My first wild camp in the 690 Grams Vaude Lizard GUL (Giga Ultra Light) 1p double skin backpacking shelter. I decided to go on a 24 hour hill walk and wild camp on the Isle of Arran and stayed at Coire - Fhionn Lochan. But it didn't all go well when a major bit of gear failed on me.

Thank you for your support, it's really appreciated.
Great Video, pity about the air mat gremlin.
Tell me about it!
Hi Andrew. So you came to my beautiful island home again without inviting me along, one Park in the glens, two Parks might have been interesting. Ps. Hope the mat is reparable.
Nice camp in a great location,
These inflatable mats ! What can you say, every make, they all seem to suffer and a fail in the night can be so bad, as seen in my last but one camps ! Makes you wonder what make to get for reliability, if it’s even possible,
I know the tent is small but hey so light, got to be worth it.
Cheers
They pigs are like tooth picks. Great trip
so are my pegs ;-)
That's an unusual tent! Real shame about the sleep mat. I'm SURE you know this, but since another experienced camper suffered a similar issue with his XTherm, I thought I might as well check. In his case, he screwed the cap shut, but hadn't fully closed off the WingLock valve. This resulted in his brand new XTherm apparently deflating every couple of hours, but fortunately it was just a case of not using the valve as per its design. Like I say, I'm sure you've checked it out already, but it would be lazy of me not to share someone else's mistake with you! ✌️ Lovely vid. ATB, James.
Cheers James, I did suspect the valve but since found a microscopic hole in the baffles. Reckon it was a tiny bit of grit under the mat combined with my overweight body 😂
@@AndrewParkOutdoors That's a bugger!! I hope it patches up okay.
Nice spot, I fancy Arran but not sure it would sustain me for say a week? Your thoughts.
Very very tempted to squeeze an Arran trip in for a couple of nights... It's been tooooo long.. Lovely little pitch there... cheers Andy.... Jim... 😎
relatively handy for you too, well recommended !
Love it. Great location.
Cheers James ☺️
Just perfect...
It was a lovely wee micro adventure, thanks for watching. A
Once again great video 👍
Thanks Gavin 😊
Like two lads fightin under a blanket,I told you not to sneeze, look mayhem ensued great vid 👍 😀.
😁
Weather was great at the weekend, got to love Arran👍🏕🏴👌
Draws me back every time, pristine when you get away from the honey pot areas
Great video ..I've never been to Aran but have looked across at it many times..a great wee tent, would be good for multi day hikes or bike packing...many thanks Andrew
Arran is one of my favourite places. Growing up, it was just a hop over on the ferry and then into a different world from the part of Ayrshire I lived in.
it's also where I had my first camping experience (with the Cubs), it was horrific and put me off camping for decades afterwards.
Haha, funnily enough i had a similar experience !
Great spot, reminds me of the tarn below Blencathra. Sorry to hear about the night deflation, not much worse, the slow journey of the cold ground heading towards you.
Amazingly the ground wasn't too cold, otherwise that would have been a nightmare, since found a microscopic hole, probably caused by grit...grrr. A
Another great video matey 👍 as always.
Tent a bit two cosy for my like, but looked good. Beautiful views again, I'm really looking forward to getting up there next year, for some kayak camping around Loch Lomond.
Thanks 👍
Looked a great spot for a camp there Andrew.
You seem to be able to get out camping at the drop off a hat, you must be super organised.
After every camp do you put things away or as soon as you've dried and cleaned anything is it all straight back in the rucksack.
Sometimes thats what puts me off, getting everything back out and organising everything.
Food, packing, sorting the car etc.... wish i was more organised so i could head out at moments notice
Hi Steve, i dry and check stuff, out it away, then it gets packed the night before the next one, drives my wife mad :-)
Just put this on my list.enjoyed watching 👍🐶.cracking camp spot.
They pigs are like tooth picks. Great trip
