this drumming is unbelievable!!!
This Band is simply brilliant and so exciting.... and Herbie doesn't come from this planet....
Agreed: he simply doesn't. He's impossibly brilliant .. but then, this whole line-up of musicians is the creme de la creme.
1. New York Minute 0:39
2. Mercy Street 23:14
3. Thieves In The Temple 43:44
4. You Got It Bad, Girl 1:06:16
5. Love Is Stronger Than Pride 1:43:00
What a wonderful band this was-RIP Michael and Don.
Not always all stars projects work perfectly, ego may be an issue.
But this band takes improvisation to new levels.
Not surprisingly, most of them are Miles' alumni turned masters.
I come back to this over and over.
From an 84-year-old fan, I know all about a New York Minute. Herbie keeps bringing it back. And, ah, the bass stretching it all out.....yes, yes.....
The best gig that I've heard.
No k
Since year 1997 The New Standard album has been one of my favorites. I went to see them live at that year and was lucky to have a chance to meet each one of them. Unforgettable once in a lifetime moment!
The New Standard is one of Herbie’s most underrated CD’s.
Under rated? Not by me!
A giant show for giants musicians : all in colors (thank you)
present at saratoga tour stop...they melted my brain. did not even have to watch. soooo much to listen to. thanx 4 posting one of the most awesome shows ever. love herbie and sco, jack n dave. magnificent!. rip micheal brecker..one of the all time greatest.
Great band. I saw them in London. For me what works best is Thieves in the Temple. I believe they all played with Miles except MB. I also saw Jack Dejohmette's Parallel Realities band at Montreux. Jack, Herbie, Dave and Pat Metheny. It was extraordinary - a real wall of sound.
Yeah, the meeting of the greats and free spirits, all stars legendary, magic l
Thanks
Music is the best !
high vibes!!
ThX
Whewwww!!!! What a band. Great show by great musicians. Next level...
Uno de los mejores grupos que tuvo el gran Herbie Hancock, Jack que baterista!!
great concert, an all stars band
Lilli Lewis is a poised, confident singer with superb piano 🎹 musicianship! I was just blown away by the lyrics and bass solo of the song, "Everyday". She is definitely added to my list of 'must haves' ouvers in my musical library. Bravo!
Incredible.....
43.36 PRINCE!!!! THOSE THIEVES IN THE TEMPLE!!!! YESSS SO COOOL

Whoaaaaa...!!!! The grooves, the solos, the laidbackness, my god...
The best.
Best crew ever.
What a band!!!!! Thanks you for uploading . Some serious Soloists.
I want the headphones. worn by Don Alias and Jack DeJohnette!
what a deficient mix
How cool. And smart.
Thanks boys...
l'immortel New York minute me fait rappeller mes 19 ans. Chaque phrases du chorus dévoilent énormément des secrets d'émotion profonde (outside parfaitement à mon goût). Magnifique quartet. Les Mozarts du jazz.
Thx for sharing 😉
L'olimpo degli dei. Il mitico Sco come ai tempi di Miles!
57:59...a bit delta city blues thrown in like its a piece of cake
💛😀🌱🌾
genial coole band
criminal neglect of cymbals in the mix, but herbie can't be defeated as the best ever, and jack is a titan!
59:50 Great lines.
🌱😀💛🌼
Nasty!!
This must be harder than classical music. It feels that way.
I’m going to go out on a limb and assume you’re not a musician. Classical musicians essentially spend a lifetime interpreting a fully written composition with variations in only dynamics and other ornamentations, while jazz musicians spend an equal amount of time learning to create a spontaneous composition every time through improvisation. People who have mastered both are few and far between.
@@dogman5680 You are right I am not.
@@rouzbehazshab you're both right
Dog Man, I agree. Back in the day when I was in my 20s and 30s I heard a great analogy. Classical music, what is known in my area as European Concert Music is written improvisation. All of the dynamics and emotion is written. And the better that you can interpret someone elses improvisation, the better you are. What's known as Jazz music is instantaneous improvisation. And back in rhe 40s-60s, it was an insult to some if you imitated someone's playing. You had to come up with your own thing.
🌱💛🍒😃
A supergroup
What-ho fucking hell.
9:21 THE LICC
What day was this?
ソウグレイト!
Who the hell is on sax? He's sick, absolutely filthy. Awesome.
"just" Michael Brecker :)
bws1971 yooo that is the king of tenor sax man, Michael Brecker, bob malach is sick too
Not a speck of dust on this stage.
Are you referring to the cleanliness of the stage or the dynamic life force of these guys?
@@kookokoe Hello kookokoe, Art Blakey said once that jazz washes away the dust of everyday life and this is an instance of that metaphor!
@@peterqueal1 Ahh
9:22 lick
Premiere League Jazz!!!!!!!!!!!
Magnifique, mais aussi bons sont-ils Alias et Dejohnette sont à contre emploi.
9:21 lol
brecker的音色太难模仿了
43:30
I can't stand those tiny little depressively shy applause between songs... Seriously, you have the GOAT on stage, I would be jumping and shouting between songs and after solos... Bad, bad switzerland...
The Lick 9:20
Yeeeeesss!!! ;OJ The Lick!!
what a group but that perc ;/
European sound engineers definitely love over mixed bass and hate cymbals .
Hey rock and roll sound mixer -- jazz drummers play CYMBALS a LOT. WTF don't I hear them?
He’s also Sax shy in the mix…michael Brecker should’ve been brought out, not sitting under the mix…
And learn how to do time stamps. My god.

it's cool but they just abandon the whole song for some typical 60s chromatic bebop. Been there done that. They should just play on the original chords.
Ladies and gentlemen, with "typical 60s chromatic bebop" we have achieved top 2021 ignorant, idiotic, stupid youtube jazz comment. And I say this as a top Charlie Parker loving fanboy. "Been there done that", yeah, sure. Let us know once you're on Montreaux's stage. Dude, the audacity...
I'm sorry, but Michael and John destroyed Herbie at this show. (opinion)
...did not know it was a contest...
Earl Manley It can be an imaginary contest for the listener, while it may not be for the musicians
I love all 3 of them. Why not just enjoy the atmosphere the music creates for us rather than view it as a contest ? Ultimately, isn't that what music in it's finest form does for listeners ?
U mean HH dug what they played so much he was ''d3stroyed", or they played so well, in part, due to HH, and of course the rest of these humble street urchins? 'comp in this sense to me means Completely.
theyy did not destroy even me dude ...what an ignorant statemant......Nobody destroys Herbie not even Time the great destroyer ...he will be around for a long time
