Yessir ! Whole band is GOING OFF on “cantaloupe island”. At one point, only Chris P holding it together while Herbie & VC just go left & LOL. Clearly Vinnie is killin it & his GRETSCH DRUMS SOUND AMAZING here through headphones.
The technical ability of the guys in this band is astonishing-great to hear Dave Holland on electric base-I am a huge fan of his. Chris Potter just gets better and better-I guess he is well on the way to legendary status;
This is kind of a gift. I just can't listen to Christine Aguilera do A Song for you. Amy Keyes just sings the shit out of the tune. This should have been on Possibilities.
Is Link. Easier with Rovner lignature. Stock lig. is OK if you play 27 hours a day. Old Link 7-8 with medium reed and Rovner Lig. is fingernail paring from Hand of God if only play 2-4 hours a day.
@@michaelfantaro6488 No I think you're thinking of the bald guy at the start. His name is Chevy Chase, he's a comedian (and yes it's quite unusual he showed up)
It’s a live performance! I suspect that something went wrong with her sound setup. You can see the passion in her face and body, but it doesn’t come through the sound.
I don't believe Herbie needs the guitar on this piece. I was annoyed by his playing. I'll go as far as to say he HAS to be good since he's in band. Maybe it's the arrangement or his sheet music. His part however is a blemish on an otherwise outstanding performance. 😖
I was saying the same thing when I was 16 and only listened to Kind of Blue and Blue Train... I found Headhunters awful. Oh, little did I know at that time... Wake up man, we've had electronic instruments around for like 50 or 60 years. And musical ingenuity and improvisational mastery are great irrespective of anyone's labels and categorisations.
@@@bakavasa I have had a private jazz label since 1980 and I hate electronic instruments. On my label I had Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, Lee Konitz, Warne Marsh, Lennie Tristano, Ted Brown and others, only the masters! You can reckon I know my busines and I am a critical listener.
Herbie Hancock, piano/keyboards
Chris Potter, saxophones
Lionel Loueke, guitar
Dave Holland, bass
Vinnie Colaiuta, drums
Sonya Kitchell, vocals
Amy Keys, vocals
Herbie may be the “ most advanced musician “on Earth. Every solo opens the gate to a flood of possibilities.
This is one of the best Vinnie vids on youTube.

Dave Holland on EBass... first time since the 70s...
Excellent. Few people will understand...some...never !
I hope at least they enjoy it. The musicians understand that’s clear.

No man, he's already attained it. 😃

This was the last Newport Jazz Festival I attended. Gotta get back there. It was always a nice mini-vacation for wifey, friends and me.
geniuses played together, really enjoy it!
This is a great band with great musicians.
I don't know if there's life elsewhere in the Universe, but if there is, chances are they've heard of Vinnie.
Perhaps he will only stay on earth for a while!

Hey! Chevy Chase!! I missed the hell out of you!
5:47 Chris Potter's super solo performeing in Actual Proof
Me gustaba mas el jazz de los cincuenta,y sesenta.Esto lo veo demasiado electrificado,a mi gusto un poco frio.
Hay que reconoccer, que los americanos son la bomba en este estilo de musica.A lo mejor influye la competencia.
Black N Black White n White
Should ve played Gentle Thoughts...
Herbie is Herbie...but..Chris Potter...My Goodness...!!!
This is kind of a gift. I just can't listen to Christine Aguilera do A Song for you. Amy Keyes just sings the shit out of the tune. This should have been on Possibilities.
siento que el piano estaba desencajado en relacion al resto de música
😎🎶👍🏼

Yes, Vinnie Colaiuta. Many many other people’s drummer as well

everything is fine ,,grate ..until the moment the blondie singer start to sing !
All he needs is Amy Keys

Potter is great, but I miss Bennie Maupin.
Real talk 💯💯💯💯💯
..il chitarrista è un somaro, senza appello.
vinnie c le batteur a joue pas mal d annees avec frank zappa
Whoever told that white chic she could sing was tone deaf.

What you hear in this video is the utter degeneration and degradation of jazz!
I was saying the same thing when I was 16 and only listened to Kind of Blue and Blue Train... I found Headhunters awful. Oh, little did I know at that time...

Yeah. Your "label" gives you way more credibility than Herbie Hancock. Hahaha. I bet you totally played with Miles Davis.
Monk and Mingus were dead in 1980
