Soooo, he didn't "disappear" at all. It's also sounds like football helped him become quite successful. Played D1 ball at big time programs. Graduated. Has a great family and is now HS head coach. Pretty nice life. Just because he didn't become an NFL star doesn't mean he's unsuccessful. Sounds like a great guy who is doing very well in life....
Trevor player out of his mind that night against Alabama. I don't buy the "didn't want to be there" argument. OU was simply better that night and probably something Alabama wasn't expecting. Look up the stats...OU was a Top-10 rushing team that year.......but not that "Knight". Masterful coaching performance by Stoops with significant luck by Knight playing his best Sooner Magic game. Matt, we whipped your but that "Knight". Yes, some luck was involved....though, luck is made....but had nothing to do with Bama not wanting to win. Trevor is a Sooner. I remember seeing him on the sidelines on Owen Field in 2016 against KSU....he was TAMU's starting QB that season. Dude is a freaking ROCK.....and Sooner Forever!!!!!
Whatever happened to Michael Bishop the Kansas State QB who was 22-3 at K State, finished 2nd to Ricky Williams in the Heisman voting. That would be a great idea for a video
Matt, a perfect video to pair with this is if you covered Blake Bell's career from loosing the QB job to Trevor Knight to becoming the Belldozer to carving out a very long and successful career as a TE
Im pretty Sure Baker transferred in in 2014 and sat out the 2014 season because of transfer rules back then. He ran the scout team and was obviously better than Trevor.
I've never made a video request but I always hoped if you did a Sooner QB, you'd do Jamelle Holieway. I wasn't sure if you'd cover someone from before your time or not. Great wishbone QB, took over for Troy Aikman before Troy transferred, won the National Championship... but then legal problems ended his OU career the following offseason.
I once ran into Trevor he was sitting on a tailgate of a truck drinking beer in the parking lot after the OU TCU 2017 Big 12 Championship in Dallas. Super friendly guy I will forever be grateful for his performance against bama in the sugar bowl we thought he was going to win Heisman the following year. He was a one game wonder but he will forever be a sooner legend for his performance against the tide lol
hey matt i enjoy your videos a ton and have been binge watching them . Doubt your gonna see this but if you do, I just wanna recommend you do what really happened to Boobie Miles. Haven't heard anything about him since friday night lights
I remember when OU and TCU played in 2015 and OU won 30-29. Baker got injured and Mr. Trevor Knight went into the game. When he went in I thought he was going to lose us the game. Thank god steven parker made that insane clutch play to get the W. Later in the video you talked about how he should have changed positions - Blake Bell, previous OU QB, did this and has had a relatively successful career in the NFL as a tight end.
One of the best highlights from that Trevor Knight versus Alabama game was the Alabama Mama swan diving over the crowd. Is there any way we can get a story video about the Swan Diving Alabama Mama?
I remember that game... and Derick Henry seemed like he wanted to be there. He was mowing down guys left and right when most guys who quit would have found a nice place to lay down before the defender got to them. I don't care what Saban said after the game, the players bought into Paul Faceplam's "You can just show up, put on the uni and the Sooners will roll over for you." By the time they figured out Stoops was sick of the blowouts and had his team ready, it was too little too late. But anyone watching that game knew Henry would be a terror for the next few years.
Ask Roy Finch if Bama wanted to be there. I believe it was after Bama's first TD, they kicked off to OU. Finch returned the kick and nearly got dismembered by a Bama special teams player. 😂
@@Stable_Genius "Bama didn't wanna be there" is a pretty lame excuse. Looked like they wanted to be there in the first qtr when Bama's players were celebrating TDs like they had just won the lottery. 🤣
Matt! Can you do a “What happened to Daryll Clark” video (former Penn State QB)? That would be a perfect video. The man went 22-4 as a starter and won a big ten championship. Played in the rose bowl. Finished in the top 10 both seasons, he was the starter. And he barely gets a mention among top PSU QBs. In fact, still run into fans who wish Devlin got more of a look.
Yo Matt Sooner Fan here great video i’ll go ahead n mention Katy Perry She was on GameDay and she told him to call her she “shot” her shot basically 😂😂 Bro was never the same after Word is he did call her n she blew him off cuz he lost this is the said exchange *Phone ringing Katy- “Hello” Trevor- “hey its uh…..Its Trevor” Katy- “Trevor Who?” Trevor- “Trevor Knight” Katy- “oh….hey” Trevor- “Did you really mean what you said” Katy- “about what?” Trevor- “on Gameday….did you mean it” Katy- “What did I say?” *click Katy- “hello…?” And to add its not common knowledge but Baker came in January of 2014 literally just days after the Sugar Bowl he had to sit out the 2014 season so he was there for a year atleast then he won the job in ‘15 Great Vid Matt these docu series you been putting on the channel has been getting me thru the summer keep up the good work Mozel Tov
If you was following OU football then you knew Mayfield would be the starter the next year, had the ncaa not made him sit out he would have started the previous year.. What a weird take on this situation..
You failed to mentioned Trevor delt with a shoulder injury all that 2014 year had surgery in the offseason and thats when Baker was eligible and took over. Baker tranfered after the bama game and had to sit out the entire 2014 season cuz of old transfer rules. So no Baker didnt just show up amd win the job in a few months Baker was there for over a year at that point. You can go watch the 2014 Spring game and Baker had like 250 yards.
Me & some friends went down to New Orleans the night before that game. Saw him outside on canal street in front of, I think it was his hotel. That dude was just smiling laughing with a couple teammates. He went on to shred that bama defense next day
You left a lot of his story out. Trevor Knight gained notoriety as a freshman when he imitated Johnny Manziel as the scout team QB before the Cotton Bowl and nobody could tackle him. He wasn’t a good passer but he was a good running QB, and you failed to mention that.
I’m an OU alum and I remember that game like yesterday too. The guy played like Joe Montana. I’ve never seen a player just be in the zone like that only one time in their career.
bro is living an amazing life.. he got passed up by baker, and moved on to atm, dated the duck dynasty broad for a bit, married and has been on tv quite a bit. amazing human being.
but during this game, it was announced by zach sanchez on twitter, they were all drunk off hennessey. trevor knight included.. bama got smoked by a drunk Oklahoma offense, and demolished by a drunk Oklahoma defense..
The Justin Fuentes story is interesting as well. And of course, Troy Aikman who grew up in Henryetta Ok. Even when they don't have a great season it seems like there's always something going on there.
Bro, you got half of the facts wrong. Baker Mayfield was at OU for a full year before he became the starter of OU (ineligibility due to transfer rules). And that is not even the Trevor Knight from OU at the end of the video LMAO. THAT IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TREVOR KNIGHT. If you make these type of videos at least check your facts before talking about them... That or just don't make these vids, because it sounds like you don't know what you're doing. All you did was just read off his stats... Everyone can go do that.
I like the part where you mention “Alabama didn’t want to be there, like the time they lost to Utah.” Funny thing is when Alabama lost lost to Utah, they hadn’t been winning championships yet. In fact they lost to Oklahoma state two years before that in a bowl game and lost to OU two years in a row in non conference games.. I’m not going to let you get away with that comment. Alabama came out hot. They wanted to prove they should’ve been in that title game.
The Trevor Knight that is mentioned at the end of this video is not the same Trevor Knight who played football at The University of Oklahoma and Texas A& M. If you do a little research the Trevor Knight at the end of the video, the High School coach has these credentials and played football at these places - Nashua High School South (he was coached by his Dad), University of New Hampshire, and Canadian Football League. The real question is - where is Trevor Knight - who went to high school at Ronald Reagan HS in San Antonio, TX. I can find no information about him.
He was one of those very rare players that when he was on the field the entire defense would seem to jump up to the next level. I've actually never noticed this effect from a player on field presents until watching Box play.
As an Oklahoma fan I was hyped about that win against Bama. He made me feel good about the next season but he fall flat on his face and lost his job to baker then went to Texas A&M and I think he didn’t even play the full season cause he got hurt
He didn’t disappear. He played poorly in 2014. Then Baker Mayfield happened. He didn’t pout, he was a great backup QB who helped Baker get ready for games. Then he transferred to Texas A&M. Then he tried to make an NFL roster, and didn’t make it. Then he played for Arizona in the AAF. Then he stopped playing football. He now lives a great life, has a family. The end.

He went downhill almost immediately after the Katy Perry shout out on Gameday. He was booty in 2014. And then Baker Mayfield happened. Sooner fans will love him for that Sugar Bowl win, the rest of his time was pedestrian to forgettable.
3:14 Trevor Knight falling into irrelevancy after one great game against Alabama in the Sugar Bowl isn't shocking. Especially if you take into consideration, when Cardale Jones led OSU to victories over Wisconsin, Alabama, and Oregon to claim the NC in 2014.
Trevor Night had a ton of skills but he was inconsistent. You never knew which guy would show up. There are athletic performance coaches that work with players like that, and there are some at OU. But for whatever reason, Trevor either did not get that kind of help or did not respond well. He also had some injury issues. Some of those were caused by runs (he was really speedy) that did not end wall.
Trevor Knight is a seemingly good dude. He played out of his mind against Alabama; it was an out-of-body performance. OU was transitioning on offense, shifting from the spread to a flex-spread RPO type of offense after Johnny Manziel carved us up in the Cotton Bowl. Josh Heupel was the OC at the time. As an Oklahoma Sooners fan, I really miss Trevor Knight. He was one of my favorite players growing up as an Oklahoma Sooners fan
It is not just Baker and Kyler. It is also Bradford and White.
