Excellent video my friend. I have a 2005 all blacked out ZX 12 R it’s a wonderful machine. I will keep this bike for the rest of my life. Thank you for putting up such an in-depth video.
Excellent video... Excellent commentary... Let me help you with a couple things.. I've owned both of these motorcycles in fact I still have the ZX12R... The difference between both of these motorcycles was that the Hayabusa had a hydraulic clutch with a much much better selection of drag racing clutch parts... And the power delivery of the Suzuki Hayabusa was a lot more turkey but not as fast as the ZX12R. The ninja was a wild beast from the planet hell, and the power delivery was absolutely psychotic and scary in most ways... There was a couple different ways to do 195 mph with a stock motorcycle back in those days and honestly the Kawasaki was very scary and brutal with the way it accelerated the Suzuki Hayabusa with smoother and easier to deal with. And I kept my ZX12R
What happened to the last 20yrs - All sems like a Blur! 48 now & officially an Old F*ck - Still Love bikes & just deciding whether to pull the trigger on a cheap Red 2000 ZX12r before I end up in on the Cruiser Bike Decline 📉 I'm starting to look @ Harley Sportsters & sh*t - how did that happen!? The ZX12r might snap me out of it! 😉 👍
Not to mention the frequent discharges because of what you mentioned earlier about the recall thing, mine probably didn't! My motorcycle is good for like 6 ,7 starts and I keep counting them 😅.
I have the 2004 model, the B3H, after all the modifications to my Kawasaki - and yes, I’m not interested in other bikes anymore. The Hayabusa is like a bus… I used to have a Yamaha ThunderAce - very similar in size - but Kawasaki stole my heart. We’ve been together for 4 years, and we will be until the end of me… or it. (It’s saved my butt so many times, this bike is staying with me forever). I look at new bikes - 2-3 years old, I could buy one - but they won’t give me what the ZX12R gives me - the true FUN FACTOR. (Record a video where you're riding in the 6-11k RPM range xD, you were riding so calmly here - I know, the weather wasn’t ideal - it was wet).
Excellent review, I do find it very strange that these weren't more popular. Your bike is very nice! Love the color. How is the seating position compared to your old vfr800?
@offthewallhobbyman6978 the seating position is a little more sporty, and the seat is not that comfy compared to the vfr vtec, but I'm gonna get it reupholstered soon 😃
Good review, You forgot to mention that when they came out, they were £1k more expensive than the Hayabusa, this is one of the reasons that lots of people went for the busa instead of the ZX12r. Me ? I've had my A1 since 2002, it now has a turbocharger fitted. 🙂. Recently bought a B2 model to slow me down a bit. Brakes need upgrading to radial on the early models, clutch baskets explode if bike is hammered. ( Billet upgrade fitted to mine). Still a missile and no rider aids, takes skill to ride and not computer controlled like more modern stuff. Oh and drinks fuel like George Best during happy hour. Apart from that , il never sell mine.
Ah really? Yep I'm sure the price difference swayed a lot of minds as well. And the busa was first I guess. I'd love to turbo this bike but i'm not responsible enough 😂 Just going through the process of upgrading my brakes now, just fitted a 2009 radial ZX10r master cylinder which is providing double the bite of the stock cylinder
Nice Machine, just wondering how did it compare to your ZX10r performance wise? The 10r is definitely no slouch - depending on the year they put out similar hp if not more than the ZX12 but the seating position is terrible for a daily rider especially if like me you're over 40 - Im looking into getting a ZX12r as they aren't near as expensive as a Hayabusa but about equal in weight / performance & comfort from what ive seen - it seems they dont get the credit thet deserve - the Forgotten Rocket 🚀 Ship! Cheers PJ 👍🇦🇺
@purebloodheretic4682 pretty much what you said. The zx10r felt smoother, especially the gear changes. But the zx12r is a lot more comfy and the power is more usable.
Bought one brand new in 2003 (b2 model with the less brutal styling) for an incredible £6995. Fantastic experience it was but sadly I just didnt keep it for more than 3 months - I still dont know why 🙄 .... I was changing bikes a lot back then and spending money like water ! To be re-visited....
No uploads for a while, hope you are doing okay. I'm heading for the Wye valley Monday, and on towards Aberystwyth sometime Tuesday, searching for some of nice places you ride!
My father bought one back in 2000 which I used to sit on the back on, He still owns and rides it, I bought my own in 2015 and I still ride it. The ZX12R is just perfect for me at 191cm height, Comfortable, good looking and fast as fuck. Not quite stock anymore tho 😅
ZX14r is the next bike I want to try out but, after all the bikes i've owned, I really don't want to sell this 12r Might have to borrow one for a day 😅
I bought my VFR 800 VTEC partly due to you, I adore it and never intend to sell it. Nearly went for a ZX10R, but now I want one of these 😂 Don't know how many bikes I'll end up with, VFR, Africa Twin, looking for a ZX12R, and I also fancy a BMW R1150RT as a wintertime hack. Is four enough?
I've owned my '00 since new (April 00). Still have it, she brings it when I wick the throttle! Yes they are thirsty girls and eat rear tires..... have fun!
Having owned a Blackbird w numerous mods and a new 2020 H2 SX SE I have to say the 12R is pretty solid. I owned the XX for 11 years, sold it at 115km, it is a more refined bike than the 12R, but the 12R just has alot more. My 96 ZX11 is pretty much the equal of my past XX. The H2 SX SE was just levels past all of them, owned it for 3 years, sold summer 2023 and now have a 2000 12R and a 96 ZX11 both modified and sorted out. Kawasawki is the choice today. Both the ZX11 and 12R have ABM bar kits,
haha I had the battery out and on charge recently and have to agree. Had to take the fairings and the seats off to get to the little drawer and then unbolt the drawer.. disconnect cables.. pull the drawer out.. OMG.......... lol

Excelent video. I own a 2002 b1 blue. The greatest bike i've ever had.
Welcome to the club 👍🏼.
I wouldn't part with my 12r, great bike especially for the taller riders

Had my stator hardwired to the regulator now after it went on me recently so hopefully I'll be fine for 2025
Same here, I have the '02 model with a few upgrades here and there, I recently bought the big sister, a '15 ZZR 1400, but I wil never sell the 12

Half the fun of owning an awesome bike is making it not stock 😅
if the ZX14R looked like the ZX12R it would be much better

Muzzy or Brocks
The Kawasaki 'fix' for the stator wires wicking was super gluing them where they come out of the housing lol.
As long as they slapped it firmly and said "that aint going nowhere"
