Been backcountry camping on Vancouver Island with my spouse. On or first outing we carried store bought meals; they were disgusting and laden with salt. After a full day of hiking, we'd consume an entire package each, which was often 2 or more servings. Aside form the blandness, the notion of intaking 5000% of one's daily sodium allowance in a single meal was eye-opening. We continue to camp in the deep wilderness; now we cook and dehydrate our own meals. They're delicious, nutritious, and reconstitute far better than store bought. Sodium levels are also sane. Happy trails!
Love the video!! I’ve been trying to figure out how to book a campsite for Lindeman Lake all day with no luck. I feel like my head could explode trying lol. Was this just first come first serve?
Omg I’m sorry I missed this comment! 😅 you can’t book a campsite, just register for camping in the backcountry. Then it is first come first served. I think I linked it in the description
Hi nina! Love your channel been here since 1.7 thousand subscribers! You have come a long way since last year! Hard work is starting to pay off and you are getting lots of traffic! Keep up the great work! You are inspiring me to keep going with my own channel! ❤
If you ever need a place to stay in northern Ontario feel free to message me! Would be awesome to go on a hike together! Although my area is not nearly as nice as BC!
Hi Anna-Marie! Thank you ☺️ having you here means so much to me! I’m happy that I can inspire you with your own channel as well. Keep being awesome ❤️ I appreciate you.
I really enjoyed your video ! I would like to have the occasion to do some hikes like this in BC but unfortunately I'm going back in Switzerland, where I live, in 1 week. I love BC
I love that you showed the skincare part of this video! I’m just getting into backpacking and I was hoping to bring a couple things but wasn’t sure if people do because of the scent. Do you bring some kind of deodorant/antiperspirant? Also I’m from Vancouver island and I’m so happy I found your channel; your videos are beautiful and get me excited to get out there!
Hi Amanda! I bring a very basic skincare routine with me and deodorant, toothpaste, etc. Anything that has a scent I always leave in designated food storage bins or hang from a tree at night. Glad you enjoy my videos ☺️ thank you
Any chance you remember which month this was at ? I'm surprised how empty it is. I assume this was a week-day too ? Great content, I loved the tour of the campground
Lindeman lake is the perfect hike for begginer over night camping, I would also recommend green drop lake and flora lake and even radium lake. I have done them all. FLORA was the hardest
@@NinaDefilla I’ve also been here since the beginning of your channel and I love to see how far it’s came and to watch firsthand you break out of your shell. It makes me feel like I know you in person. I hope you make it to Colorado sometime!
My friends and i are planning on going for labor day long weekend. I see theres no campfires allowed but was there anywhere nice for 6ish people to hangout? I guess the beach
so glad i found this channel ! happy to be a new subscriber. i'm wondering if anyone knows whether you need to make $ reservations to backcountry camp at lindeman ? the provincial park websites say so, but I'm having trouble navigating where I can make a reservation that isn't for a traditional campground. other older blogs say backcountry is on a first come first serve basis, but I'm sure that's not so anymore. i appreciate any info ! now I'm about to watch the solo hike in joffre video !
Hi Mya! Thanks for joining me 😊 for Lindeman Lake camping you just need a backcountry permit. They are $5 and I linked the permit page in my description. No reservation is needed because the campground itself is first come first served. Let me know if that helps!

Thanks!
Dream of life: "go on a hike with Nina"♥
This is a good one!
You didn't go to the other end of the lake with the beautiful sandy beach in late summer early fall.
Looks like a pair of Barrow's Goldeneye ducks
Thank you!

Ya the beach area is good. If you’re going on a weekend I recommend getting up there early. It gets super busy!

yes that was an otter, a river otter, as opposed to its cousin the sea otter
Aww it’s so cute! Thanks
Do you need to make a reservation?
You need a backcountry permit, but the campground is first come first served. I linked the permit info in the description
