I just like to listen to him talking while he painted.
I love every one of his paintings, especially number one
Too many to count
About that voice ..... I heared he was a drill instructeur before the painting fame
I mean can you really choose one as a favorite? They're all good!
Doing a show for the colorblind as a painter was the most wholesome thing an artist has done.
That gray painting was super cool!
Really appreciated that sentiment and the comparison to Mr. Rogers, as they were both so great at responding to and having amazing compassion towards their differently-abled viewers. We were not worthy. I miss him so much!
Colorblind person: I can't see color, so I can't paint.
.
Bob Ross: Hold my brush.
That one made me choke up watching the netflix documentary
Yeah, that bothered me too. Otherwise good stuff.
Bob Ross had such a calming, soothing voice, and you could tell that he was passionate about his art. Thank you for sharing your joy of painting with us all, Bob. 💖🎨
It's actually pretty amazing that his voice was so calming, especially when you discovered that he'd been a drill instructor while he was in the military
@John Wright likewise
He would literally spend 2 days filming a whole season. He was that passionate about painting
I watch reruns of his show just to help me go to sleep because listening to his voice as he creates a masterpiece in a matter of minutes is just so soothing. I don’t if that would be considered ASMR by kids these days but Joy of Painting reruns work better than any sleep aid I’ve ever used
@@LoneWolf1493 for some reason, I don't find that all that surprising
Nothing is more soothing than watching and listening to Bob Ross. I sure do miss him!! You chose excellent on your picks!!
He was ASMR before it was trendy
That spatula, as they've been calling it, is a Pallet Knife
Thank you! I almost had to stop the video with her calling it a spatula!!
It bugged the heck out of me too
@@psully0891 it clearly shows that the narrator of this video doesn't know shit about painting
If the researchers had actually watched any of these, they'd have heard Bob Ross calling it a palette knife
@@karlsmith2570 or maybe they wan't it to be intelligible to the average person.
Cared for injured and sick animals growing up, served his country in the Air Force, and soothed us all with his voice and talent. What a guy.
Didn't he used to hunt animals though? Sure I read that somewhere
@@Michael-cz6obhe may have done, but he preached an anti hunting message later in his career.
My mother and I used to watch Bob Ross together when I was a small child. She passed when I was 11. Every time I hear his voice I think of her. Thank you for the timeless memories Bob, and God bless ❤️ 🎨 🖌️🖼️
"We don't make mistakes here only happy accidents"-Bob Ross
The one quote that left me wondering...
The dislikes are the people who couldn't see the like button because of the amount of tears because of how good these are.
Yeah let’s go with that explanation
I thought it was because of the repetition of the word spatula.
People who dislike this video just made a happy little accident 😊
They not old enough to know who he is
@@DerSpazzvogel lol good one
He makes these paintings look so hyper-realistic.
In 25 minutes.
@@TheRobertw82 There are a ton of amazing painters and artists out there but his sheer talent level and speed was unbelievable. All while not even really paying attention to it completely lol.
I was inspired to paint a landscape after watching him while I was puppy sitting for my mom when she had her knee replaced. Its because of him that I was able to create a a beautiful scenic painting for my mom to have in her room while she recovered from surgery and of course she still has it!
Watching Bob Ross was like watching Beethoven compose music.
And Beethoven was stone deaf when he did his Ninth Symphony.
Agreed, it was completely and utterly theraupric and soothing.
Excellent analogy
Beethoven didnt steal from another composer. Bob Ross stole everything from Bill Alexander.
I discovered Bob in 1994, and attended several painting classes with his certified instructors. I also painted several paintings on my own. Although it took me much longer than the 30 min it took him, I thoroughly loved it. I feel certain Bob turned more people onto painting than any other artist in history.
He’s so loved because he took his great talent and warmly invited everyone to share and enjoy what was created. That’s such a humble and graceful act. 🤍
All of them. RIP Bob Ross
I watched his show as a child. But only as an adult can I truly appreciate the paintings he made.
This has to be the hardest list to construct. He had so many masterpieces made in 25 min each. The man was a gift to humankind.
I always loved the sound it'd makes when he'd beat the paint off his brush. It was like listening to ASMR. 🎧
Mine was the knife. When he mixed with it on the Pallet and When he pressed it into the canvas. Bob Ross was low key the OG of ASMR
@@TheRobertw82 so glad I’m not the only one who thinks that. For real though, I’ve nearly fallen asleep many times just listening to his voice as he paints
Wait just a minute... He would do WHAT with his brush??
@@oliverjackson6992 he’d periodically dip his paintbrush into paint thinner, shake it off, and “beat the devil out of it” against one of the legs of his easel so that he can reuse the brush for different colors. Two reasons why he used that technique: 1) it was very effective at getting any remaining paint out of the brush, and 2) he got a kick out of annoying the crew members behind the camera
Bob Ross was a soothing, gentle genius. Thank you, best, list, Ever!
Bob Ross was & still is the nicest man on Earth.
One of, don't forget about the world's friend, Fred Rogers
Certainly explains why he hated being a drill sergeant.
That "spatula" is called a pallet knife.
THANK YOU! Every time they said "spatula" it physically hurt.
Indeed. My wife and I screamed, "IT'S A KNIFE!" every time the word "Spatula" was used.
So that's what kind of knife it is. He never called it a pallet knife, just a knife.
@@Chaos89P Yeah, it's what's used to mix colors on the pallet. Hence the name pallet knife.
Did anybody correct her after the video was finished
Bob Ross was such a huge part of my upbringing, I was born in '96 so his show was sadly already over, but I remember that almost every night before bed my parents would put on a VHS tape of his or if I was lucky, two even, and let me watch him for a while and I'd be so amazed and soothed by his voice, personality and work that I'd go to bed feeling in perfect harmony, I'm told they found he would work like magic on me when I was a baby and wouldn't sleep, they'd only be able to lull me by either taking me out on a drive and letting the vibes of the car put me to sleep or by just turning on the TV to Bob Ross and he'd calm me down. It's actually because of him that in my teens I got into drawing and painting
I miss you Bob, I know you're getting a well earned peaceful rest, and you'll forever live in my heart ❤😔
Fun fact the Joy of Painting had a previous incarnation called the Magic of Oil Painting hosted by Bob's mentor Bill Alexander it ran in the early 70's to 1975
Should’ve been called the Bob Ross Show
The guy that hosted that original show had a fallen out with Ross. If I remember correctly
@@kershabeaver3312 how sad
It wasn’t actually a different incarnation. The two shows were very similar, but Ross’ show became far more popular and Alexander never forgave Ross for “stealing” the methodology and being more successful.
We need a Bob Ross marathon to soothe our souls during these troubled times.
Catch him on Pluto. There's a Bob Ross channel in the Classic TV block.
If you have a channel called "CreateTV," you can catch The Best of the Joy of Painting at 11:30 ET/10:30 CT at the very least.
@@Chaos89P I do watch Create :)
His artwork is so Bob Ross. One of a kind.
He wants a true expert in his craft and I loved each of his paintings
Did it make anyone else nuts that she kept calling the pallet knife a "spatula"?
Yes
Absolutely!
It physically hurt to keep hearing Spatula. I almost rewatched the video JUST to count, but didn't want to hear it even one more time.
@@Craxin01 I counted about 4 times.
Yes!!!!!!!
Good memories I remember watching Bob Ross in the mornings growing up as a child with my dad
every week end there's a twitch channel streaming all of the episodes
Okay... imagine Bob Ross, and Mr. Rogers. Holy God's Mother! How has that never happen!?!
The world would not have been able to handle the love and compassion! It would have been too beautiful and blinded us all.
This man understood that to bring out the full ability of your brush, you must _become_ your brush. That hair...
How are you everywhere?
Love and admire this artist ...he started painting to help his post traumatic stress disorder and he brought much joy over the years to many living rooms. We still enjoy him on tv ...
I LOVE Bob Ross. I often find myself wishing I could live inside one of his paintings. So beautiful and peaceful. I was so heartbroken when he left us.
Me too
Huh? Top 10? What do you mean top 10?
Every single one of his paintings is incredible
Agreed, I simply couldn't pick a favourite, they were all incredible.
This is sooooo relaxing, I remember when I was little my mom going to work at night and my dad sleeping from day work and i would be awake at night watching PBS going out and seeing bob ross painting, it was soooo relaxing that I watched the entire process of his painting and later sleeping happily after another show came on. What a legend that is bob ross which has inspired me to do art a few years later
_"There's no mistakes, only happy accidents"_
*Boss Ross*
3:23 Campfire I never saw that one before. It's beautiful!
Every painting Bob did was impressive. He did every one in a single take in about 25 minutes.
Pure passion and artistic ability and generosity to add. Bob Ross and Mr. Rogers are true legends.
"Lets make a happy little cloud, lets make some happy little trees, there are no limits here"
-Bob Ross
His paintings are literal utopian visualizations. They’re so stunning.
Now this brings back memories of simply listing to him as he talked us threw what he was doing, and see the result at the end. I may have not watch him that much, but it was always a joy to see the results even if I cam in somewhere in the middle of the episode.
I remember some people would sheepishly admit to falling asleep while watching Bob paint. He was just as happy to have relaxed someone into a nap as he was to have encouraged them to pick up a brush.
Ross,Roger's and Burton. The world needs more kind people like them.
I always tend to go to "royal majesty" that big dramatic mountain with that cliffside and rushing waterfall is always so lovely to see, the painting truly lives up to the title, I hope to paint it one day soon.
Bob Ross is the main reason why I love art as much as I do. His paint techniques and skill is amazing
His voice is so claiming
@@kershabeaver3312 yes definitely that too
Boss Bob don't get near enough respect and recognition for the iconic figure that he is.
We need some got dang statues PDQ. The future needs to know of this man!
Boss Ross and his 2-inch brush blow me away every time. His works should be on public display for all the enjoy.
Amazing 🙌
Great work! !
I remember watching Bob Ross when I was a kid on my local PBS channel.
Bob Ross was the Thomas Kincaid of his era. he painted some of the most
beautiful landscapes ever!!
The world now is longing for a Bob Ross!
Check out Kevin hill. He paints a lot like him and sounds like him too.
I painted some of these myself. Started painting as hobby almost a year ago because of Bob.
I can see a lot of people doing painting during the lockdown and stuff and just relaxing and listening to Bob Ross
I loved watching the TV show as a child!😍
Every Saturday
every week end there's a twitch channel streaming all of the episodes
I have been into Bob Ross for a while. I tried #3 as well as Mountain Reflections with mixed results. Painting in acrylic makes it a little tough. Fun though!
Was working the graveyard shift in the early 80s. When I got home in the morning there wasn't much else to do, but I always looked forward to Bob Ross's show.
That was 11 minutes and 35 seconds of pure serenity. As an artistic person, myself, I have absolute respect for the master and love for the beauty he created. Thank you for this...
Would have been for me, but every time they said "spatula" it physically hurt.
@@Craxin01 Yes, that was the sour note!!
Let’s not forget that this dude was a drill sergeant
mhm sure was ^_^
and missing a finger
@@nuohk Most wouldn't know, it's the hand holding the palette. It wasn't the whole finger though, just half.
It would have been a privilege to see how Bob's painting techniques would have evolved over the years. 💔 ❤
If you ever wanted to really chill out and relax on a Saturday afternoon, all you had to do was find the Bob Ross show and just listen to his voice as he painted. It was so calming.
This man sure had an awesome talent
Watch Mojo this is one of your best thank you. 😊
I cannot choose, they are all so amazing!
Fantastic video. I usually enjoy your channel but this was was really great!
As a kid during my summer break from school I would always watch Bob Ross
Bob Ross was life. I used to watch his show back in the day on PBS. This man had talent. he served his country from 1961 to 1981 in the Air Force. Watching him was very relaxing for me at times. And he’s a meme. I miss him so.
Cool 😎
RIP Bob Ross. He was a BIG inspiration to many young artists. Including me.
Mr.ROSS, definitely put the gentle in gentleman. Rest in peace Mr. Bob Ross.

I really really really love Bob Ross’ work ❤️
miss Bob ,glad he's still being remembered 20 plus years after his passing RIP
Great artist, one of a kind truly.
Nothing but pure talent.
The most chill episode from watch mojo😎🎨
It's not a spatula, it's a painters knife.
AKA Palette Knife, typically used to mix paints on the palette. The fact that he could paint with it better than some could with a whole kit of brushes is just amazing.
@@Craxin01 If watching The Best of the Joy of Painting taught me only one thing, it's to never count out the pallet knife as another "brush." But, let's face it, he taught us a lot of tricks.
@@Chaos89P I'd say techniques, not tricks, but otherwise I agree.
@@Craxin01 I was actually thinking "tips," but "techniques" works a lot better.
@@Chaos89P :)
I enjoy to sit in my garage and smoke while I watch Bob Ross videos. I love his work.
Funny this just got posted, as I just started doing art for the first time in nearly 30 years again! Not surprising black canvases are on this list, as I think it really helps colors pop, and is it my default canvas color to go to 🤙
Bob was a blessing and an angel and a magnifisant artist
I love his phrase "happy accidents" Very cool painter. May he rest in peace ❤
Pablo Picasso has something to say about this...
@John Wright Ross won, hands down. Pablo got his happy little ass beat.
He makes it look so easy.
I used to watch his work back at high school while I'm in art class.
It's not a spatula..
I know. If I remember correctly it's called a painters knife
My favorite bob ross painting is the hidden lake.
Every Bob Ross painting is beautiful
