A great Waterfall Painting for Beginners is Deep Forest Falls originally by Bob Ross. This is my version with a few rays of sunshine peeking through the bushes.
I've used Bob Ross oil paints for this tutorial and list all the materials down below to help you get started with your own Bob Ross waterfall oil painting.
I painted on a DIY practice canvas made with lining paper ( listed below ) and used a DIY paper palette made from Reynolds Freezer Paper (listed below)

Once again I love your paintings and look forward to seeing them every time you publish a new one. In this case, the rocky cliffs and ledges are truly perfection. I know the technique is the same as doing highlights on mountains with a light touch and letting the paint “ break”, but there’s something magical as to how yours turn out. Thanks for another great tutorial.

Hi Paul, another beauty! Love the waterfall and how full it is and how deeply you set it in the forest. And while I know that oils dry slowly, I had no idea you could just rub out streaks and bits with your finger. My acrylics are never that forgiving! Splendid tutorial! 🤗

Wow, this is so nice! Like Bob Ross, you make it look so easy. The techniques are clearly explained so I may have to try this one.
Thanks for stopping by again Diane 😃 Like most things a little practice goes a long way. Just take your time and have fun. Its a very forgiving painting and if all else goes wrong simply wipe off the happy accidents and try again. The gesso is tough so don't be scare to have a few goes. 🤗🤗🎨🎨🥰

Happy to help Kipp. Using oil paint for transparent glazing is something I love to do. Its addictive once you get started. And if you have a happy accident simply wipe it off and have another go! 😄😄

I've never touched my paints since my father force me to quit art school after matric.. (1991)
After discovering Bob Ross on UA-cam I've got courage and start painting again.. I think I've tried that technique few years ago (link above) it's very bad but I loved it if u give it a look
I was the same. After I left school it was time to get a job and painting took a back seat for many years. BUT I always knew I would start again. The link has been blocked ( UA-cam policy ).
