This video shows you how to fix your air conditioner squeak in your car, the air conditioner sound is really bad and annoying. I'll show you how you can fix it without replacing it, or if you want to replace your motor blower or resistor this video will help you will that as well. This video is for BMW 2002-2008 E65 (750i) E66 (750li) BMW. This process will probably be similar on other model series of BMW cars or makes.

I just completed this fix. The video was pretty much spot on. I wouldn't have even attempted it without these instructions. When taking down the panel to get to the blower, there is a wiring harness that is in a clip on the panel - you don't see it at first. I had the right tools - a small ratchet handle with a short torx insert gets the screws near the firewall. I also had a long thin handle torx driver that eliminated the need for the long allen wrench. I used a few drops of synthetic motor oil on the bearings. The job took a little less than two hours to complete. Time will tell, but for now the noise is gone. Thanks for the help!!!
Thanks so much dude you are a lifesaver. I had the annoying ass noise for several months. It was so bad that the wife hated riding with me. I ran across vid, I tried this fix and used penetrating oil. The noise is completely gone. Finally I can ride without blasting the radio. Again, much thanks.
Many, many thanks. This video alone helped me replace my final stage unit and blower motor when my AC stopped working. I saved hundreds of dollars doing it myself.
This drives me crazy. Same problem w/mine. Thx for posting this.
Thanks for the instruction on this. Best on the web that I could find.
can you actually spray the wd-40 b4 without taking out the fan?
Thanks for your helpfully video buddy!
Thanks great way to explain
Hi Thanks for very good info here.
I had this and followed the video.
Tested for noise right after disassembling by reconncting wire
NO noise!!!!!
Even tiltning it back/forward
The upper half was very dirty, say 1/2 mm of solid dirt
Cleaned it, reassembelled and all is Well
Noted some very very very tiny clips which obviously are balance weights
I am CONVINCED that the noise is due to unbalance of the fan caused by uneven distribution of the weight of dirt.
My guess is that the dirt wheighs 50-100 times the balance weight
And the bearings you lubricated are sealed so IMHO no oil got down there
Just my experience

Spoiler so you don't have to watch. There is a bird inside... Lol
i got the same problem thanks for the video
you are super :)
worked perfect
I have the same problem on my E39, but this is actual only in winter and after it warms up, noise goes off or maybe is slightly hearing. Any explanation on this? And is it possible to somehow oil it without taking out motor? (For E39 it is even more complicated process)
I'm going to do this as well. My fan does this to when the setting is low and radio is down you can faintly hear it. Think I will do this simple task tomorrow. Then Tackle my parking break malfunction from the plastic piece that broke because its causing my P light, and ABS Light and drive moderate light to come on. Now really sure how that effects it all but was told by a bmw guy who works on the 65/66s. Ill let you know how it turns out.
Did the problem return again after awhile or does it fix the problem long term/permanently?
I'm considering dabbing a small amount of light bicycle grease on the bearings because the 3in1 oil only fixed this problem for me for about 3 weeks
Great, please let me know how it all turns out and enjoy your car after:)
Hi
It was raining and my fan stop working.the light on the off button is off.any advise .help
Hi! Do you think this may also be a covered repair/replacement under CPO warranty?
+khmertennispro Hello, great call, I've never had a CPO warranty but I wouldn't see why not, sometimes it does take a few phone calls and trying to get the right person on the phone to help you get what you want if you know what I'm saying, thanks for watching:)
Hello. Thanks for thee great videos. However I suppose, that the squeak noise comes from the brushes, since there are ball bearings on the shaft.
Sorry... No ball bearings, my mistake. I didn't look at your video good enough...
So sintered bearings, I suppose. Or am I wrong again?
I have the same problem with my bmw e90 2006,, uk version right wheel drive, what side is that motor, driver side (right side) or left side?? Thanks in advance!!
mafiatour Hello, for your UK version, it should be on the passenger side (left)
+mafiatour I have the exact same problem, same car. BMW E90 2006. I am going to try this. Thanks for the video.
aghh I have the same noise and the same symptoms when it appears. I’m defiantly going to do that.
After so long does this noise re-appeared again or it's still good.
fat4o I think it took about 6-8 months for it to come back, but it doesn't come back all the time only when I'm running it for over an hour + so you can repeat the process and fix it again in another 6-8 months. better then spending hundreds of dollars. Thanks for watching:)
This is the best channel and source of DYI for these cars. I'm thankful that you are making these
videos. I'll definitely give it a try. On my local dealer a new fan is 150$, so
maybe if it continues soon after the repair, I’ll buy a new one. I had no idea
that it was these easy to remove it.
awesome, thank you for watching:)
In the beginning of the video you hear my air conditioner making a bird like squeak, but after oiling it it has been squeak free for at least 4 months now since I did it. Save me a few hundard bucks.
Thank you for watching, a lot more great videos on the way:)
So you don't need to buy a new blower motor all it needs is just oil?
I have a 2004 BMW 745i, and the problem I have is that my a/c is blowing hot air from the front vents, but cold air from the rear vents. Can anyone give some help with this? Thanks.
robert burton Hello, 1st thing that comes to mind is you need more freon, or a fuse, or your blower motor is bad. I'm not 100 % sure, try to Google BMW E65 E66 a/c blowing hot air from front vents but cold air in rear vents, and read everything you can on the BMW forum boards, those guys/gals have been through everything:)
Thank you much.
There electronic Spray works to pass and stop the gas. It's located above the acleration and brake pedals.. the shape is small black box with two wires and two (in and out coper pipe ) ...... I use to have that problem and every person keep and telling me to change this and this untill I spend over 1.5k USD. The electronic spray cost only 100$ don't wast your time and don't run your car with A/C and that part is damege.
same problem
Well i broke one of the three prongs. Now its going in.
