Without question, a far superior course of instruction than RIP (graduated Class 14-87). Then again, RASP is conducted at a world class training facility, while RIP was based out of 40 plus year (former Airborne Test Platoon) complex. It pleases me greatly to see the major upgrade to the course. Obviously, the RASP graduate is a far superior candidate to arrive Day 1 at his respective Ranger assignment. Everything we did in RIP, is a far lesser form of what I see. The live fires, the obstacle courses, far exceed what we did. And we had no shoot house and conducted zero hand to hand combatives. Interestingly, I have to say that the Army did it right in transitioning from the course criteria of RIP, to the new, greatly superior RASP. It's not often that I have such a sentiment about the Army. But, "call it, as you see it." In all honesty, if the group of RIP candidates (80 some) that began Class 14-87 with me...had to go through RASP at that time...there would have been only one graduate. As it was, 11 others besides me, squeaked by, joining me at the ceremony to don the black beret. Higher standards, a world class training complex, a greater volume of course instruction. Kudos to all involved! 😎
僕らの生活の裏側でこの様な過酷な訓練を乗り越えた精鋭達が戦っている事には驚きと感謝と尊敬しかありません。
