Shannon Falls was so beautiful 😍. Glad to see 👀 Kona enjoying some ice cream😉 . The Whistler Train hike was very cool. Looks like Kona is gonna start showing us her dance 💃 moves too!
Such a beautiful area! We’re hoping to visit Canada next year! I have to tell you, when Kona was catching treats by the Olympic Rings & Adam was talking for her I cracked UP, because Brad & I do that with Chip ALL THE TIME! I said ‘I’m so glad we aren’t the only ones who narrate for our dog!’ 😂 🐕
Years ago I spent five months in Whistler, from February to June. Drove the Sea to Sky several times down to Vancouver and back. Still the most beautiful drive I've ever seen. Drop dead gorgeous. Also saw bears daily. If you didn't see at least one a day right in town you just weren't paying attention.
I worked up there many years ago. - in the upper village, in the summer we'd get tourists coming in and complaining they hadn't seen a bear. i'd take them to the doorway of the store and point them out to them - there'd sometimes be a dozen gazing on the hill. I lived in Squamish, for a few years working in West Vancouver and then a few more working in Whistler, I drove the Sea to Sky everyday - but back before the olympics, when the road was wild - often referred to as "the death highway", the southern stretch from Horseshoe Bay to Squamish was once one of the most dangerous roads in the world
@@AdventuresofAplusK I used to love the drive when it was 'extreme'. I worked in Whistler when the Olympic bid was going through and knew people who were on the Olympic committee. The sole reason for wanting to host the Olympics was to force the government to build a new road, the town wanted customers to be less put off by the drive. When the weather used to get very bad, RCMP would set up a road block just north of Squamish and talk to drivers. Only allowing locals through. It didn’t matter what you were driving, a lot of fancy 4x4s from Vancouver would be turned around and sent home. If you weren’t used to the road, they didn’t want you on it. - this didn’t matter so much to the hotels, since rooms were booked and paid for, but to restaurants and other businesses, the loss of customers was felt. Although other businesses were involved, it was mostly the company that owned Whistler/Blackcomb that lobbied for the games and the new highway. As soon as the bid was won, the company lobbied the government for compensation for 'loss of earnings' - since having the hills used for the Olympics, meant they couldn’t sell skiing to the public. - the Olympics is a horrible racket.
I LOVE this drive!!!! I am crazy about that picture of Adam clean shaven. Good both ways on the facial hair but so so so adorable and such handsome features shaven!!! You are lucky!!!
My daughter and son in law live in Surrey, B.C. We have seen many photos and videos along the Sea to Sky highway. They have been to Britannia Beach, Shannon Falls, and Whistler. They even went snow shoeing at Whitler! Such a beautiful place!
Kona's ice cream whisker face!! Thanks for another amazing video! So beautiful...It might just be me, but I hate to see old train/plane wrecks left out in the forests. I really wish they wouldn't leave them behind!
I love watching your vlogs. They inspire me. Almost 2 months ago, I had to put down my 15 1/2 yr old Maltese. He was my adventure buddy.. When I get into a bad funk, your vlogs cheer me up.
Oh we're so sorry to hear about that! That is a day we dread for sure! We cherish every day we have with Kona We're so glad we could help in any way! Thank you for watching!
That real fruit ice cream looked SO good! We've never seen that before and was so impressed by the doggie cone too! This really took us back with Aussie meat pies!
Beautiful video. In 2016 I was lucky enough to attend Pemberton Music Festival. Traveling from West Virginia with my sister, this was both of our first time anywhere out West. We were definitely spoiled by the grandeur and beauty of the British Colombia. We stayed in Whistler and rode the shuttle each 4 days to the festival closer to the farming village of Pemberton. Insanely beautiful.. it feels like a dream every time I think about it. Thanks for sharing this… loved seeing the sea to sky highway and Shannon falls!!

I love this place. When I worked in Canada in the ‘80’s, we used to come out to Vancouver on sales trips. Always kept the weekend free to ski at Whistler. I’m not much of a skier so I’d go up to Pemberton and hike around Nairn Falls. Never even considered bears in those days. Thanks for the memories!

Love Kona's ice cream mustache! 🍦 Just gives you a bit of an idea of how massive Canada is. And the West to East expanse is even longer than the US border to Alaska section.

That meat pie looked really good, and that part of the country, world, is really quite beautiful. I enjoyed the Kona shot with the ice cream as well, nice to know you didn't forget about him.
Oh man, that New Zealand real fruit IC looks and sounds incredible!! Loving all your adventures as usual - thanks for sharing it all, including Kona dancing with you two at the end!!
My wife and I call you the cute couple, love your videos. Only been following you for a couple of weeks excited about your trip to Alaska. Peace be with you.
That meat pie though! Piled high with sides and gravy!! I may watch your vlogs more for the food content..🤔😂. Thanks you two for another incredible adventure!! 💕
It was super duper tasty! Don't be like other subscribers though....make sure you bring a snack when watching so you don't get hangry! 😂 Thanks for watching!
Oh man, Vancouver Island was amazing…I’m gonna miss it too and I wasn’t even there! My wife and I’ve been to Whistler and we can’t wait to go back. Great video y’all…great way to start my Sunday. 🤙🏽🚐🇨🇦
I have been to Vancouver and Vancouver Island but never north of there. The landscapes in this video were gorgeous. Also love how you bought Kona a little doggie ice cream cone.❤
Both of those spots are super duper amazing! Hopefully you can get up to the Sea to Sky Highway and Whistler one day. It is its own kind of amazing! Kona looooved her ice cream!
Great video guys! You are doing this local gal proud! I was hoping you would go to Peaked Pies…as a transplanted Aussie now living in Vancouver its a wonderful taste of home!👍👍
Bob ! - haven't seen that in a long time. Back when the road was bad, knowing where rockslides etc were was important. Without mile markers, locals reference spots by landmarks like creeks, falls, lakes etc. "Bob" is one such landmark, they even use it on the radio for road reports - "Big Orange Bridge" - or, Bob
Hello Adventurers😊😊😊, I'm Super Thrilled heading north to Alaska!! So, where is my New Zealand ICE CREAM...i want it NOW😊😊😊😊! The waterfalls and suspension bridges were AWESOME. Adam. Where...is my meat pie??? Y'all can't have this much fun now😄😄😄! Watch out for those irritating mosquitos as they may follow you all the way to Alaska. OUTSTANDING VIDEO👍👍👍👍👍!
Good that you brought up the bear caution as safety is also a top concern of mine when I travel\hike in wilderness besides the sightseeing and the food(coffee and bakery). You guys hit all the spots; 10 of 10..
I really like your videos! I have been to the west of Canada three times, and Vancouver Island, especially Tofino and Victoria, were my favorite! I am wondering, Adam, where did you buy your Pacific Northwest hat? I really like the stitched brand on that and the combination of colors!
You guys are fun! 👍 Every adventure has to have ice cream. And that pie was enough food for a couple of days. Thought of you guys as we did Yankee Boy Basin to the top and topped it off with ice cream in Ridgway on the way home. Looking forward to the rest of your journey!😀👍
@@AdventuresofAplusK I think the San Juan’s are one of the best kept secrets that’s in the process of being discovered. It was an adventure from breakfast to ice cream with amazing views in between. Keep up your great work!😀👍
What a small world, we exited our Alaska cruise in Vancouver today, and hopped on a bus to the gondolas via sea to sky highway. Imagine my surprise to see your vid dropped in the same day. I wish we had the time to do more hiking like you guys did (gonna have to drive here next time) but then again it almost hit 90 degrees here today.
Oh wow how funny! The Sea to Sky Highway definitely deserves more than one trip and hopefully your own car so you can take your time! 90 degrees doesn't sound fun!
the Sea to Sky used to be my commute - man-years ago, when Squamish was a tiny community with no real services.- you mentioned the wind at Porteau - Squamish actually means "mother of the wind", I'm not sure if they've been beaten since, but several wind surfing records were set in the sound
I don’t know if it still there, Squamish has changed beyond all recognition since I lived there - population is 17,000 now, it was less than 800 when I lived there. There used to be a community/cultural centre close to the highway at the south end of town run by the Squamish band. Ironically, for most of the years I lived there I commuted to West Vancouver to work at Park Royal South. Which is at the north end of the Lions Gate bridge. Park Royal South and quite a bit of land (including the rail yards) are on Squamish reserve land.
Love Adam’s sweatshirt in this episode!! I am learning so much from y’all and this new adventure into Canada and on up to Alaska!! Hoping to make this trip in a couple of years! I assume y’all will create travel itineraries for all of this too? Loved Kona and the ice-cream cone - So cute!!
We will definitely be making guides and itineraries for all of our adventures this year! Good thing you won’t be going for a few years because we are way behind! 😂 That hoodie is so comfortable! Kona loves her ice cream!🐶
Another reason to come to NZ - the meat pies here are EVERYWHERE and delicious! They are the staple road trip food - in most cafes and gas stations. Also amazing flat whites. Really, just amazing coffee/cafe culture overall.
Another great video. I love all your photography. It occurred to me how much planning must go into your trips. Have you done a video on how you plan your adventures? It must be a finely tuned machine. Thanks.
We haven't done a video necessarily, but we have covered it a bit on past Q&As and we have some detailed blog posts about planning! adventuresofaplusk.com/how-to-plan-a-trip Although, our planning process for videos includes even more steps, as we have to do a lot more research to ensure we can create a video that is informative and helpful.
I was born and raised in Alaska. You can't miss Moose's Tooth and Fire Island Bakery while in Anchorage. Also the "bucket of butt" (halibut) at Thorn's Showcase Lounge in Seward is a must have. Lastly, if you make it to Homer take a ferry across the bay to Halibut Cove to eat at The Saltry and walk along the boardwalk (dogs are welcome). Safe travels!
@@AdventuresofAplusK That is an extremely difficult question! It's really hard to go wrong and I've never had a pizza I didn't like there. However, I would say that some perennial favorites are the Avalanche, Santa's Little Helper, Amazing Apricot, Chicken Ranch, and Spicy Thai. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, so my recommendation would be just order whatever looks good and enjoy!
Are you going to all the national parks in Alaska? We are on a quest to go to all the national parks too (33 so far!) and your videos are helpful! We hope to one day travel full time like you two! :)
One of our lifetime goals is to visit all the NPs, but unfortunately we won't be able to visit all of the parks in Alaska on this trip. Many of them require a boat or plane ride to get to and we just can't do that for a variety of reasons right now. We know we'll visit Alaska many times so we'll get to them all eventually! Thanks for watching!
Myself I'm more of Alice lake/Cat lake camper. As for hiking, Elfin lakes, Watersprite lake are also great...so many. How did you like the descent into Lillooet on the Duffy Lake hwy....very spectacular on a nice day....knuckle biter for some? Love the Aussie "Peaked Pies" there's also one on Denman street, Vancouver.
That drive was spectacular and beautiful! We didn’t think it was a knuckle biter or scary at all though. After driving the Million Dollar Highway and other scenic mountain drives we don’t really get nervous on roads anymore. We’ll check out those spots you recommend next time! Thanks for watching!
What a spectacular view from the campsite pitch, and access straight onto the beach - was it more expensive than other pitches or is it luck of the draw? Alice and Brohm looked amazing. I loved the slogans on their muriel outside, especially the 'adventure then ice cream' - I felt like that was very up your street too, and I also love that they have the doggie ice cream that's part charitable. You guys did so well to get the free parking spot near Whistler. I remember back in 2010, the brand new HI hostel was SO expensive and all the backpackers we met kept saying how lovely the place was, but also how expensive it was! Was the bear a grizz or black bear that you saw as you drove in? Really loved the waterfall trails in this video too - so gorgeous! Was very surprised to hear Brandywine are smaller than Shannon as it didn't look that way in the videos!
I believe all the sites at Porteau Cove are the same price (even for the sites that aren't on the water, which is a bummer). The views of that one were fantastic! Adventure then ice cream is a really fitting motto for us! We loved that they donate as well, especially since Kona was a rescue. That free camping spot was very clutch for our time there! Free camping is tough to find in Canada. The hostels and hotels in Whistler look really nice, but ya I can imagine how expensive they are! The bear we saw was a black bear. We have only seen one grizzly so far and that's coming in a few videos! Shannon Falls is so massive!
@@AdventuresofAplusK I'm so envious that you've seen a grizz. It was inevitable with your headed up to Alaska, I can't wait to see that episode, and your reactions, and whether it was a safe and fun spotting from a distance/the van, or a 'Oh my goodness we may die here' situation. Seeing one safely, but in the wild is so high on my bucket list!

That meat pie looked really good, and that part of the country, world, is really quite beautiful. I enjoyed the Kona shot with the ice cream as well, nice to know you didn't forget about him.
That is one of our favorite areas of the world! Lots of beautiful nature and food!
Kona loved her scoop dog!
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful waterfalls! I love this video!
Thanks, Candace!
Oh man, that New Zealand real fruit IC looks and sounds incredible!! Loving all your adventures as usual - thanks for sharing it all, including Kona dancing with you two at the end!!
That ice cream was something else! We can't wait to have that again! Kona doesn't like the dancing, but it's still fun anyway!
You guys are doing an awesome job! Your footage and narration are spectacular, keep up the great work and safe travels.
Thank you so much and thanks for watching!
Interesting and full of information as usual!
Thanks, Simon! 💙
Honestly the entire video could have been Kona eating her ice cream and I still would have watched.
Haha she'd be ok with that too 😂
My wife and I call you the cute couple, love your videos. Only been following you for a couple of weeks excited about your trip to Alaska. Peace be with you.
Haha thanks! We’re glad you’re here and following along! Thank you for watching!
Thanks for watching!
@@AdventuresofAplusK 😂🤣. For sure!!!!
Oh man, Vancouver Island was amazing…I’m gonna miss it too and I wasn’t even there! My wife and I’ve been to Whistler and we can’t wait to go back. Great video y’all…great way to start my Sunday. 🤙🏽🚐🇨🇦
Ya we miss the island as well. We can't wait to go back already! Thanks for watching!
@@AdventuresofAplusK 💗
That is an amazing view at Murrin Provincial Park! I highly recommend Golden Ears and doing the Panorama trail, such a stunning place!
Ya that’s one of our fav spots! Those look amazing! Next time!
Thanks for watching!
Great video guys! You are doing this local gal proud! I was hoping you would go to Peaked Pies…as a transplanted Aussie now living in Vancouver its a wonderful taste of home!👍👍
They were super delicious! I could eat one a day! 😋
Thanks!
You guys are great! Thank you
💙
I like the nickname! Thanks for that!
We're having too much fun out here! Sharing is caring, but it's hard to do! 😂
Beautiful ❤
Wowww that waterfall is incredible!! I’ve always wanted to visit Whistler, and y’all inspired me to maybe do my own road-trip up!
We hope you can! It's worth the trek!
Good that you brought up the bear caution as safety is also a top concern of mine when I travel\hike in wilderness besides the sightseeing and the food(coffee and bakery). You guys hit all the spots; 10 of 10..
Definitely a big concern for us! We have yet to have any issues thankfully, but we try to be prepared!
OmG I thought it was you two hugging at 4:40 and it was Katharine hugging Kona 🐶😂🤣
Hahahah!
I really like your videos! I have been to the west of Canada three times, and Vancouver Island, especially Tofino and Victoria, were my favorite! I am wondering, Adam, where did you buy your Pacific Northwest hat? I really like the stitched brand on that and the combination of colors!
Tofino and Victoria are some of our favorite places as well!
The Australian Ginger Beer is also tasty. Worth having if you ever get back down to Whistler and eat the pies again.
Yum! We'll look out for that next time! Thanks!
We’re always on the prowl for ice cream! ☺️
Oh that’s awesome! We can’t wait to get back to the San Juans!
Great video as always…and now it’s time for me to look for one of those NZ ice cream machines on the webernet!
Oooooh that’s a good idea! Buy one! We gotta find a place for one in the van!
Tell me you're addicted to coffee without telling me you're addicted to coffee.
Hard to believe you're almost to Alaska! 🦅
Oh we've got a big addiction! :)
Getting closer! Wahoo!
Love it!
So so beautiful 😍😍
💙💙
the Sea to Sky used to be my commute - man-years ago, when Squamish was a tiny community with no real services.- you mentioned the wind at Porteau - Squamish actually means "mother of the wind", I'm not sure if they've been beaten since, but several wind surfing records were set in the sound
The Sea to Sky is one of our favorite drives ever! Hard to beat.
Oh wow! We love learning about the First Nations!
That hoodie is so comfortable! Kona loves her ice cream!🐶
@@AdventuresofAplusK 😂😂😂Take your time, no hurry obviously, and enjoy the ride!!!
Another reason to come to NZ - the meat pies here are EVERYWHERE and delicious! They are the staple road trip food - in most cafes and gas stations. Also amazing flat whites. Really, just amazing coffee/cafe culture overall.
NZ is high on our bucket list to visit! Thanks for watching!
@@AdventuresofAplusK thank you so much for the link. I’ll be sure to check it out.
Luv your guys, but don't think you'll make it to dancing with the stars though...Your efforts are still fun to watch😂
Meh Dancing With the Stars is overrated! 🤪
Thanks for all of the tips! Moose's Tooth has been the #1 recommendation and we can't wait to try it! If you had a favorite pizza there, let us know!
Superb video! A+
Thank you and thanks for watching!
And the pies😳😊
