excellent video Lino!!!!!!, I wish I had seen it before I broke my arm......greetings from Peru!!!!!!!!
Oh :( im really sorry about that...but hey breaking an arm is not the end of the wrodl ;) you got your whole life ahead..holla at me if i can help with anything
cheers
Lino
thanks for asking, that was the last July 16 (my birthday); but now I'm well, in fact yesterday I started skating again ... but I would like more videos like this to learn how to down hill
be a bit more specific and ill make them
You can get motorcycle jeans reinforced with kevlar, and some has knee and hip armour in them. Anyone tried them for skating?
seem like a good deal...
i havent try them yet!
;)
As a former biker chick, I was wondering that, too! I'd worry about maneuverability, though. My leather chaps might not work for quick maneuvering for skating and do not offer full protection. (Chaps = no protection in buttocks / crotch area, even as the leather slows me down walking. Full-protection pants ar available, though, and might work better.) Your typical biker jacket -- leather or synthetic materials w/ specialized safety pads -- do not lend themselves well to quick maneuverability, due to the padding having a bit too good of an armor effect, in my experience. They are also heavy, for obvious reasons. ;)
That is a good idea for this stuff! Not worth losing a load of muscle to the tarmac..... ouch
I wear under clothing armour from Xion when ice skating. Most people don’t know it’s their. For inlining I wear external arm and knee pads with plastic shields to protect my joints and clothes.
Would a hockey back protector with shoulder pads be good? They are cheap on eBay.
i got some experience as longboarder, alltough i never really got into downhill. Here's what i know:
1. the pucks on gloves are a thing from longboarding. the professional ones are made from teflon and are very slippery. they are very helpful because you can keep a hand on the floor to stabilize and shift your center of mass (like an extra wheel oustide of your board). it's necessary for introducing a slide (drifting). You can make them super cheap from plastic cutting borads you find in any supermarket.
2. Full face helmets are always to be preferred. you don't want to fall with no protection for your face. Without, you will suffer more than just a broken nose. motorcyclists can relate.
3. For aerodynamics and body protection longboarders use motorcycle suits.
4. Wheels. Harder wheels have the least grip. skateboard wheels are supper slippery and hard to control. soft wheels have high grip, feel super soft for cruising and have more friction, but for downhill might be to slippery as well. so for downhill it's something in between.
5. Experience. Dont go downhill before being capable of properly braking. downhill is extremly dangerous. when the longboard hype was on it's peak, i frequently heard of deaths, especially in argentina.
I'm always expecting bad advice with DH tutorials, but you made a solid video here, Ricardo. It's good to see people in the comments interested in starting and for the right reasons; that is, not getting led astray by people without helmets or less than ideal DH setups. Thumbs up.
Thank you :)
Oh thank goodness for this as well. After my spectacular fall down a hill a couple weeks ago I've been try to learn all I can so as to not repeat that. I'm very much ok aside from some road rash but I'm always glad to see more help from my blading instructors online.
eheh.thanks Daniel. As you know im here to help..so please let me know what you´re struggling with..--
I wish I could stop like you, I love it and it is really difficult for me, I will continue practicing, thanks for your videos man ...
for me too, that T stop doesnt work, on downhill i have to fall to stop or am going to crash
I only can t-stop downhill and it frustrates me cause of my wheels. I could do the protection one but i am afraid of the cars behind me.
That view is so sick
Fun video with good tips! My tips are first to prerun course and learn of the tight or dangerous turns. Always keep your speed under control! It's easier and safer to keep your speed down vs try to slow down when speed your gets too high and out of control. Air brake with arms straight and pointing down close to your body with hands and fingers closed or slightly cupped. Expert tip in a tuck position with both hands together behind your back like a speed skater, cross your thumbs with all fingers closed and together in a line to make a wind spoiler to add or reduce wind drag, with hands and fingers curved up it will increase drag slow speed a little and give more stability going through a turn, with fingers in straight streamline position off your back you will go faster with less drag but less stability. I believe downhill skating is extreme skating, my rule is. if you can't skate up the hill, you're not ready to skate down it. Peace and Aloha
I skated down mount tabor in Portland Oregon today. Scariest experience in my skating life. I used the T stop but it barely slowed me down. Thank goodness the hill straightened out at the bottom.
You nearly hit that bird @ 15:47 😀 Great video!
i know...its a wild chicken..ahhaah
;) me and the bird got lucky
lol, me at 480p: what bird?
me at 1080p: wow that was a huge one
Such a stunningly beautiful view!
Beautiful scenery !
I'll start skating in a few weeks and where I live we have some pretty nasty hills, I don't want to panic, done that enough on my skateboard
I have some pretty steep hills near my house. If they aren’t steep they are long and you build up speed anyway. I stupidly went on basically all of them with the only stopping technique being running off on grass. Maybe don’t do that.
Great video.
thanks Shaun
Really appreciate it !
that was pretty rockin' !!! beautiful scenery and good advice
Love your videos. Your so lucky to have all year round sun to continue the skating. Not so in the uk
Legal que você é bem consciente e conscientiza a galera, obrigado pelo vídeo e dicas.
Dude... it's beautiful in Cape Town! Great vid.
enjoyed the whole video, felt lyk we were on a lesson one on one.thanks lino.
Absolutely amazing! Please keep more video
Great video!!! Thanks for the advices....
This is the 1st video I watched by You. I have been watching tiago And I decided to watch one of Your videos. I have never considered downhill skating before this point but I really enjoyed your video. You get a like From me!
A good teacher
very informative ! thank you!
Excellent advice,excellent video!
I like your tips about safety car and focus on the traffic patterns or time at day, it’s a type of skating that’s too fast for me but I like speed as well on my recumbent bike. Thanks and thumps up
This was enjoyable and educational. Thanks for sharing with us! Cheers! :)
Great video, and thanks for all of the saftey tips!
Konarali thank you ! Hope more people make use of them 👊🏼💥
Thanks for the old vid sir Lino.. its 2023 now and I'm watching to learn
Great advice from some old school daredevils! Thanks for the safety refresher course! Take care n keep the rubber side down!
Just bought the Intuition FR1's, and they're so comfortable. Haven't inline skated since I was a teenager, and I'm stoked!!!
The landscape is beautiful in this video
Cape Town is dreammy!! trust me :D
Great vid👍
ins't a helmet the most important saftery wear? i mean you can break a hand and live, but it's harder to live with a cracked skull dude.
100% ;)
@@RicardoLino where did you get your full face helmet from? I have been looking for one for in-lines
@@cheyennestreeter It looks like a Bike helmet will work too. They both look same to me.
Awesome video! PLEASE DO ONE FOR QUADS!!
Well done Zane!!!
the man till got it ;)
Awesome!!!!
Excelente!
Awesome video. Do you get speed wobbles at that speed.
I’m a beginner skater and where I live we have rly steep hill (not even school busses can climb em’) this was rly helpful
It's so good.
thank you so much for this video
Complimenti ragazzi👏, e che panorama 🔝😎
Very good thank you.
wow! that must be fun for you. it looks challenging for me.
Nice one once again :) When I started skating like 3months ago you had 4k subs and now 7 !!! That is amazing, well done and thank you for all your hardwork. LETS MAKE SKATING GREAT AGAIN!! :)
antoanarnaudov thank you soo much ! I would say something more like , let's make people see how great skating is again
85k subs now
"You ready for this?" - Lino courteously asked.
"F*ck my life." - Zane casually replied, willing to put his life on the line...or you could say..inline...eh?
hahahaha...Zane is the best! ;)
This is the most useful video about downhill technique I've ever seen! I like it! Thanks, hi from Russia.
Fantastic! Downhill speed is not currently for me, but what a great video with good tips!
thaks Paul! the truth is downhill can actually be safe and fun..if we choose the right places and take the needed safety precautions
;)
Amaizing video!
thank you soo much :)
Great video , Bravo !
I just came back from Barcelona after watching your last trip's videos. Now I have to try some downhill :D Great video

SUPER!
Wow la Vista!
I hope to meet you some day, your channel is incredible
nice place for skating. thanks.
great sir thank u for make video for us . helpful video
"Oh, what should I do!"
I died of 🤣.
Thank you for the video! Very useful! and although I do not speak English, but the essence was clear))! I recently bought a frame at 5 * 80mm 84a, so I'm looking for training videos, and I've been fond of 4 * 90mm speed skating. I subscribe to your channel and likes the video because they are very sincere)! greetings from Ukraine!
As a motorcyclist, I gotta say if you're expecting to go over 30mph regularly & you're going downhill so you're not pushing, consider a motorcycle racing 1-piece. You'll have armour at the elbows, hips, knees & spine, and leather protecting you from road rash, which can strip the skin right off you to the meat if you're going fast. It's hot, of course, but you drop a degree for every 10mph you go.
Soft will give you more grip for a tight course and hard compound will give a greater rolling speed but less grip more for courses that have more less demanding turns and longer straights but you will feel every ripple on the surface more.
Nice Video!
thank you
This vid is really perfect for skating people bb
thank you soo much
Looks fun!
come and join !!!
I'm really impressed with your tricks like no lie(teach me plz😂) at first I thought my tricks looked cool, but it's nothing compared to yours, great vid man
good job bro!!
,Thanks Andreu .
You are killing it brother!!
thank you so much Andreu!
YOU ARE TOTALLY KILLING IT BROTHER!
lots of love
Lino
I bought 5 wheel Rbs years ago..I bought on a fluke because they looked cool, different and felt good. I skate ok, no pro or anything..Never knew until today really what they are ideal for. I started skating more recently and decided i need to buy some new skates.. I finally ordered some new skates after all this time lol. I live in the city so i REALLY need some URBAN SKATES. I ordered some Powerslide Next 110 Triskates. Now have learn how to stop without a brake...ugh!
Muito bom! 👏💪
estou ansioso por domingo!!!
THE LINO LIFE também estamos, será muito divertido!
Kevlar jeans are awesome
That was pretty awesome, guys! Cheers from the U.S.! = D
Good vid for me because I'm intresting in inline downhill :)
THANKS for the comment ;) its a whole lot of fun :)
What about the magic slide breaking technique
15:47 cool how you avoided the risk
I think it would have been great to see more video skating downhill, you did spend a large portion of the video talking... :)
But having said that, all the talking was really helpful. So maybe a follow up video with less talking (link back to this video for anyone who hasn't seen it) and then more skating :D
I never gonna do downhill skating, however I am not sure 😅. Stunning video, thanks Ricardo
Wowwwwww mine just came today
Thx
15:20 starts going down the hill. Before that is how to prepare and what techniques to use in making the ride more aerodynamic and how to brake.
I love that you loved all comments haha, Greetings from Chile!!
Hey nice video! How do you control your speed and stop when going off-road. Usually the path is too narrow to do turns and too unstable to use T-brake so I haven’t found a way to control my speed
Same here
I use USD sway powerslide aggresive boots, Does the agreesive wheels works for it? I mean I've tried a couple of times and I had luck but which is your best recommendation?
Fellas. Nice job. But your wheel durometer should be matched with ride. If you are professionally inline hockey - soft - if your looking for distance while considering speed handling and cost... well
I would just use my motorcycle gear, maybe with additional wristguards over my gloves. But I still have a long ways skill-wise and i don't even know the right people
PS: i think the downhill gloves are meant as a handbrake and for sliding for added stability
Очень красивое видео с шикарной панорамой!! Прости, а борода тебе не мешает? Шучу! Шикарный спуск! Молодцы
Yo Lino, great channel! :) Got a question, could you recommend a skate that you can both ride easy in the city and a bit of downhill for us poor bastards that cant afford a dedicated downhill skate?
where is this beautiful canyon located during your downhill run?
Possibly a stupid question but shouldnt 3 wheels be better at turning than 5 wheels? Because the frame is much shorter?
It looks beautiful those mountains. Great advice about 2 wheels downhill, yup good luck turning haha.
for straight lines would cool ;)
Is that South Africa or new Zealand? Awesome scenery
7:45 would such stop work well on 125 mm triskate?
Ricardo you can not talk about safety without wearing the seatbelt!
Take me with you oaks!
lets go next sunday ;)
What is the best stop which don't kill the most bthe weels?
at those speeds we don´t have a abs system..so its either using a braking system that some of the top downhill skaters use.. or the carving to slow you down..other then that will always be with one or both feet dragging and killing wheels..
15:46 rabbit 🐇
I ran over my best friend when I was following him downhill. R.I.P Hardcore Trevor ♥️
did u actually?
Nice video Lino. How about the magic slide? It is used a lot by downhill skaters. If you also plan on making a video tutorial about it would be awesome. Btw, it would be cool if for this type of videos you could get the speedometer information that you had on one of your older downhill videos. Keep up the good work!
Good job Lino. Keep up the good work. One small suggestion would be to improve slightly your presenting skills. Other than that you are doing an awesome job for the inline skating community. Let's have a ground breaking video like the "Braille glass skateboard". 😁😄
Thanks you soo much !! I really appreciate when someone does an honest comment 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼. Please explain me a bit more about the presentation part . Suggestions are welcome ;) 👊🏼💥
THE LINO LIFE Hard to explain it. I watch lot of various UA-cam channels on various subject and it catches better when the talking part is "entertaining". Check channels like @callmeagent00 @brailleskateboarding @jesserthelazer ...
I love you you are good skater love you too
nice..
