Everything Wrong With Brave In 13 Minutes Or Less

- For some reason, Disney mixed up their standard princess formula with Brother Bear, and shoved it in Pixar's direction to force them to make a film. And what we got is... this.
Next Week: 2 superhero sins you've been waiting for.
Remember, no movie is without sin! Which movie's sins should we expose next?!

Lol are we not going to point out the fact Merida had to bribe her brothers into saving their own mother?
more like to keep there mom's transformation a secret
Echo Thundor the same thing u nob she would have been killed
ADD 3 SINS FOR EACH BROTHER
Wow true
ow thats messed up
Having to clean up your own mess is actually a good lesson for a Disney movie.
Wow your right
Just not THIS one in particular
Once again. This is why Brave is my not-so-secret guilty pleasure.
I think he gave the point is that the movie was going for a warrior princess fighting her way to her goal. Not clean her own mess. You’re not wrong though. Also Mulan is the most badass, humble, remarkable warrior queen that Disney has and will ever bring out
Pixar*
Also, I want to add another sin: when Merida cooks that salmon, she serves it in a fern leaf. Specifically, that's a bracken fern leaf. Bracken ferns are poisonous. Way to poison your Mum, Merida!
XD
XD
Actually bears are immune to most poisons
Again!
I mean she already turned her into a bear so why not poison her
Take off 5 sins for everyone's amazing accent
I'm Coolio Literally the first time Disney had all actors speak in the accent that they are all supposed to be speaking in.
The Scottish accent ahh
I don't like having one
Its VirtualWorld yeah same i was always taught to not speak with one and it makes me really sad because people think im english or american
Anonymous Gay
If it’s okay to ask, why were you taught not to speak with a Scottish accent?
Pretty Rat basically the English oppression of Scottish cultures ( not unlike the sami people) like shaming the accent and traditions it was extremely frowned upon and that has been passed down through my family most of my family has started embarrassing the culture and languages again and speaking with their natural accents which is really nice
As a Scottish person, I would say this film is completely and irresponsibly.... accurate.
lol XD
this channel was fun when it did bad movies, and even that is old now. I get the joke but at this point it's just like, I dunno, complaining. I'm done
same
this is ALSO coming from a PC Gamer scottish
yeah I agree as a Scottish person and heir to the throne
I do archery. Trust me trying to shoot a bow with long wild hair like that is a recipe for disaster.
But if you can pull it off it looks dramatically badass. Just ask Artemis from Young Justice
Robert Wimms I have found a brotheren.
I do love archery and have like 20 arrows and a bunch of bows, but I haven't done any in awhile. Probably not since June and I have two dogs so I had to be careful when I was shooting. Plus, the target my dad gave me was thick styrofoam and my aim still isn't great. I try aiming like some anime characters do and that's probably stupid. It's hard for me to have both eyes open too.
Lukiel666 I’d like to do archery
Lukiel666 but that's just how badass she is
1:39: That's not a sin. Horses actually do that. It's called wallowing or dust bathing.
robonaught I very honestly didn’t know horses did this, thanks 👍
My horse does that
Cute
Only pigs do that!

Fun fact. In the mother’s tapestry you see Merida with a braid signaling her mother wanting her daughter to be exactly like her. But in the end when they show the new tapestry, it shows Merida with her messy hair meaning her mother accepts her daughter for who she is and accepts she can’t change her
Also in the end the queen’s hair is pinned back but loose and flowy showing how she’s lightened up thanks to Merida, but she’s still the queen
A little girl poisons her mom until she gets what she wants...the movie

Disney movies in general seem to have something against mothers. They're almost always horrible or dead.

Im scottish and those wear the highland game not pointless log tossing, its traditional games we play.
He was saying it was pointless because that’s not the game she picked. Put your race card away
@@bennu547 The point is that in such a situation, with a social sporting event - what we would call a "games" - even if the "main contest" were to be archery or something else, it would take place in the context of a celebratory "games". The most common and most famous alternative activity in context of such is indeed "tossing the caber", called "pointless log tossing" here and it 100% makes sense for it to be involved culturally.
The point is

I'm guessing the queen must be American, since she has the right to bear arms
eyyyyyyyyy
Or since they're English, maybe they're bare arms?
This is becoming unbearable.
+Drew McKinney Fur sure
She's also black
Eleanor's bear tendencies are not random. It is expressed that she changes when she comes around food; going crazy with the fish and with the apples while looking for needle+thread. Also, fixing the tapestry was not the cure to the spell, it was just the symbolism of their relationship being fixed. That's why Eleanor didn't turn back until after Merida poured her heart out.

@@samkelly4132 So what are Menhirs? This sounds interesting.
The only thing I know about Menhirs is from pokemon, and in the games they were used to absorb the life energy of the pokemon to fuel an ultimate weapon, which turned them to stone, which I think is accurate considering one of the theories of their use is that they used to do human sacrifices there
It was solved by her mending the bond back with her mum....not by the picture.
It was symbolism
mhm
How did she “mend the bond” though? Her mom went through a ton of hardship and pain and fear (caused by Merida drugging her) and then Merida just mocked her the whole movie. Oh but then she cried at the end so it’s all okay, she’s changed lol. I was so angry at this movie, it had so much potential to be good but Merida is so unlikeable and selfish
@@LethallxVanity i think at the end it wasn't about her crying and stuff but that she actually changed and became truly empathetic and understanding or something bc she thought her mum was basically gone forever. and all that time before, she instead was more worried about understanding the riddle, fixing the picture, trying to protect her mum etc

*What I expected when I first saw the trailers and posters of this film: A funny animated fantasy film about a warrior princess who embarks on an epic quest across her kingdom to show her courage and change her fate while facing supernatural dangers based on celtic mythology.
*What I actually got: "Turning Red + Brother Bear" set in medieval Scotland... Nice graphics and a cute mother-daughter relationship, but honestly, it feels just too empty, short and full of wasted potential. I was expecting something more like "Mulan + Legend of Zelda", with more adventure and fantasy stuff... I think that Wolfwalkers (a Cartoon Saloon movie) is what Brave should have been from the beginning, it has more emotion, fantasy and it didn't felt empty or short.
Merida is the only Disney princess to have an accent correlating with where she’s from.
Literally, it's because "Scottish people are just average white people with no culture or language so we have to give them an accent" but frozen is set in 19th century Norway and all of them speak like 21st century Americans? Hello?

Ok but the scene where Merida shoots the arrow straight through the other one and right through the target made me cry. She shot it with so much conviction and skill it went straight through the target. And idk why but it was super emotional
Dude go outside and touch some grass. There’s plenty of emotional moments in this movie and that ain’t it.
Also, the spell did do what Merida was after, in its own weird way.
Merida complained throughout that her mom wouldn't listen. The gives her mom a cake that turns her into a bear so she can't talk back, thereby FORCING her to listen.
And since mom's not used to being a bear, she has to rely on Meridas hunting skills to survive in the woods, something she originally wrote off as unimportant compared to politics.
Merida's lesson was that there's a time and place to make your point, but doing what she did wasn't it. If you remember, much of the movie was her swearing it wasn't her fault, and by the end, she admits it.

TheBlockBreakers it’s a fucking amazing movie, behind mulan definitely
Ugh no this movie is so frustrating! The animation is amaaazing and I like the few songs they have in it, but Merida is so cruel and selfish and treats her mother horribly. Drugging her mom and then mocking her for not knowing how to be a bear, and she has no character arc whatsoever throughout the movie. It would be one thing if they had made her mom still be able to talk as a bear, so they could have actual conversations and learn about each other and come to understand and respect each other and grow closer because of it. But because they couldn’t really communicate with each other, the end of the movie where they’re suddenly bonded is totally unearned and not believable at all. Merida was just an asshole the entire movie and then got everything she wanted anyway. I wanted this movie to be good SO MUCH and instead I just felt so sorry for the mom the whole time, it made me want to cry. I hate this movie.
Am I the only one who can't hear will-o-the-wisps without immediately thinking about the Pokémon move?
HAhahaha no will 'o wisps are apart of celtic mythology, they're fae.Depending on the area depends on what they do. In ireland they're the dead and each color represents a different type of dead. Don't quote me on this but, white is a mother and child, blue is a more mature child, and red is a man. I can't recall what they're in all the celtic cultures. But ik that the "fae" are deadly or more brutal in ireland and more harmless in wales and celtic myth would become more infused with christianity turning the fae more demon like.Idk much about scottish myth but i think they follow celtic myths because you see a lot of what look to be celtic crosses in the movie.

The tapestry itself had nothing to do with her mother turning back into a human. It was Merida's last minute owning up too what she'd done and apologizing (ie: "Mending the bond torn by pride"). The tapestry was symbolic, sure, but it really had nothing to do with the transformation.
One of my favorite parts of the movie is when Elenor scolds Merida for putting her weapon on the table, and Merida goes “Ugh, Mum...it’s just my bow!” The accent just makes it sound so funny 😂

Let's add a sin for the fact that Merida's brothers needed PAYMENT to help SAVE their MOTHER. What kinda f**kry are you pulling, Disney/Pixar!?!?
its called a boy's or boys's ego.somehow i find it cool
The scenery in this movie is freaking amazing
Holy Cr#p! I just notice something how come the king didn't smell the three bear sons that counts as a sin too! . I'm surprised I didn't notice that until now!😅
He smells by choice. If he didn't think their was anything else in the castle he wouldn't smell.
You missed the most important sin... THERE ARE NO BEARS IN SCOTLAND.
Aye now.
there used to be bears in britain. They died out.
There were bears in Scotland. However they died out in the 9th or 10th century.
During this time period It was different

SIN SPIRITED AWAY
yes!!!
+Stefany Kulcheski Djuba Spirited Away has no sins.
yes
+Stefany Kulcheski Djuba why exactly? For the challenge of it?
Nathan Schubert Yep
After I first saw this movie as a little kid I spoke with my best impression of her accent for like two weeks straight, even at school. My parents and friends thought it was super weird but I denied that I was speaking with it.
I thought the sentence was going to be
"Unbearable"
The accent and Scottish culture is really good...
Pink bunny because the people who voiced merida is actuly Scottish I think
would be kinda shite if they didn't gets Scotts to do it, then again they get people to put on russian accents
Pink bunny $
They went though the time to make all the clans actually proper clans. You can actually be part of mackintosh
Oh really I'm offended
Lol, Mother Bear
😅
What a load of keech! This film is fabulous. If Merida wiz a drink she'd be Irn Bru! Phenomenal!
Don't be so butthurt just because you can't stand the fact that not everyone loves Brave or Merida enough for them to be overly sensitive or defensive with it, or that you're too blind to see that she is a terrible main character who takes no responsibility for anything until the movie is almost over. She's a disgrace to Scottish lore.
@@Disneyfan82 are you Scottish? Not every girl wants to find prince charming, settle down and have babies. Most disney princesses are what was expected of women. What responsibilities do snow white, cinderella etc take?
Merida doesn't want that. She's headstrong, knows her own mind and a good role model for young girls. Girls don't "have to play house" anymore. I gave that crap the two fingers years ago!
@@marleybu7984 I don't know to be Scottish to know what I'm talking about, unlike you who still can't stand not everyone in the world liking Merida. Good role model my fucking ass, I don't give a shit what you think the other princesses lack which Merida doesn't, which they do not as you stupidly think. Only idiots call her a good role model and defend her selfish, bratty actions that put everyone in danger and takes no responsibility for it until the last minute. She disrespects her mother and acts like she is in the right to do whatever she wants without consequence. What you say makes no sense at all.
I make no sense? Your first line makes no sense. And you know what? I don't give a fuck what you think either. I don't care that you or anyone else hates the film. I'd rather a girl has a mind of her own than be brainwashed by stupid disney films into thinking they need to have a fucking man in their lives. No they don't. It's the 21st century. We don't put up with that shit anymore! Yes Merida is a brat at times but nothing compared to the real bratty "daddies little princesses" about these days, who are usually from the US and throw tantrums if they don't get the latest mobile or whatever.
@@Disneyfan82 well maybe she's a human teenager who makes mistakes and learns from them throughout the film therefore becoming a better person- BUT OH NO I CANT SAY THAT YOURE RIGHT IM SO SORRY 🤭😢
Interesting Fact:
I live in Glasgow and I go to one of the many Gaidhlig/Gaelic Schools here. My school decided to take the opening song to brave, rewrite the lyrics to things like 'respect for all students' or 'be mindful to all' and then after that they converted it all into Gaidhlig for us to sing at school assemblies.
And now it's stuck in my head forever.
Oh my god who are you? WE DID THAT AT MY SCHOOL I MIGHT KNOW YOU LMAO THAT SONG WAS TORTURE
The older I get the more I realize that Mulan is an absolutely fantastic movie
blahthebiste Let's see how much sins it gets. :)
blahthebiste same
blahthebiste hi
XD I just watched Mulan today. Your right. Its great.
Fun fact: in the original draft of Mulan, the writers had her join the army to escape an arranged marriage. But then they changed it cuz they realized that was selfish and stupid...i guess Pixar's writers didn't reach the same conclusion..
Isn't the actual legend about Will o' the Wisps that they are spirits that lure travelers to their deaths by pretending to be lantern fires?
Yeah
Yes
Yup they drown people ;)
Also like to point out “this giant-ass bear somehow snuck up on EVERYONE .” Scene happens all the time lol. I live in Alaska and you’d be surprised how a thousand pound animal can silently walk around in the woods. Multiple people have been mauled and killed by accidentally walking into or come upon a bear.
I dont really understand why so many people don't like this movie. It's simple, funny, dramatic, and it has some really heartfelt scenes that many people can relate too and a strong message.
IF YEH HAD A CHANCE TO CHANGE YER FATE WOUD YEH?
Neh.
If ye had the chance to change yer feet, would ye. -2000 sins if you get that reference.
+Padraic Evans If your fate is to change your fate, doesn't that destroy the purpose of changing it?
IF YEH HAD A CHANCE TEH JIZZUM IN TEH BABEH HOLE, WOULD YEH?
+Padraic Evans If you had a chance to eat my sandwiches, WOULD YA!?
Everything wrong with Tron and Tron: Legacy
yes! please
Pleeeeeeeeease
+tundraportal That would be everything except the SFX
i feel like the only reason theywould sin those would be if tron 3 was actually happened which nobody has confirmed a date anytime soon for
+Dalton Riser They were supposed to film back in October but after the failure of Tomorrowland, disney cancelled Tron 3 which breaks my heart.
The car/truck isn't actually a sin. It's actually really important in the Pixar theory. The theory says she's from the future, and it makes a lotta sense cause the're other future things in there.
No matter how many times I watch people dissect the shit out of this movie, I will never stop loving it.
