I've had a zx12r and a 10r. Both were fun bikes the 10r is hands down better track bike but I only did 3 track days. My 12r was a better street bike. Tons more midrange torque, more comfort and way more front end stability. My favorite bike I ever had
Dont know if youll still respond, but the reason the ZX12, Busa, and 14 are sport tourers, not sports. They have better torque curves overall, and are more street friendly. The zx10 has more than enough power for the street, but a lot of it is higher up in the RPM range. And regarding the mods, it is way easier to mod these bikes than a zx10. Theres just more room on the bigger bikes to fit a turbo and intercooler and nitrous and whatever else. We cant just simply swap motors from a zx14 and put it in a zx10, since the zx12 and 14 are built on monocoque frames. Im sure with enough time and money it could be done, but to relatively little gain. The zx12 is the same dimensions as the zx10, and people have swapped the 14 motor into it, so I bet thatd be the best power-weight. the 14 and Busa come in at around 590lbs wet, the 12 comes in at around 540, and the zx10 is around 450. However, there is still room for serious weight savings. Some guy cut 140lbs on his drag bike zx14r. Another dude saved 75 pounds from his zx12 with wheels and an exhaust system. These platforms also have developed communities which make project builds on them much easier, such as turbo kits, centrifugal supercharger kits, and nitrous kits. A zx10r will smoke any built big boi bike on the track, but itd also be less comfortable on longer rides, and you'd need to wring it out a lot more in the RPMs on the street.
I've had zx12r's and 10r's, and I prefer the 12r for using on the street, they are more comfy, torquey, stable, maybe on the twisties they aren't as quick, but overall much better than being contorted on a pure sports bike.
Different strokes for different folks, I love my 12 but I’m 6 foot three. The 12 is much more comfortable for me. Also cool to own a piece of history! If I were to take one on a track tho yes I would take a 10, if it were in the budget
Turbo those zx10r or R1m and be prepare to replace the whole engine, they factory tuned to give out all they can give only a little can be tap out of it while not affecting the engine, the busa, zx12r and zx14r are in refined, you can get more than enough power while the engine still perform sweet. I have a busa and getting a zx12r soon.
I've owned two ZX12R 2005, and one ZZR1400 (ZX14) and they are totally different Bikes, but handle exactly the same, very predictable, few vid's on my channel. I have ridden S1000R, R1, ZX10, Ducati V4s, GSXR 600, 750 1100, including GPz 750turbo, GPz900, GSXR 750, 1100 and Z1000 from 1989. Love all of them. If you drop a tooth on the front sprocket on an R1 it makes it as quick as an ZX12R in a straight line, I prefer the 1200 or 1400cc. I also know a guy who sold his GSX1000R and got a GSX750R because he used to go on track days with it as well because it handles better. I thought he was crazy for doing this, but he's right.
Im in my 50's and i welcome 3 hr rides on my ZX12r. Sjhe drinks a lot of gas and is not the best bike for a passenger ( like my wife). The ZX12r is one of my favorites. The Battery is a pain in the ass to get to, thats my biggest gripe.
It's not the horsepower that's the difference it's the torque. With a 14 or 1200 cc motor you get a lot more low end grunt. The zx12r is 10lbs lighter then the busa. I did some weight reduction on mine and she's 485 wet.
Depends how you like to ride if you want to do more coring grab the 10 if you want to do more street long distance riding grab the 12 or if u wanna build a drag bike
Your looking at it from your point of view, it's not only racing and performance. You can ride a 12, 14 or a busa on torque, wich makes them perfect for sport touring. They are more comptabele then a 1000 and more agile and nible then a touring bike. I used to own a 12 and it would eat up the miles, l cant imagine doing the same on a zx10.
Why wouldn't you turbo a small bike. Hell, let me answer that question. These bikes are way more stable and comfortable at speed! 180 on a ZX12R compared to 180 on a ZX10r lol! the ZX-10R as sketchy as fuck and has more tendency to get speed wobbles in comparison. That's why these have a bigger wheel base. It really is that simple.
Yeah, that stuffs all well and good but when it comes to building the fastest motorcycle a zx10 with a turbo will beat a 12 or 14 any day regardless of how comfortable I am while I do it
Torque is the main difference, and the staility while youaccelerating, with 1000 bikes always getting up the nose when you go full trhrottle, the big bikes wont, they just go like rocket.
@@Strykerchan you just talking about HP! Torque is the real deal! Lowend Torque gets you going. Try that race with Rolling start 40 mph both on 6th gear first to 150mph! Should be intresting
Heres what it is, at the time the zx12 was created, the sportsbikes were the zx9, the gsxr750 or tl1000 etc. Technology took massive strides in the early 2000's and the new 1000cc class superbikes were a huge step forward, to the point where their performance almost matched the big straight liner bikes like the busa and zx12. Even so, the big bikes are still awesome road bikes with the extra comfort and torque. Still love my 12 and the fact its probably the cheapest 190hp you can buy.
I clicked like but... I would argue that even a 2003? R1 did 163? bhp and anything over about 120bhp on the street is rarely accessed and when accessed is only in "Drag Mode" - super fast power burst in a straight line. I know the 'busa predates the R1 for a few years but I think the selling point of the busa for street riding has never been power or speed. All the present day people I know that ride busas when the leave the club accelerate slower that Harley's! because the HD club rider that aim for cool need a maximum display of power where the 'busa or any other 750+ bike is 'fast' at any speed. If you are going to ride any big bike on the street year after year you must quickly learn to ride with restraint as though you are towing a very light car. Busa owners have told me the "'busa is like a cruiser".

Isn't Ninja ZX12R considered a sportsbike? ZZR line is for sports touring, like the ZZR1200 and ZZR1400.

zzr1200 and zx12 are different?
yes ZZR1200 is what the ZX11/ZZR1100 became, the ZX12R is a totally different bike
If you were doing your 3houre journey at a constant 180mph including cornering you would get it.
I am 1.88cm height and 99 kilo weight; when a liter bike is under me, people think I am running very fast when riding. Hence I ride a busa
The torque makes up for the wieght
I'm 6'5 280lbs, zx10r or zx12r
Depends how you like to ride if you want to do more coring grab the 10 if you want to do more street long distance riding grab the 12 or if u wanna build a drag bike

i will race your zx10r with my 2000 built zx12r and we will see if your quick and light zx10r could handle the pressure of my built zx12r
KJ Anytime man I’m not a person that needs to win......But I guarantee you a 10 and a 12 with the exact same mods on it that 12 is going down
Stryker chan i hear you but im a lighter person than you are PLUS my 12 is far from stock soo you got some work to do buddy

True the Busa is a Sports touring motorcycle....what I am saying is at 1299cc or what ever it is that thing should be way faster!!!!
Dude your clueless the 14 is way more comfortable and so is the busa i own a busa and zx 12 the busa is like a Cadillac
On stock or any similar tune u can on max speed with zx 10 just look zx12 how leave u, yes zx10 have advantages in city ride cose much lighter
Hi mate congratulations
By saying "hate"..you actually mean "love" ?
By hate, I mean slightly dislike, but I want to say hate so people get upset and watch the whole video and comment
@@Strykerchan nice..i didnt even watch the whole video but i will now
Thx I appreciate that
Love how you call the zx 10 a small bike
Only in weight compared to the 12
I think my 94 gsxr 750 feels heavier than zx12r ...
You just don't get it. Probably never will either.
You’re probably right
So you hate the real bikes, unfortunately the little bikes are way more uncomfortable and really don't offer much more.
To each there own
H2r
There nice
