The fact that the Russians gave out a medal that was basically for just surviving against the might of the US Military, has got to be one of the nicest compliments Russia could ever give to the US.
A crucial aspect of this battle not mentioned here is that when that first shot landed Russian communications went dead. The Americans were jamming _everything._ The Wagners couldn't call for any support, they couldn't coordinate beyond shouting range (which isn't very far when everything is exploding), they couldn't reach headquarters to get them to call off the Americans. I heard a second hand story of how/when a German soldier knew they had lost WWII. The soldier spotted a US tank and was well outside of machine gun range so he thought nothing of it until the tank turned its main gun in his direction and fired. He quickly took cover and survived, but the fact that the US military was willing to use such expensive ammo to try and kill a single enemy soldier made him realize what hell his side was up against.
@@doomlord5921 The "cake story" was a scene in the movie "Patton"...I doubt that its true but nevertheless in WWII the American logistical command, "The Red Ball Express" ran 24/7 to keep American divisions supplied with food, fuel, ammo, new replacement equipment and boots and clothing. Also, the American tanks were largely inferior to the German armor and it took literally 5 American tanks to take out one German...but, American production lines cranked out tanks by the thousands. Also, American air supremacy kept the Germans on the run and American troops well covered. Now, 80 years later we have even more formidable logistics and fire power. I was just a few hours south of this battle when it happened. I remember the absolute shock of all of my officers that the Russians would do this and then deny it and get absolutely clapped
I heard about this on a different channel a year or so ago, including the original audio of the calls with sub-titles. The Russians knew this was their mercs, the mercs knew that they were going to engage with Americans, and they were salty as heck that the Russians put all the blame on the mercs for making the mistake of attacking. Great video, thanks for posting it
The original audios are absolutely crazy to listen to. You can still hear the disappointment and fear in the callers voice. Thank you for the support, glad you like the video!
It's simple: the Russians were going for "plausible deniability" and when that didn't work, they immediately sold out the attacking force in an effort to keep themselves credible. If they had admitted that Russians were amongst the forces and that Russia had ordered the attack, that would have been an act of aggression that might have triggered a war between Russia and the US. Now flash forward to the Ukraine war and you see that Russia, and more specific Putin, is still trying to use these same tricks. His forces "only went in on a peacekeeping mission to protect the Russians in the three so-called autonomous republics. Questions about what Russian troops were doing around Kiev then were met with deafening silence. And even now, after more than a year, Russia/Putin still won't admit their act of aggression and blame everyone but themselves. Which is kind of the standard abuser's defence: "I don't want to beat you, but you force me to beat you"

Probably a request from the DoD to help the Russians save some face. The American military complex is far more driven to try diplomacy far more than most people realize as a pure aggressive stance tends to use up more resources without a meaningful need, especially when you're the one superpower.
The original reports as they leaked out claimed that CIA estimates were more than 300 casualties and as many as 200 of them Russians. I think the US didn't want to gloat publicly out of fear that it would be too great a humiliation with possible blowback. Fact: you can't march across an open area concentrated with American artillery and airpower and not have your ass sent to hell. As we have learned the Russians ain't too smart at understanding the West and what we'll fight for. Send a message? They didn't have a lot of choice. It was 40 SF vs 500 fighters. They were close to the US base. You don't fire warning shots and give them a chance to adapt or engage in small arms fights to be fair. Those tactics would get a lot of Americans killed. What happened is precisely US doctrine for several years now. It shouldn't have been a surprise.
Whether the Russians sent them by sheer incompetence or on purpose to serve someone's interest in their own internal political fights is up for grabs. But I can absolutely see the Americans purposefully making their response as overwhelming as possible to make sure that the point that they shouldn't be messed with is thoroughly driven home.

The original audios are absolutely crazy to listen to. You can still hear the disappointment and fear in the callers voice. Thank you for the support, glad you like the video!
I heard two mercs talking about it,one who survived says it was hell on earth and total clusterfuck from their side
Which is kind of the standard abuser's defence: "I don't want to beat you, but you force me to beat you"
If Ukraine is any indication it seems the musicians are scapegoats for the Russian MOD.

Those people asked for our help and we gave it to them. It’s not Americas fault that we hit harder than Russian troops, blame Putin for that. Not us, as well as we did radio the Russian troops ahead of time and they disregarded our msg traffic. So sorry, not sorry.
@@Lorifel0 They most have smelled the oil they could steal, they are still at it and in Somalia, hypocrites.
Russians: Don't you think that was over kill?
USA: Over kill? Seriously? we were showing restraint.... half of you are still alive arn't you?
Oh man, the story is more juicier than thought! Even Western official news channels didn't report the magnitude of ass beating.
I remember the German Chancellor visiting Saddam Hussein just before the 1st Gulf War and telling him you don't want to go up against the Americans, they'll destroy your country, they destroyed mine twice already. An actual quote.
I remember when this happened and a few days later heard most of what this story relates...my thoughts were "Putin F'd up"!
@@khiem1939 Exactly, almost all this information presented here was available at the time if one spent any effort to look for it. The MSM purposefully buried this story, as it does not fit their Trump-Putin narrative. They have not changed that story to this day.
Look up the voice recordings, they were saying the “Americans kicked are ass hard”
USA: ay man, these guys yours?
Russia: nah aint ever seen em mate
USA: good talk, call you next morning
I love how American troops just decided send a message, instead of just stopping the attack.
They send a message so clear both Russian and Syrian withdrew together...
General Mattis ordered to force to be annihilated. His words.
This reminds me of a passage in The Art of War. _“The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.”_ lol.
@@aaronwalsh8469 well, he called it right...
Yea, that message is we will invade wherever the hell we want to.
What’s new in moskovites?
@@hristohristov6118 you are the only person on this comment section that realizes the American government basically is Isis now
@@hristohristov6118 You sir are wrong. When Iraqi forces were retaking Mosul back from ISIS with US lead coalition support, US was bombing Mosul on average 100 sorties a day. Mosul was a city of half a million people. US conducted over 8,000 sorties and another 5,000 sorties from other NATO allies in a 10 month span over Syria and Iraq. Did Russia and Syria help take back Iraq from ISIS? NOPE! ISIS north of the Euphrates River was all eliminated but ISIS still exist in 2023 in "Syria and Russian" control parts of Syria but US can't go south of the Euphrates River to mop them up.
@@tdawg5742 You mean the Iraq city of Mosul , the same Iraq that US led coalition occupied 2 times in 25 years and have military presence in ? The US supervised Iraq gave birth to ISIS movement that moved to all neighboring countries and beyond. Surely US had nothing to do with it :) like the mujahedeen. in the end US fight both of them... for the cameras. US will never let anybody take Iraq while there is still oil . The oil territory agreements were made after WW1 and from the original US sphere ( Saudi Arabia) US is taking the UK shares in Iraq and Iran ( because UK did not have the power to keep them. This is the big picture in Middle East for the past 100 y. and the background for every conflict there. No other big country will be granted foothold there.
@@hristohristov6118 US is the top producer of oil. US imports 157,000 barrels of oil from Iraq a day. So your point on Iraqi oil is invalid. Makes you an idiot actually.
US left Iraq because Iraq wanted US gone so whatever happens after that isn't on the US. ISIS took months to form and US new it for months and warned Iraq about it but the Iraqis did nothing about until it was too late.

When he specifically said the "Blue painted SU-34/35s remained on the ground" I am kinda speculating if that was throwing out a hint that the US military already had eyes on their base and were ready to attack it IF they retaliated in any way.
If an AWACS was anywhere nearby (and it was) they know where all planes airborne anywhere are. Soon as they go wheels up, they're spotted, and have a flight of Raptors vectored to them.
@@scottrackley4457And those Sukhois would be flaming heaps before they even knew any Raptors were onto them.
They could attack if they were responsible for what Syria government do, but they dont.
Sukhoi's are shit. Can't even keep their airliners in the air. Fatality rate is off the charts. So I don't think they'd stand a chance against 5th Gen aircraft.
Dude, the US military had eyes on the convoy way before they even start to move. Those eyes were the MQ-9 Reapers
This event has the "There is no such thing as overkill; It's either dead or fired upon again until it's dead" vibes.
Edit: Well, this comment blew up more than expected. Tbh, I don't really blame the "overkill" since you can't really be "too safe" in a frickin' war zone. I will be honest though, that's a frickin' impressive display of coordination, logistics, and firepower... mostly firepower.
@crassgop The US Moto at least going back to the Korean War is: "Blow the enemy to pieces and then shoot those pieces to bits."
I think, the point they were making to Russia was, "if you're using Wagner to skip accountability, they will be dealt with as any other enemy combatant in a war zone. Every last one of them, until you tell us otherwise".
