    Hey friends, welcome back to Dame Untamed. In today’s video, I've created a BC Hiking Guide for hiking around Vancouver BC. We are exploring one of the best hikes in Squamish. It’s called the Jurassic Ridge Trail and it’s found in Murrin Provincial Park here along the beautiful Sea to Sky. The viewpoints offer spectacular views Howe Sound, and if prepared most people can complete this hike!
    Luckily for those living in Squamish, Murrin Provincial Park is just a quick 10 minute drive from downtown. For folks coming from the city, it’s roughly an hour drive (depending on traffic) from downtown Vancouver, up the beautiful Sea to Sky Highway.
    Murrin Provincial Park is a great spot for all sorts of activities. Birding, hiking, climbing, fishing and canoeing are all very popular in the park, making it a busy place to visit. The parking lot can be very full and overcrowded on weekends, so if you can, plan your visit on a week day to avoid the crowds, especially during the busy summer months. Be careful not to park illegally, or you’ll likely end up with a ticket.
    For those of you who have been following my channel for some time, you know how much I love my drone. No Drone signs are sad to see, but it’s important we respect the local drone laws and regulations.
    The Jurassic Ridge trail is a 3.1km, moderately challenging route. The trail is a loop, but it’s recommended you take it counter-clockwise to avoid a very steep descent in the opposite direction.You’ll start by following the “Loop Trail”. At about 1km into the hike, you’ll reach a junction where you will take a right and continue onto the “Jurassic Ridge Trail”. The Loop Trail is shorter and has less elevation gain for those searching for a less challenging option. At 2.5km into the hike, you’ll link back to the Loop Trail and follow it for the remainder. This trail is well marked, but there are a few areas that aren’t totally obvious, so plan ahead and have access to a trail map just incase.
    There are multiple beautiful viewpoints throughout this hike. The first (and arguably the best) you’ll come across is the Quercus viewpoint. It offers stunning, unobstructed views of Howe Sound. The next major viewpoint is Jurassic Peak. Another beautiful spot, with slightly differing views from the first one.
    There are many reports of “no pets allowed” at this park, but as per BC Parks website, your furry friends are in fact allowed, as long as they are on leash. They are however, prohibited from the picnic and main beach areas, so please be mindful of this when visiting.
    This hike provides some areas of steep incline, so proper footwear and adequate water supply is a must. Don’t forget snacks, your sunglasses and sun protection for those sunny days. As long as you come prepared, this is a great option for a moderately challenging, achievable hike offering amazing views!
    Thanks for watching! Your continued support means the world to me.

    Hi! If I only go to Quercus viewpoint and go back down the same way, would you consider that an “easy” hike? Looking to take my parents. Thanks!

      @DameUntamed  Рік тому

      Hey there! Do your parents have any experience hiking? To reach the viewpoint, it’s basically straight up right from the beginning. I’d say roughly 20-25 minutes uphill. I wouldn’t classify this as easy for the average person, but it’s pretty short at least 🙂

    I read on AllTrails that there are some roped sections of this hike and can be very difficult is that inaccurate?

    • @DameUntamed
      @DameUntamed  Рік тому

      I do believe there was one rope section, but I didn't find it overly difficult. Depends what you're used to. Moderately rated hike, so nothing too crazy. Just make sure you take the hike counter clockwise... it gets a lot harder the other way around.

    How would this hike go in winter?

    • @DameUntamed
      @DameUntamed  Рік тому

      Hmm. It would likely be icy and slippery in spots - there are a few smooth rock surfaces. However, I don’t see why it couldn’t be completed with a pair of crampons? I’d say it’s definitely doable with caution.

    Hey thanks for the video. I am headed to Vancouver Island in May. I'm going to spend time in Victoria and up in Campbell River. I am going to spend time with family and friends. While in C.R. I am going fishing. Also I am going sightseeing at Elk Falls. Can't wait!
