About sin #6: ants actually do get lost like that. They'll wander around until they find a scent trail, which often leads them into a death spiral.
Yeah, exactly because that interrupts the trail of pheromones. Anyone who's ever tried drawing a line in the dirt with a stick in front of a trail of ants saw that.
But...but these ants clearly have human eyes. So...so why should that possibly matter?

This movie was actually inspired by "The Ant and the Grasshopper"; it was spun out of the idea that the grasshopper could simply take the food, and the ant wouldn't be able to stop them.
If that was accurate, ants are the ones who should be feared cuz in the animal kingdom, ants are the most dominant insects of all

0:13 I don't think the river was supposed to be quite as dried up in the original script, but Pixar probably didn't have the budget/technology to animate flowing water. I'm guessing that's also why those seeds disappeared when they fell in the puddle. They were supposed to get washed away in the river.

Best thing about bugslife is the bloopers at the end. Laughed harder those 5 minutes then the entire movie. (personal favorite: The grasshopper having to redo that scene over and over again. Hilarious.)

What makes this movie work is the villain. I love the monologues that he gives. I love this villain so much that I know every line he says.

An adult grasshopper goes through the stages egg, nymph and adult, and has a lifespan of approximately one year.
Well there are multiple breeds of grasshopper and to be fair when doing a basic google search 2months is one of the answers.
It's a very broad definition of adult when you include egg.

The ant queen has to mate with one drone from a different colony of ants, then she has *limited* ant sperm to lay eggs with...
Workers constantly die off, new ones are constantly born slightly faster. When she runs out of sperm the majority of the colony dies, and the princesses fly off to do it all over again but with their own hill. Another thing, Dot couldn't be such a small ant without deformity. she'd be a larva if she was a baby.
And, her ant sister should have flown to make a new colony of her own by now instead of sitting around.

I don't want to be that one asshole who says this, but glowing mushrooms actually do exist. Look up Omphalotus olearius. They are sometimes blue colored just like the movie.
Here's a real sin: The fact that most of the worker and soldier ants are male in this movie, despite the fact that only the winged drones are male in real life. Workers, soldiers, queens, princesses (winged virgin queens) are always female. Speaking of female insects, most females of the insect world are larger than their male counterparts, which this movie rarely shows.

Everything wrong with “A Bug’s Life”: Princess Atta doesn’t accept that Flik is helping the colony and treats him like crap for his clumsiness.
And when she found out that Flik lied to the island, when in truth, Flik is trying to help the colony and cover up the fact that he mistakenly brought in clowns, she banished him for lying. (Or should I say “trying to help”?).
And when Flik returns, she doesn’t apologize to him for treating him like sh*t. And yet, she became queen at the end.
It’s all Princess Atta’s fault for treating Flik badly.
This is the plot of like all movies. Some stupid misunderstanding because these characters can't communicate like normal human beings. They're always like "bu..but...but wait, you don't understand...no, please listen!" when they should just be like "look stfu for 5 fucking seconds and let me explain ok"

the river island simple explanation: this is a dried out river arm. when a river is shaped in curves it can occur that the water breaks through at one point and connects with the water on the other side. creating a straight line again while the riverbed in the rest of the curve is simply left and it dries out.

I'm 100% certain it will be Jaws. I can't possibly think of anything else that fits both criteria. I'm really excited for this one. I fail to see anything wrong with that masterpiece, but no movie is without sin, I'm sure you'll find something. I hope you do the sequels too, you'll need about 30 minutes for each of them.

This was one of those movies where they'd purposefully make bloopers and stick them in at the end just for the fun of it. I miss things like that, I really do.
