never flip a game if you got the 300 bucks it's worth it
I know I'm going to get it this way I know I don't have to worry about ever flipping it over getting hurt and ruining my bike or hurting someone else plus you can go as fast as you want and you won't flip over
This must be a " do as I say, not as I do " kind of situation.. you say be easy on the rear brake as you proceed to slam the fuck out of that front tire when you " bring it back to earth ". Damn son.
Lmao for real tho i ride a 250 2 stroke and the hardest part of learning to wheelie at slow speeds was traction control on gravel roads. I only weigh 130 so its a bitch getting my back tire to hook up at any speed under 10
Get the new wheelie bars that connect to your break so you don't ruin your bike and flip it over then you can set it wherever you want hook it to your pic do wheelies at any speed you want but you hook it up to the brake for practice
My profile pic is after 2 hours of practicing this

Way easier to loop that and way less control but it does depend on the person.

Would be nice to hear your story, how did you learned wheelie, was it just many years by just poping some wheelies for fun untill you got very good, or you was doing this tips
What's a good cheap bike to learn better wheelies so I dont fuck up my new 450?
Dumb question maybe. But how do or what is 'popping the clutch'?
Too many people are afraid of flipping over all you need to do is go by the Motocross wheelie bar arm, that connects to the right side of your swing arm and hooks to your brake once you learn then you can hook it to your peg and you will never flip a game if you got the 300 bucks it's worth it
Good Stuff!!! Best part is the "practice each drill 1 - 3 hours". Very true. Muscle memory is critical to building your skills.

Get the new wheelie bars that connect to your break so you don't ruin your bike and flip it over then you can set it wherever you want hook it to your pic do wheelies at any speed you want but you hook it up to the brake for practice
