Theres a little more to it than that. You don't know the intent, the company could be acting maliciously and it may not have been a mistake. As an artist having something like this happen can open a can of worms and it's nothing short from concerning. Someone uses your work and you have to now invest time (and sometimes money) trying to figure out what action to take and it may even lead to getting legal advice and a lawsuit, something which no artist wants to be doing or may not even be able to afford. i used to walk into a store to find a game, now i walk into a game and find a store.. some of the realist sentence ive heard. every game is this now. gaming is just going downhill.
The worst thing about the DCV from a narrative perspective, is that they still to this day, build upon narrative pillars from content they have removed. The Red War, Forsaken, and all the seasons where Crow is featured/developed (3/4 of Beyond Light's seasons, and later seasons too) were used for as almost primary plot points for The Final Shape, yet NO one can play them anymore. Season of the Haunted introduced us (on screen) to Zavala's Wife and Son and uses that as a motivator for some of his actions in The Final Shape. The Hive have been a huge enemy since Y1 of Destiny 1, with the Cabal taking the limelight until Shadowkeep in Destiny 2. and yet one of the Three sisters of the Osmium court have only featured in removed seasonal content. Whereas the influence of both Oryx and Savathûn have been felt outside of their own expansions in both seasons AND other expansions. Lightfall's main villain made his debut in D2 Vanilla's raid; removed. He doesn't show up again, until Forsaken's Season of Opulence; removed and then disappears until a single mission you have to play over and over to get the full story, 2 years later, which until AFTER Lightfall had come out was removed. He's the main villain of Season of the Haunted, which as mentioned before is used for Zavala in The Final Shape, is also used as the sendoff and revelation of him being the primary villain of Lightfall (because they wanted to keep the Witness a mystery to reveal what it is in a cutscene during week 4 of a season, that has since been removed...) Oh, and Season of the Haunted, relied on knowing who Ghaul is, (D2 Vanilla; removed) knowing who Caitl is (D2 2x Seasons; 1 removed at the time Haunted was accessible) And whilst I did not play the first episode, I was one of the ones that left at the finale, knowing that it takes place on Nessus and involves a character that has not been mentioned or used or even thought of since 2017 in D2 vanilla, again removed, just shows that they're never going to change. They've been doing this for years, building upon content that will go away and only filling people in with a short 3-10 min video on "what happened" and then they scratch their heads at why they're not able to keep new players or re gain those that took breaks. It is at the point where it feels that if someone did not log in every week since 2018 then there is something that that they're missing from their "knowledge" and it's not like Destiny's story is that deep or complex, it's just broken up by business and bad technical decisions and that's a damn shame. People want to experience the narrative for themselves, not be told a story like it's bed time. The way the narrative is currently set up, it requires players to do homework, to watch videos of other people playing the game, and/or explaining the lore. It's probably the biggest reasons Halo 5's story was so bad (it was also just really bad) was that it decided to introduce characters, and events and plots from the books and comics, with no clear jumping in point from the previous game. But for Destiny's sake, these are things that were IN the game, people could have played them and experienced them, but no longer can. Then there is the fact that a lot of Destiny's story is built upon the first game which is locked as a console exclusive, and will be shut down sooner than you think, leaving the only accessible narrative of Destiny being the expansions from Shadowkeep to TFS (with all the huge holes in them from missing seasonal content) Anyway, a shorter compacted list of elements of the game that have been removed that still are relevant. *Knowing who Cayde-6 is and what happened to him* Destiny 1 _limited to console_ Destiny 2 Vanilla; removed D2 Forsaken; removed *Knowing who Crow is and his history/relationships with everyone in the D2 universe* Destiny 1 _limited to console_ D2 Forsaken; removed Multiple D2 seasons from Beyond Light up until weeks before The Final shape; all removed *Knowing about Zavala's past* Season of The Haunted _on screen_ ; removed *Knowing about Caitl* Season of Chosen, Risen, Haunted; removed *Knowing about Calus* D2 Vanilla raid; removed, Exotic mission (returned but was removed until after his plot ended), Season of Haunted; removed *Knowing about the Witness* Cutscene in Season of the Deep; removed (IDK if it has returned) Season of the Wish; removed Knowing about the Bray sisters Destiny 1 Vanilla _limited to consoles_ D2 Warmind; removed Season of the Worthy Going from Beyond Light to The Witch Queen All of 4 of Beyond Light's seasons; removed, (could argue Savathûn’s song strike; removed)
For me the biggest one that everyone seemingly forgets is Luke Smith saying they were completely removing FOMO years ago and never doing it because gatekeepers and their “but I want to feel special and flex in front of new and solo players!”
The artist was never credited or compensated. Same goes for the artist for the ace of spades nerf gun. Neither were credited or compensated for stealing their work.
That removing big bits of the game was ridiculous and I don'tt hink Bungie understands just how much money they lost doing that. I hadn't played Destiny 2 since the launch (I honestly liked Destiny 1 far better), I then decided eh.. I do really wanna get into Destiny again, and decided I'd play, and once I finished the base story again I'd buy the expansions... wow Not only did they remove most of the core story (making my purchase of Destiny 2 basically a shell of what I originally bought.. (how are there are not fking laws against this)), but the game had been dumbed down into a super simplistic rushed half baked story, to push you into a few minor dungoens before spamming "that's its folks! throw us another 80$ and we'll give you more!" I quickly uninstalled after just 1 day, and never looked back.
The content vault was where I stopped playing Destiny. I couldn’t justify continuing to give Bungie my money or my time if they were just going to essentially rob me of both. I understand what they were trying to do with creating environmental storytelling through removing parts of the game, but their meta explanation was far too weak. At the end of the day, you have games like WoW where you have decades of content still available with insane numbers of players, particularly surrounding new releases. Around the release of Witch Queen, I told my friends “if Bungie releases a feature through which you can go back and play the entire story start to finish after The Final Shape, I’ll consider going buy the expansions and supporting them.“ But I agree with you. I don’t think they ever will. And because of that, Bungie will never get another penny of my money.
On the timeline to build factor, you should look into what happened at V.C. Summer nuclear station for units 2&3 that were in development around 2011. The TL;DR: Corrupt contractors CEOs stole money and bankrupt the finishing of the additional 2 units for V.C. Summer. This left a sour taste in the mouths of the public (many who lost EVERYTHING literally overnight). I still have a handful of old previously sunset weapons, and yeh I deleted a lot of guns that took a lot of grinding to get, but honestly most of those old guns have either been replaced with new versions or just flat out left in the dust by better guns. So really not that big of a deal. Still sucks it happened, but honestly I think it they would have "sunset" themselves over time anyway
20:52 The worst of it all. Many people called Bungie out for microtransactions and how it would only get worse. Bungie themselves even came out and said they recognized the slippery slope of paid content and that it wouldn't be more than cosmetics. Whelp, here we are. Dungeons, DLC, Skins, ships, emotes, shaders, seasonal battle passes, event battle passes, all things that have to be bought outside of the expansion.
I've been thinking this same thing lately. Rerelease the 1st game and add the missing content to that or something. Like on Nintendo Switch since that doesn't have a Desriny game anyways.
I spent 2 years while working at Google requesting that they stop using the phrase "LatinX", both internally and externally, but they never listened. I'll never understand why people who aren't part of a culture think it's okay to change that culture under the guise of 'inclusivity'. 14:30 - that's not true. We know of one raid and at least one dungeon but most likely 2 that are in development currently. We have 2 upcoming episodes (seasons) they teased that have very cool looking aesthetics tied to them. 22:35 - "allowed people play the ENTIRETY of the final shape expansion multiple days before it was intended to go live. They did take the servers offline quite rapidly and nobody really got too far into the campaign..". A bit of a contradiction there.
My things about the EK ban situation: 1. Leaks have still happened and are no less frequent. 2. If they had evidence that stretched over YEARS and could access said information easily within less than a week's worth of effort, why was he only getting banned then and no time prior?
love how ignorant the average person is to these huge companies “accidents” or whatever they want to call it. they did it on purpose thinking they could get away with it. knowing if they did get caught, people would believe whatever they had to say.
My favorite thing about the content vault is that I didn’t start playing until Beyond Light, so in the final shape when Cayde is being all mushy it means nothing bc me and my guardian have never met him
That's pretty much my reaction to that and I started with Shadowkeep and actually played through Forsaken. It legitimately feels like the only point in Destiny where Cayde did anything to get people to like him was back in D1, far as I could tell he did fuck all in D2 before he died.
You can tell exactly what kind of company runs the game when half if not more of the entries in a drama video are Bungie Blunders. Never going back to supporting bungie again, no matter how good Destiny gets.
I hav a few moments that arnt really scandels, but more of interesting moments in the destiny community The laser tag week, during curse of osiris, a new exotic broke the game and dished out ridiculous damage in pvp, basically evaporated anyone almost instantly if u were hit with it. To make matters worse a week before the patch to fix this well known issue released, bungie decided to give the exotic to xur so everyone could use it at its busted best. Players who played during that time got a emblem The save the blueberries time where new players were immediately put into a dares run with no way to kill the champions so people had to put on low light armor to que with new players in order to save them from a unbeatable situation, players got a emblem for this too. The time there was a glitch with the weapons crafting where players could put full auto on things like rockets, fusion rifles and other guns, made alot of pve things easy, and made crucible complete hell
This was a great video and hits on all the good topics. I love the game but the studio and the game both have issues. But, I don’t think the eververse store should be such an issue. I understand why people don’t like it but its all cosmetic, you don’t have to interact with it.
It is actually impressive what I endured all these years and that only the 2023 lay offs compared with all the reveals about Bungies inability to support D2 the way it deserves were the final nail in the coffin for me...
I haven't played D2 as a dedicated player since Beyond Light. I kept coming back for a couple of weeks and then dropping the game. There's absolutely nothing that I'd like more than a clean slate (so, D3 basically) to pull me back into the franchise. But after hearing the latest news, I think reality finally sunk and I realize that Destiny is a chapter that will forever stay closed in my life. RIP Destiny, you were one hell of an experience
Anyone remember how sparrows were introduced. That was controversial. It was a Activision executive who saw his son playing racing games and said it should be in Destiny.
Destiny 2 could have been the Guild wars 2 of "here is years of content, lvl up the way you want" instead of deleting everything so you are forced to buy the newest expansion
it’s actually hilarious how this company seems to never learn from their mistakes, took them about seven years to make destiny 2 okay at best; couldn’t have been less surprised to see this company shit itself

23:56 LoL, the “red subclass”. That was so dumb. It’s ridiculous how hard some D2 fanboys will equate sketchy “leaks” with actual forthcoming new content.
It's funny to see bungie claiming they can afford to make more content for Destiny 2 but wont stop development of Marathon. They just need to admit they no longer want to develop the Destiny IP and need another studio to take over.
honesty 29:25 2017/2018 were the best years of D2 for me. Then in late 2018 my apartment building burnt down losing everything, and took me about a year to get back on my feet. When I FINALLY had PC built in dec 2019 D2 MOVED TO STEAM AND I LOST EVERYTHING... So I moved on, and based on the history 2019-2024, it was good riddance.
Can confirm that Latinx or any other variation of Latino or Latina is disrespectful. Because we don’t need others to tell us what to be offended by and trying to change our culture.
Sunsetting and vaulting content is exactly the tie breaker that made me just stick to warframe, I’m not ok with a game removing content I paid for and I don’t understand how for any reason anyone else is ok with that. In warframe when I come back Everything is still there and I’m still just as powerful
No, it's really wild about that Latin next term? University's at different levels, undergrad, graduate programs, and certifications and all that, still tell people it is culturally sensitive and acceptable to use the term latinx. Even though things like this, where it's clear that latinx is not viewed as being a culturally sensitive term gets a lot of outrage
45:55 Good reminder that even when they have no idea what the actual reason for an action was and may well be wrong (as in this case) corporations will speak in an indirect, condescending manner to try and convey their omniscience and a sense that they're just obviously right. No one in their right mind wants to be spending time having to sort this shit out when they could be using that time to invest in something creative or beneficial.

100 points!
This is why I only play single player game nowadays
i dont get why bungie wont just let new players play the story from beginning to end... its ridiculous

Crazy how many of the scandals were during Lightfall.
He's the main villain of Season of the Haunted, which as mentioned before is used for Zavala in The Final Shape, is also used as the sendoff and revelation of him being the primary villain of Lightfall (because they wanted to keep the Witness a mystery to reveal what it is in a cutscene during week 4 of a season, that has since been removed...)
Oh, and Season of the Haunted, relied on knowing who Ghaul is, (D2 Vanilla; removed) knowing who Caitl is (D2 2x Seasons; 1 removed at the time Haunted was accessible)
And whilst I did not play the first episode, I was one of the ones that left at the finale, knowing that it takes place on Nessus and involves a character that has not been mentioned or used or even thought of since 2017 in D2 vanilla, again removed, just shows that they're never going to change.
Then there is the fact that a lot of Destiny's story is built upon the first game which is locked as a console exclusive, and will be shut down sooner than you think, leaving the only accessible narrative of Destiny being the expansions from Shadowkeep to TFS (with all the huge holes in them from missing seasonal content)
Anyway, a shorter compacted list of elements of the game that have been removed that still are relevant.

*Knowing who Crow is and his history/relationships with everyone in the D2 universe*
Destiny 1 _limited to console_ D2 Forsaken; removed Multiple D2 seasons from Beyond Light up until weeks before The Final shape; all removed
*Knowing about Zavala's past*
Season of The Haunted _on screen_ ; removed *Knowing about Caitl* Season of Chosen, Risen, Haunted; removed
*Knowing about Calus*
D2 Vanilla raid; removed, Exotic mission (returned but was removed until after his plot ended), Season of Haunted; removed
*Knowing about the Witness*
Cutscene in Season of the Deep; removed (IDK if it has returned) Season of the Wish; removed

Destiny 1 Vanilla _limited to consoles_ D2 Warmind; removed Season of the Worthy
Going from Beyond Light to The Witch Queen
All of 4 of Beyond Light's seasons; removed, (could argue Savathûn’s song strike; removed)
I do really wanna get into Destiny again, and decided I'd play, and once I finished the base story again I'd buy the expansions... wow
Not only did they remove most of the core story (making my purchase of Destiny 2 basically a shell of what I originally bought.. (how are there are not fking laws against this)), but the game had been dumbed down into a super simplistic rushed half baked story, to push you into a few minor dungoens before spamming "that's its folks! throw us another 80$ and we'll give you more!"
I quickly uninstalled after just 1 day, and never looked back.
Good video. Lived through all of it and it was refreshing to see that the ugly wasn’t just forgotten but is relevant. Good job.
This only hurts investor relationships , relationships that want to help/fund the building of more nuclear power sites in the USA.

Why would anyone want to try a game where most content is gone?
Don't know why this is recommended for me, I ain't played Destiny 2 in two years. Oh well I'll try the 'not interested' option. Again.
Love the first game... Pre order the second and when they delete the whole second game I feel rob or scam... But I can't do anything, the game doesn't feel like it use to be anymore and the grind is just absurd, las time I play I think was in 2020
30:39 the MOST awkward silence.😭
blud forgot the CEO buying a lotta cars to flex
he could've given em to his employees
These videos take a long time to make, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he left more recent events out prior to finishing the final product. So it may slightly be outdated or just newer events show up before the final product.
I think they’d rather have jobs, or a boss who was willing to take responsibility and a pay cut.
"blud" you are really fucking cringe
@@TheChinchillaArmydon’t think so bc he mentioned the layoffs that JUST happened. He probably didn’t mention it bc it’s not explicitly connected to destiny more a bungie higher ups problem.
Remember, this is the same company that was talking about pay cuts and when asked if any of those pay cuts will apply to upper management, they were quoted saying "we're not that kind of company"
Coming back from the low of 2021 and I’m unimpressed that I had to spend over $100 to get back in and all the content I paid for is gone, dungeons aren’t included anymore and ornaments and MTX are everywhere. What happened to my favourite game?
Im glad someone remembered lizard squad
Sony's best Bud's
Damn I forgot about lizard squad lol they ruined my Christmas one year when I couldn’t play Destiny
i sure wonder what scandals or drama has happened recently! bungie is probably a really kind company :)
and the ceo is so great with money spending and budgeting! 😀
@SwagathûnTheDripQueen he treats his employees well too!!!
My experience with a hacker sucked. I was going into trials, and one of the guys on my team had hacks that made him able to attack anybody. So he griefed my team and not only ruined my flawless, but my buddy’s too and it was both of our first flawless
I got a ban for having an AMD overlay on. When I threatened to sue (pointless I know) they upgraded it to a VAC ban. Bungie can burn in hell. I sincerely hope nothing but the worst for the company and it's employees.
EAD, bungie.
42:45 low-key a hero showing just how ridiculous automated copyright enforcement systems are and the power and carelessness of giant corporations. Of course the only response was for a slightly less than giant corporation to use the pay-to-win legal system to crush them rather than for anything about those ridiculously one-sided and easily exploited systems to change.
4:40 not simply removed, it was PAID content that was removed. I was a day 1 d2 player and quit the second the started doing that and never returned.
Good, Shadow got to this point later in the video.
This video just reminded me why I left and why I should never come back.
perfect video to have in the background while i write my essays for school :ddd
They need to make a destiny 2 prequel where people can play the old campaign and expansions.
Thw final straw for me was when i stopped playing for a year and came back to a wiped account. Such a great franchise.
My things about the EK ban situation:
1. Leaks have still happened and are no less frequent.
2. If they had evidence that stretched over YEARS and could access said information easily within less than a week's worth of effort, why was he only getting banned then and no time prior?
For the Into the Light stream, they coulda just turned off Steam notifications no?
I ain't even into Destiny but I quite enjoyed watching this vid
love how ignorant the average person is to these huge companies “accidents” or whatever they want to call it. they did it on purpose thinking they could get away with it. knowing if they did get caught, people would believe whatever they had to say.
the unsunset after they talked me into dealting all of my gear i spent years to get is what reallllly got me
absolutely love these videos, thanks for the good content, and have a good one shadow, keep up the amazing work.
33:50 this gameplay clip is hilarious lol titan really thought he was superman XD
That into the light steam issue was wild... Felt bad for the devs tbh
You can tell exactly what kind of company runs the game when half if not more of the entries in a drama video are Bungie Blunders. Never going back to supporting bungie again, no matter how good Destiny gets.
"Two Tokens and a Blue" is hardly even remembered it seems with how much good will people still want to rain on Bungo
I hav a few moments that arnt really scandels, but more of interesting moments in the destiny community
The laser tag week, during curse of osiris, a new exotic broke the game and dished out ridiculous damage in pvp, basically evaporated anyone almost instantly if u were hit with it. To make matters worse a week before the patch to fix this well known issue released, bungie decided to give the exotic to xur so everyone could use it at its busted best. Players who played during that time got a emblem
The save the blueberries time where new players were immediately put into a dares run with no way to kill the champions so people had to put on low light armor to que with new players in order to save them from a unbeatable situation, players got a emblem for this too.
RIP Destiny, you were one hell of an experience
babe wake up, new shadow destiny vid
I spent close to 3-400 dollars on Destiny 2 content and none of that content is currently in the game. I hopped off at around season of the splicer.
33:48 but earlier it was revealed that 1000s of players were unjustly banned when the game first released.
Anyone remember how sparrows were introduced. That was controversial. It was a Activision executive who saw his son playing racing games and said it should be in Destiny.
the fact u can make a 50 minute video of all the scandals and they are all summarised as well and its still this long
I know this video is old now but for any that don’t know the weapon sunsetting has been removed, allowing you to use all weapons in any content again
17:20 Meanwhile you can use Golden Gun (Still Hunt) on every class, what a shitshow of a company
Pretty sure titan can dodge now
"Part of the Warlock identity" for the airborne dodge but then they make Warlocks and Hunters both do melee better than Titans
Destiny 2 could have been the Guild wars 2 of "here is years of content, lvl up the way you want" instead of deleting everything so you are forced to buy the newest expansion
22:32 nobody even made it past the first mission what 🤨
When Shadow posts a 50 minute video you know it's gonna be good.
it’s actually hilarious how this company seems to never learn from their mistakes, took them about seven years to make destiny 2 okay at best; couldn’t have been less surprised to see this company shit itself
After having watched a few videos on this channel I can only conclude it's a straight up miracle this game still exists at all

@@ShadowDestiny The whole weightgate situation could've ended up in this video if it was known at that time
I just wish the content we got was more meaningful and not just another variation of something we’ve had. Onslaught needs more content, settings, and enemy variety. Crucible needs the old maps brought back. Old campaigns should be replayable.
As someone who can't afford a pc at the moment, i would like to at least be able to fo seasonal stuff on my phone to get the weapons and armor ornaments until i get a pc and then do raids, pvp and dungeons
destiny 2 should do what cod did choose what we want downloaded so some players could play all part of the story
10:20 nah sorry, bungie literally took years of content that we paid for from us, they deserve all the toxicity they get.
Great video!
I love when peoples response to faceless attacks by randos is to just disappear. Are these nobodies actually affecting you?
The tornados in pantheon still traumatizes me
Every time incorrect bans happen in live games, I always think of how Rockstar used to say that their ban system was perfect and if you got banned incorrectly, the system would just eventually notice it and fix it anyway lmao. And then a bunch of people got incorrectly flagged as modders by a hot rod update and proved R* very wrong.
Destiny community has been through it 😅 never a dull moment. Great video man 👍
The harrassment of the player base is where all the hate stems from. Let this be a lesson to others of how not to treat the people PAYING YOUR EVERYTHING.
Day 1 of telling youtube to add super notifs cause its illegal for me to be this late to a Shadow Destiny video
“If you ever get sick of the destiny drama and decide that you want to try something new, check out warthunder”
Meanwhile: war thunder drama being far worse and destructive than destiny drama😭😭

It was my understanding the bungie banning weren't wrong per say just people couldn't be proven to know if they knew about it. It was like someone on there fireteam was cheating just not them for most of the people saying they never cheated.

46:45 My first assumption for speed runner bans is one of them found a glitch and circulated it to the others. Like how to skip a segment to do the run faster or something in that nature but in a glitch unallowed way.
23:56 LoL, the “red subclass”. That was so dumb. It’s ridiculous how hard some D2 fanboys will equate sketchy “leaks” with actual forthcoming new content.
Starts doom signaling and spreading disinformation at 14:00
It's funny to see bungie claiming they can afford to make more content for Destiny 2 but wont stop development of Marathon.
Myth when you use the grapple and use triple jump you can jump 3 times and then use grapple and then jump again
Can confirm that Latinx or any other variation of Latino or Latina is disrespectful. Because we don’t need others to tell us what to be offended by and trying to change our culture.
33:58 stunting two supers is crazy
From stuff like this to knowledge of man-made climate change going back over 50 years, this is why we should never just trust corporate PR speak.
