Great video! I ordered an iBobber, and it's scheduled to show up tomorrow around noon. Gonna take my nephew out fishing in the evening, either on the Yakima River or the Columbia River (Tri Cities really is a fisherman's paradise, as the Snake River also meets nearby). My nephew introduced me to castable sonar (he has some cheaper version), and I had no idea. When I was growing up, sonar was VERY expensive, and only the rich seemed to have them, but it was for boats only. I had no idea sonar is now so compact you can cast it as a bobber. Pretty dang cool! Last time I did serious fishing was in the mid 1990s, so yeah, I'm way outta touch. Still using my mom's old pole (identical to my dad's, but she didn't like fishing), which is older than I am. Fiberglass rod with real cork handle. All these guys with fancy new rods always turn their heads and wonder where I got that rod, and for how much, 'cause they want it, lol! Fishing is such a great sport, and also a great way to put food on the table. I hope to catch something big enough to pan fry into a great meal using this iBobber. :) Getting kinda sick of catching tumbleweeds (no joke, tumbleweeds) and other people's cut lines. Hopefully I'll now know how deep these areas are.
I always get a laugh when people pronounce "crappie" as "craw-pee" instead of the original pronunciation, "crap-pee." As in "crappy." It originated, so I've been told, from fishermen looking to catch large mouth bass or other popular fish like walleye and pike, and when they reeled in the crappie, they often grunted out saying, "crap," because the crappie wasn't as desirable. So the term "crappy" stuck, and eventually was changed to "crappie" and pronounced weirdly so as to be more wholesome in polite company. Anyway, great video, and that looks like a nice place to fish! May your hook never return empty!
I've not heard of that etymology before. I've read that the common name (also spelled croppie or crappé), derives from the Canadian French crapet, which refers to many different fishes of the sunfish family.

From what I've learned, that is an accurate etymology of the crappie fish species, and to be more specific, the French-Canadian name for sunfish is crapet-soleil. A good fish story can be fun, though. 🎣😄 EDIT: Auto incorrect was at it again. Corrected.
Ibobbers are garbage. It was my first fish finder. They are For kids. I used it 3 times for 5 mins at a time. Deepers are the superior ones. You need to do a review on a deeper pro 2 or chirp 2. They beyond work
It really does work..the problem is seeing it on the phone when the sun is out....I like that it will tell you if you are at a good spot for fishing
