    This was very helpful. One thing that I noticed that was not explicitly mentioned here was that: On ice, You try to pivot your blades perpendicular to the direction you're moving (90 degrees) as fast as possible and slide, but it's very helpful on the road to start your slide at a diagonal (pivot your blades 45 degrees) and then transition to 90 degrees. That really helped me gauge how sticky the ground was and prevent falling

  • @linyan9299
    @linyan9299 2 роки тому

    Another thing have to mention, it’s the angle two skate blades created, an important factor that decides how far you can slide.

    I'm learning how to do it, whit out really put my attention and effort on it for the moment. But yeah, yesterday I heard about pushing the hills I never heard about it before and today you confirm it ! I will try when the ground will be dry ! These days are rainy in France. Btw I land the 360 thanks to your tutorial ! Just do not have the opportunity yet to make a quick video ; ) . Lino I think you could even better improve your tutorials by instead of showing the move with your hand, show a quick video or image of what you talking to, to illustrate it... I don't know.. just something witch cross my mind, I'm probably wrong. In all case great job, your tutorials help me ! Merry Christmas to you !

    I find it easier to practice slides when there is less friction around! I mean, when it has been raining and slightly wet on the ground, do you not recommend doing this? :)

    • @RicardoLino

      Gazza VeganRollerblader , hi man, different people have different thoughts about that... for me the problems with less Friction is less control . But in advanced slides helps for sure .

      This is a tough one for me as well; no problem whatsoever stopping: power slide, power stops. But making a bona fide parallel stop seems so unreachable.
      On ice skates, my parallel stops (or hockey stops) have become better but not 100%.
      Funny, I find parallel stopping on ice easier with my weak side (spinning to the right.) The majority of my stops on inlines are of course spinning to the left.
      Great tutorial! And great breakdown. Keep them coming!

      Not really! Sometimes with softer it's hard to get into the slide but then it's more consistent ;) depends on the brand

    Hey Lino, great tutorial!. May I ask what's the hardness of the wheels you are using for the slide? I'm on 100mm 85a wheels and find it difficult to do the slide.

    • @anthonymso
      @anthonymso 7 років тому +1

      yeah I second to that question. i got 100mm and 83a. I tried doing this and it's hard to do. maybe a 90a wheel perhaps?

    • @p6x2
      @p6x2 7 років тому +6

      Go with harder wheels to facilitate the slide. 88A and beyond is possibly the best compromise. Some skaters suggest to mix wheels, front wheel(s) soft, back wheel(s) hard. Depending on what you are skating on, such as four wheelers, you may remove the third wheel from the front, in order to help the slide. But the advice to initiate a turn and to close it with a slide is a good one. Obviously, and this is one of the advice missing from this video, you need to have sufficient speed to assist with the slide. If you go too slow, it is going to be more difficult.

    • @MrSeven0007
      @MrSeven0007 6 років тому

      Well, I'm able to do the parallel slide with 85a/80mm wheels. However, they got easily squared and now I have to buy some more! In my opinion, the 86a or 87a wheels are better; since I also had the chance to skate on 88a and their grip are so bad that I almost fell when I needed to make turns. That's what I think, even I've never had the chance to skate on those wheels. If anyone have some experience about that, please tell me.. I can always use more tips!
      Piece out!

    • @edixasanchezpacheco3692
      @edixasanchezpacheco3692 3 роки тому

      @@anthonymso can any of you explain what all these measurements mean in skate terms to the common people like me :) please!

    • @Victortuno
      @Victortuno 3 роки тому

      @@edixasanchezpacheco3692 he talks about the wheel size, you can use smaller wheels to do tricks or aggressive skating (I guess between 60 and 80mm of diameter). Bigger wheels (lets say between 100 and 125 mm) helps you achieve and retain higher speeds but you loose some control due its height. The other messure it’s about the wheels hardness, the higher the number the harder the wheels. Soft wheels have more grip and control whilst hard wheels you loose some grip but gain speed. Still a extremely short way to sumarize this topics. I’m quite sure Ricardo should have a video or two about it. Cheers and happy skating.

      I have a little concern that very few people have been able to answer me. Is normal the little slack between the wheels and the frame? There are sometimes where i can even hear the wheels or bearings. In a FR1 and in Kaze 110 has happened to me. So, is not normal or is necessary to the wheels that slack and also the noise it creates?

    • @RicardoLino

      iriorton hey I'm not sure it's this is that you talking about but having bigger wheels means more torque on the wheel bearing box... plastics on that area are super hard , but metal is harder ... so sometimes if the wheels are tight and there's impact the notice a can come from the wheel cores... or if the crews are loose... 🤔

    I have a question. I used to skate a lot when I was little on regular skates. I'm 32 years old now and have my own two little ones and want to get back out there and skate again but, lol buying skates are different now where back then there was skates and roller blades, now there's inline skating. I want to get some inline skates but don't know where to start. Would love the feedback 😊

    Thanks for the tuto, Lino, if you still follow this thread, maybe I can benefit from one advice: how to keep the balance? My issue isn’t to make the wheels lose grip, but I keep falling on my inner(back) side. I heard from another instructor on UA-cam that the majority of the weight has to be transferred on the front foot. So now, I’m trying “almost” to lift my inner foot when I attempt a slide so that I can subconsciously put my weight on the front one.
    Does it make sense? Because when I try 50/50... I never reach that balance. Any thought? Thanks a lot

    Dear Lino
    Thanks for your parallel stop tutorial video.
    I practice this trick on Hockey field.
    But the coach who teach kids skate on the field suggest I should use harder wheels for slide/parallel stop.
    My skate is POWERSLIDE SWELL which equip 85A 110mm wheels.
    I'm not sure the hardness is enough or not.
    My question is should I use even harder wheel like 90A ? or even harder level.
    Or I should practice on asphalt road for better slide ?
    Do you have any suggestion which surface is better for this trick practice?

I'm looking for skates that would be ideal for inline skating sessions and tricks on the flat as well as skate parks, grinding, ramps, half pipes etc. I can do stalls, 180s, ride ramps and half pipes but can drop in yet. I'm almost able to grind. I've currently got an old pair of Anarchy Chaos 3. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Mike
