    McCoy, I feel in love with you since your days with J. Coltrane. And you even had the opportunity to play with his son. I'll never forget you. RIP brother

    Roy Haynes was 79 years old at this concert, more than 13 years older than McCoy Tyner ! He's still around I was at one of his concerts less than three years ago.

    Dear Lord! Ravi is a beautiful mixture of his father and his mother. Look at his face! Uncanny. And he sounds like John!!! Nobody---absolutely nobody----SOUNDS like Mr. Tyner.

      cause he played another time within the time of the piece, surprise!!! But everyone else understood, 'cause Roy can do whatever he wants, it will always be ultimately clear and direct communication, he played a signature lick afterwards, I also heard that exact same lick on a Pat Metheny record he played on, recorded in 1989. Trio with Dave Holland on bass. I' went to see them live back then, Amazing!!!

    What is up with the sound guy, good lord? How long does it take to turn on Ravi's mic, and the bass is completely inaudible for half the first tune!

    • @simonesilvestrini4397
      @simonesilvestrini4397 8 років тому +4

      +Ray Callender As much as I love Brecker's sound, his solo on the second tune is just too loud! Kills my ears unless I turn the volume down to a level that doesn't allow me to hear the rythm section.

    Dont know whats happen here, but McCoy is upset by something or someone ???

    • @CalvinLimuel
      @CalvinLimuel 3 роки тому +2

      I don't know about him being upset, but I can suspect what happened. McCoy had his own version of "Moment's Notice", which chopped off 2 measures right before the pedal point, and he kept slipping into that, which resulted in Christian McBride doing the pedal point more aggressively to signal the end of the form. That arrangement also ended in an Emaj7, and the start of the form has an Em7 chord, which probably confused everybody. I think Roy Haynes caught what he was doing but the others were just trying to keep form. Plus he was going to start the intro properly like the original recording, but both Ravi Coltrane and Michael Brecker started it right at the melody, also they played the "wrong version" which has a different rhythm than the original. Also, the tempo was dragging to way slower than what he started it as.

    Moment's notice is a hard hard begining.....seriously the ravi's solo is not cool, the begening of the tune is failed, the sound engeneer fucked up the half of the piece, tyner loose himself in the chords playing the B to early....this is just a fail but they are still amazings and impressing....

    Ravi is pretty mediocre. Brecker just plays the same runs over and over no matter what song. but the ryhthm section is killer. looks good on paper yet leaves a lot to be desired.

    McBride needs to learn legato phrasing to be effective.
