- Peugeot 305 SR estate 1981 one owner , sitting in the corner of a farm yard for 32 years
Is the old girl to far gone or does it stand a chance of coming back to life ???
I've arrived here via Matt and his lovely W123 which will receive some love and help from your goodself! Absolutely LOVE the Peugeot, old Peugeots are just fantastic and even before I was born, my grandparents tore around Botswana in the 70s in Peugeot 404s and 504s. I despise the current Peugeots so this is nourishing for the soul being an avid petrol head. Most people would see this as hopeless junk, I see it a car wanting to be brought back to life awesome video and new subscriber from Chester.
Cheers fella Mats 123 shouldn’t be to bad in comparison 👍
mans a magician ... best channel on youtube bar non!
Brilliant to watch a man who clearly loves his work.
That proud look on his face as the lights came on 😂 quality as always al.....
Wow no way did I think that wudda started up, what a talent you have, thoroughly enjoyed watching you bring her back to life 👍🏻
French cars have always had good comfy seats and still do.
I could watch this fantastic channel all day long … thoroughly enjoyed this episode Al ,thank you 🙏🏻
I'm lovin' this channel, your enthusiasm is wonderful Al.
Well done indeed, thought this one would be too far gone even for you to wake up!
G'Day from Western Australia 🇦🇺
We had a 305 diesel Van back in the day and it was brilliant
Never gave up and always started
Super reliable workhorse
Keep up the good work Al
If you need any parts hola. Got a shed full of old Peugeot bits around the 05 era. Lot are new from main dealer stock. Great video!
Could do with a few of your parts to keep mine alive if you're in the uk
Love your videos al have nearly every video watched ☺️
Wow Al, you've breathed life into another one. I admire you skills and ingenuity.
A brave man indeed. Bought a new t shirt and started working on the car. My wife would kill me. Great content as usual Al.
The riot wagon is looking good.
Great video as always.
Al 6D diesels looking decidedly chuffed with himself at the end there.. 10/10 fella
you have a great flair for this kind of thing. Lucky you can use these skills every day, to make people happy.
Sunday is now complete 👍
Thia goes well when your eating a roast 🎉
Fantastic video!!! One of the very best channels on UA-cam. How I wish cars looked like the 305 these days! Huge 305 fan. Keep up the brilliant work
I wish I had a fraction of your know how with cars..always a joy to watch you bring these vehicles back to life 👍👍👍👍
Very entertaining Al, thanks.
Bought a 305 he says, my immediate thought was for the floorpan to fix the van! Wrong! Well it actually sounds sweet once it was running. Amazing that people park cars up and leave them for 30 odd years. Great vid Al.
Original plan was for the floor pans !! That might have changed and I think I’ve found some new ones
Quality viewing Al top class !!!!!!
Well that is just fantastic. A man after my own heart. Delighted to see that. Nothing like witnessing an abandoned hedgehog coming back to life. Fair play.
You absolutely great with your work 👏 👍 ❤
Wow what a find! My dad was a Peugeot dealer when these were new, he's always said they were quite good, would love to see it sorted!! 👌👍
Always a joy to watch you Al, whatever you are doing! 🤣
Blimey an early 204 engined pre 1984 facelift 305 estate! Ace!! 👍👍
Another little gem saved! Always liked those Peugeot interiors.
One of my favourite videos of the week. Been watching you back catalogue too, really enjoying the channel, definitely one of my favourites.

Another superb will it start video from you, 👍👍
Presentation by the " New Sting " 😂
great content good to see the car run after 30 odd years love your work mate
just love the videos and the wiltshire acent but most of what you say is lost because your microphone need to be replaced for a better one.. thanks alan,
Awesome v log never thought you'd get that going again , needs a tickle with the welder & clear coat the rest would look good as a ratty style wagon
Great stuff again Al
Great channel AL, really like your videos , could watch a lot more, very interesting
Such a lovely car, the 305 estate. And as an extra a Peugeot J5 van. I like those almost as much as the old Mercedes vans (Dusseldorfer and Bremer).
Incredible!
Be great to see what you do with this old pug Al 👀👍👍
Wow what a beautiful Car congratulations getting it going sounds great
Great episode .
Another great video has always al 👍
I just love these video's.
Top mechanic.
Only you Al, only you 👍
Brilliant video al, its alive!👍
Good wan, out with the petrol heart and in with a 1.9xud, class job, comfy seats , used to drive them years ago in van form, great find.
Xud won't fit the mk.1 engine bay chassis.. the mk.2 305s were heavily modified to take the xud.. mice idea though.
Al I've just discovered your channel and this is a candidate for a patina restoration. Someone who has the time could make it into a decent little runner. Good video bud.
Indeed Wes re on it, the Palme is to hit the festival of the unexceptional next year. No paint work will be done it’s staying just the way it is👍
Great video as always, would be a lovely restoration project this I hope so Anyways. Until the next one 👌
Another excellent video.
Absolutely cracking!
Having a clear out he says…whilst instantly replacing the camper with another long term project you’ll likely never have a chance to do 🤣 - I bet your mrs just rolls her eyes now lol
you out done yourself again Al , the moment you said it turns by hand it was a dead cert it was gonna run , this old stuff just dont ever seam to fail clean the carb ,tweek the points and it will run , top quality video as always just the sounds a bit rubbish at times but hey ho thanks for the content and the giggles
See why they loved these in North Africa, particularly the diesel ones. Bombproof simple engineering that works. “Self lightening” got me going again😂😊
The headliner is still better than my MK5 Golf. 😞
Al 6D Diesels, is there no vehicle on planet earth that you can’t throw a battery on and wave your spanner’s at, give a squirt of the old go go juice and it’s alive? Don’t matter it’s condition, the amount of years it’s been neglected or even if a few parts are missing guaranteed you’ll get it running. Love your knowledge on anything engine related. Keep on entertaining us with your videos.
Awesome, rarity! may your fan belt forever turn the corner :-)
My dad had the saloon one in 1987 it was two years old .he never had it long .it over heated badly. the radiator and water pump went at same time. he couldn't find those parts anywere in the UK. they weren't that common back then .he sold it to young guy that had rusted out one ready with parts lol
Hired a 305 for a few days back in the 80’s, I remember it as a very comfortable car, nice to drive too. Covered around 300 miles in 4 days.
The break 305's rear suspension was amazing.
Looks like a great project for someone as i think it may just sit in the yard awaiting your attention like so many other projects im not having a dig or oat iv just got my sensible head on today PS loving the content cheers bud 👏👏👌👌🤝🤝👍🏻👍🏻
Good cars very good engine
Fab vid Al great job mate!
Firm my dad worked for ran a fleet of 305s. Dad someone negotiated a Sierra, but it wasn't unknown for a 305 to turn up occasionally while the Sierra was being serviced/fixed.
They seemed so old fashioned to me (in the late 80s) and the old boy hated them. I think they were C/D Reg 305 GRDs
Fantastic stuff.. another great vid..
5:26 facial expressions cracked me up 😂
Said before Al can start anything....well do ne..Great vid
Amusing video as always !. An interesting find. I thought it was good to hear the engine suddenly crank much faster on the same battery supply - possible the starter motor brushes has finally met the commutator properly ?!. Keep up the good work Al.
Spot on Al 👍
Brilliant video very funny 😂
Had a saloon one back in about 87 while my Sd1 was off the road ,, poped a drive shaft doing wheel spins as you did back then ,it had the yellow headlights
Love the channel Al ,,, 👍
Al does it again, well done Sir!
Brilliant
Couldn't hear what you were saying mate, but gud job on getting it fired up.👍
Great video but i dont do pugs now everyone ive had the cylinder heads always went so i stay away from them now due to that fact,The clylinder heads are verry weak and keep going..anyways rhanks for sharing and see you in your next video.
Can’t wait for Sunday to arrive. 😂
Another great entertaining video.(My wife doesn’t get it).
Al I enjoy every episode you do you brighten my day when it's all a bit shite...
Do you buy in any vans or only German stuff for resale...
We are builders based in suffolk and over the next few months we changing some of the fleet and I was wondering if you would be interested in our vans as you seem to keep old vans going giving them a new lease of life...
They may be no good but I'm reaching out to see if you are interested.
If so then message me and I could do a walk round video before you take a trip the do have some issues but not tin worm or super lightening features more just mechanical stuff and looking at your videos they would be a breeze...
On a different note thanks again for the heads up on the Ford Dover cav pump issue it now works flawlessly..
Best regards
Simon
Ok fella always worth a look drop me an email alhemsley@hotmail.com 👍
What are we going to do in this country when we run out of top mechanics like you Al. Not many about who would have got that started 👍👍
Ah we’ll all have electric cars …. Don’t worry that won’t be a rubbish and world ruining idea !!! 👍
A right royal french job, from the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, Furze Platt...
Extreme optimism
Great video. You could do with a microphone buddy.
Fair play love the videos have a similar car that has been lying for 34 years not started was pulled from headge to,its a vw 412 LE 1.7 fuel injection 😂
That’s a rare beats fella 👍
Yea she is 1.7 fuel injection need to find parts for it tho not shure we're tho grate videos btw👍
Please save it. I have a huge soft spot for a 305 sr. Dad bought one, from that very dealer, and the building still stands but now a bmw bike dealer. Could it be a sole survivor.
Love it!
Excellent
Al I tried giving you a ring today , their are 3 Mercedes engines up the unit wear I work been stored for years v8 petrol, 4 cylinder petrol , and a 4 cylinder derv with box on it , we will be weighing them in soon, I did take some pics
