    Finally getting to do the Stawamus Chief Hike was nothing short of incredible! It’s most definitely the best hike in Squamish. It’s rated hard for a reason… expect lots of stairs, a bit of technical terrain and a never ending uphill climb. I highly recommend strong gripping, supportive hiking shoes, lots of water and snacks! The hike to the first and second peaks is 5km round trip and has an elevation gain of 655m. The views are absolutely worth the sweat! If you are looking to go hiking in British Columbia Canada, this should most definitely be on your list!

    It's a great hike! I've done it a few times. I proposed to my wife at the first peak! Her engagement ring was stolen a year later, so when I got the replacement, we hiked back up so I could "put a ring on it" all over again! That was almost 20 years ago.

    My hometown and I only hiked up once....I was about 12 and was with my mom, little Eddi who was 6 at the time and our shaggy sheepdog Terry. Not as many stairs back then...a bit more rugged.

    • @DameUntamed
      @DameUntamed  Рік тому

      Wow, not bad for a 6 year old. Glad you got to experience it at some point. I'm sure it was a little more rugged with less traffic back then.

    • @Mutnut333
      @Mutnut333 Рік тому

      @@DameUntamed Yes...much more rudimentary. As for the 6 year old...he was a wild child all his life and lived hard n fast and was full of energy - sadly, his ashes were sprinkled at Shannon Falls just this spring...yesterday was his birthday. A Squamish Boy through n through and he climbed The Chief more times than I will ever know....with his wife and kids, too. What I remember from our hike was the red biting ants!!!! We laid a blanket out for a picnic lunch and were attacked!!!! As far as traffic....we did see a few groups but no where near as popular as it is now. Squamish was a hidden gem back then....now it's The Outdoor Capital of North America. I plan on a visit back and a hike up The Chief is on the agenda....

    That’s one difficult hike! Great job for doing that hopefully one day I can do that hahah but that day is far away haha
    question what kind of shoes r u wearing I always wear addidas or Nike but they r not that comfortable for hikes
    Again amazing job with the hike looked so hard 🙈🙈

    • @DameUntamed
      @DameUntamed  3 роки тому

      Thanks so much! It was definitely difficult, but totally worth it! I wear proper, sturdy hiking boots whenever I take on a hike like this. I gravitate towards Salomon hikers. Great quality and super comfortable. But really, anything with good grip and support of your ankle will work just fine! Let me know if you have any more questions. I'm happy to make some more specific recommendations!

    do you recommend this hike for mid 50's in decent shape and how about hiking poles?

    • @DameUntamed
      @DameUntamed  3 роки тому

      There are parts of this hike that are very steep as mentioned in the video, but I think with the proper gear (good shoes and polls for support), it would be very doable! Just remember to take your time, drink lots of water and rest when you need to! I would also plan this hike on a nice day… it get exponentially more challenging when wet as the rocks become extremely slippery!
